How Does Aidpage Work

If you need help...

Sign up here on Aidpage - free, takes about 10 seconds, don't need an email. Post a new message with pictures and information about your current situation and your needs - it's easy, technical skills are not required. Then, browse other people's aidpages. Use the comments section on their aidpages to send them messages. Some of them will respond to you. At the same time, other people will be visiting your aidpage and writing to you. Write back to them. Talk to each other. Make aidmates.

How can aidmates help each other...?

Aidpage doesn't tell you how to help each other... It's up to you to decide. Advice and good information are easy to share right here on Aidpage. But you can do whatever you find appropriate and necessary... in whatever way you can. Use the aid information and web links contributed by other aidmates. Add to these resources. Be a good aidmate.

If you want to help others...

Simply browse or search Aidpage and wherever interested, post comments or contact the people. They will respond to you. Make aidmates. You can even start your own group right here on Aidpage. A group has a better chance to make a difference in a single person's life or to work for a larger cause. Aidpage is free... no limit on how many pages you can post here or how many groups you can organize. Most importantly - you'll be on the web with a purpose!

The easiest way to help...

The more people know about Aidpage, the better for all aidmates. Add your friends, relatives, and colleagues as email contacts here on Aidpage. Use this new feature of Aidpage to bring in the much needed attention and support to those in need.

What is Aidpage... People Helping People

You are a tourist on a city street... trying to find your way. How do you get help?

Help Yourself

You use a map or a booklet with information about the city. That's ok... although... feels a bit like work... and is somewhat lonely.

People Helping People

You ask a passer-by for directions... Or simply, a passer-by recognizes your "tourist" behavior, stops on his/her own will and spends 30 seconds (often much more) helping you. You feel good. The passer-by feels even better. Witnessing onlookers feel good too. What happens is an easy, almost instinctive "give and take"... so natural that we don't even think about who "gives", who "takes", or why is this happening. This is not "giving"... people are just helping each other.

So... what is Aidpage?

Aidpage is a free public space on the Web where you can:

  • speak out about your problems and needs,
  • act upon your need to help others,
  • join or organize groups for good causes.

Aidpage fosters informal communication among Aidmates, sharing of experience, and mutual support. Simply posting on Aidpage makes you an Aidmate.

E-Bay enables the simple, direct "people buying from people" over the Internet.

Aidpage enables the simple, direct "people helping people" over the Internet.

    About Aidpage - The Company

Aidpage, Inc. is based in Brookline (Boston Area), Massachusetts, USA.

We are a small start-up company with a big plan. Our plan is to give people all over the world a free web based platform for free mutual aid and support.

    More about Aidpage:

    Contact: Emil Sotirov

People Aid People - The Platform

Simply posting on Aidpage makes you an Aidmate. Aidmates take part in something larger - a new worldwide public place where people see each other and help each other... with no fuss... and no need to work through organizations with all their rules, overhead costs, bureaucracy, and political agendas. On Aidpage, you are totally free to ask for help... or offer help... with no need for "proving" or "reporting" anything to anyone. Basically, there is no "process" on Aidpage.

We, at Aidpage, do not plan on tracking who gives to whom... what, why, or how much. Handling of material transactions between Aidmates is left to their own discretion, mutual agreement, and responsibility. We do not plan on posting "success stories" on Aidpage either. We believe people are "wired" for trust. We believe empathy and compassion need no incentives.

There are words like "micro-giving" and "direct philanthropy" coming from the world of the traditional "donor-recipient-beneficiary" philanthropy. We understand, however, that giving is a basic human need in itself. So we prefer to just say "people aid people". All Aidmates are always donors and beneficiaries.

Why Your Organization/Business Should Be Interested In Aidpage

Organizations are absolutely welcome to use Aidpage - to seek or to offer help (or both) - within the spirit of informal immediacy and "everything free" which are the hallmarks of Aidpage.

Organizations and businesses, we believe, will want to publish large amounts of useful data and free advice on Aidpage for at least six reasons - (1) as part of their own web presence and visibility strategy, (2) for a share of the advertising revenue generated on their Aidpages, (3) because it is easy technically and organizationally, (4) as part of their overall PR and marketing efforts, (5) because it is just a good thing to do, and (6) we won't charge you anything - remember, publishing on Aidpage is free.

    Why Aidpage?

    Why Aidpage?

I believe to help someone in need is the most moving and inspiring experience. No other achievement could be so fulfilling. I am not talking about extraordinary circumstances demanding a Hollywood hero. I am talking about everyday situations - problems that for some of us are “piece of cake”. Interesting thing though, no matter how “small” the problem is to us, when we help others, we are getting a lot of satisfaction. We simply feel good about ourselves. We all need that! Yet, in our busy lifes, we often forget how easy it is to feel good about ourselves. That is why Aidpage.

Aid - a short, clear word - apparently everyone knows its meaning. Even more, at any given moment, every one of us needs aid of some kind. However, think about it for a minute and many questions suddenly emerge...

    · How can I ask for help?
    · Whom should I ask for help?
    · How and where can I tell my story?
    · Will I be heard?...
    · What aid is out there?
    · Who is providing the aid?
    · Who is receiving aid?
    · How does the helper know who is in need and what is needed?

The fact that all these questions exist defines a very real need yet to be met. Imagine a place where such questions could be asked and answered. A public place where an ordinary person can ask and get answers to these questions. That is why Aidpage.

Have you ever met people who need to talk about something with someone? Those people aren't always visible, but their need is as real as it gets. Those around them are simply too busy to notice them, but there are others that would gladly spend time talking or just listening. That is why Aidpage.

Many of us consider our own problems “small” compared to what we see daily on TV and do not ask for help. True, most of the problems we face are not big enough to make the news... What should we do? Try harder... just get used to the idea that we cannot solve them... How about asking for help? Of course, we would ask a relative, a friend, or even a neighbor but that is not always an option. Do we realize that there are other people out there who would help.

We came up with the slogan “People Aid People.” Yes! People are going to help other people. We have faith in the following principles:

    · person-to-person giving is a basic human need
    · empathy and compassion need no incentives nor conditions
    · everybody always "gives" and "takes"
    · immediacy and straightforwardness work better than "process"
    · people are "wired" for trust

    That is why Aidpage.

    About Pledges
Yesterday Cheri posted the question “… why do people get pledges and other don’t”. I was rather surprised by this question. I was hoping that my explanation “What is a pledge?” is clear enough and the members will easily get the idea how the pledge system could be used. Apparently, that is not the case, so I will try now to elaborate on the subject.

Perhaps, I should start with the basics – what in fact is Aidpage? Aidpage is a widely popular community place where people meet each other, talk about variety of subjects, express and define themselves, seek help if they are in need, and help each other with advice, things, money or any other way they could figure. In other words – Aidpage could be regarded as a self-helping tool where people aid people as Emil wrote in his “What is Aidpage”.

Yes! We do believe that there are many compassioned people that would extend a helping hand if they know that someone is in trouble. By creating Aidpage and letting everyone to self-express we are trying to accomplish exactly this goal – let the people that can help know, what help is actually needed. That is why we are offering Aidpage free to everybody even though its creation and maintenance costs millions. We are happy to see that Aidpage is developing into a live “bottom up” reflective map of real life social problems.

Keeping in mind all this, we created the pledge system on Aidpage as an additional tool for organized help - to used for tasks that cannot be accomplished by a single person. However, it could be used for variety of endeavors regardless how small or large they are. We have created a multifunctional tool - you will decide how to apply it.

Everybody can start a pledge and try to organize a group of people to accomplish a certain task. That includes pledges started by the beneficiary him/herself. If the members would like to be a part of the solution of the proposed task (cause), they will sign up.

The pledges could be monetary and non-monetary. The monetary type is rather clear – certain amount of money is needed for a cause and the pledge system is used as a fundraising tool. The non-monetary type – simply a tool for organizing groups of people to do something. Do what? Use your imagination… Think about it - the possibilities are virtually unlimited. Just a few examples:

    • I will stop smocking only if XXX other people do the same.
    • I will not use my car Mondays for 6 months if XXX other people do the same.
    • I will donate my old PC to the local school if XXX other people do the same.
    • I will write a letter about “this and that” to the President if XXX other people do the same.

    Get organized.
    Be active.
    Help and be helped.

There are no “they” – just us. If we don’t help each other, nobody else will.

    --

If something about the pledges is still not clear, please, post a comment on this page.

I need your help in getting my unborn son his surgery. he will be due May23rd of 2007. he has a diaphragmatic hernia. This is were is liver, stomach, and intestines are up in his just preventing his lungs from growing. He has a 50/50 chance of living. We live in southern IL, and have to travel to Philadephia, were he will get his surgery. Philadephia has been ranked number 1 in the world for the past 7 years. My son will get his surgery by the number one surgeon in the world, for children. We have alot of hope. We need your help in covering the medical bills. If my son makes it through his surgery he will be in an intensive care until for many months. He will be put on a ventalor, feeding tube, and a ecmo machine to help give him oxygen. When he is able and better, then we will beable to return home with our beautiful baby boy Landen Matthew Hayden. Thank you so much for your time. It is so hard going through this. I'm only 22 years old, and my husband is 24 years old, this is our first baby, and its very heartbreaking.

    CONTRACTOTR FRAUD VICTIMS BOTH DISABLED

DISABLED CONTRACTOR FRAUD VICTIMS  NEED HOME PLAN, PERMIT AND DESIGN AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. THE SKAGIT COUNTY PERMIT CENTER HAS SEND AN ORDER TO ABATE, BUT WE WERE ABLE TO GET ONE LAST BUILDING PERMIT EXTENSIONS. WE ARE BEING THREATENED WITH FINES AND POSSIBLE EVICTION NOW. NEED HELP ASAP!

I have tried to contact HUD, but I am told we are "over income" by their guidelines. My husband is a disabled veteran who will need to have major surgery very soon. I am also disabled from a medical treatment , but still pending a social security hearing and have no income at this time.

I think this whole ordeal began because we got married and that made us "over income" by HUD and other government standards. We can't make it much longer. Our credit cards are mounting rapidly just trying to keep this place, buy food and attempting to pay the bills.

My husband now (boyfriend then) hired a licensed and bonded contractor, since I was awarded this home from a divorce settlement and then found out the foundation was caving in and the fireplace was unusable. The licensed and bonded contractor was  Erick dba WLAM Construction and Roofing from Arlington, Wa.

We have heard that after Washington state Labor and Industries suspended his license in mid December 2004 after several members of L & I and a person from the Mount Vernon permit center came to our home to see the horrible condition the contractor us to live in.

The contractor left our home in a "demolition state" without a kitchen, bath or even running water. We are currnetly living in a tent in the main living area since the contractor took the wallheaters out. Erick H. Millholland lost his contractor license mid December 2004 and now has fled the state.

We can't get financing to do the desperately needed repairs to make our home safe and up to current codes, since the house is not finished and we don't have enough income. We are the victims of a horrendeous crime yet we can't get any help from anyone.

I believe we are all on this earth to help each other during both good times and the "not so good" times. The contractor did not get any building permits nor did he build anything up to current standards, most of the materials were used or substandard. The roof is not structurally sound and the electrical and plumbing, is not up to code and poses a risk to us as occupants. If we can't live here or get any help from someone, we will be homeless and disabled.

I feel that we are "falling between the cracks" of a system that is supposed to help people during their time of need. I am at the point almost giving up, since we cannot get help from any government agency. Is there anyone in our local building industry or housing agency who can help us?

    Thanks

    Ed and Cheri

I am a young fit 38 year old women looking for assistance in starting an Alpaca Ranch. I am in need of a cash gift of $100,000.00. I have found the perfect ranch equipped with most of the stalls and fencing and adequate space. I will be financing this ranch. I have half of the down payment and some of the start up cost, of which is my own money. In order to finalize and make this dream happen I am in need of financial assistance. In closing, in order to start this very prosperous business, of which not only will this ranch produce a very good income through breeding, selling fleece and showing. In fact, this will also allow me to do what I love and that is work with and care for animals. In addition, escape the stress of the big city, work outdoors and provide for my family. Ok. I am going through a tough time and would like to know if I can get some information from some of you. I am a 19 yo. single mother, of a beautiful baby boy. I recently got out of an abusive relationship, Vincents father. He is now in jail for about a year. I am living with my father, and working 45+ hours a week, paying $125.00 a week for daycare, and things that Vincent needs. I plan on going to school in April but I will need some assistance. I am barely getting by with the money I make and the daycare I pay for. I owe $3,000.00 in bills from my last apartment with my X, not including the medical bills from my son. I am in such a jam and very depressed. I want to be able to provide for Vincent on my own. And have a good life. I just don't know how I can get started. It seems like I will never get to where I want to be. I really need to know how I can get my life and Vincents life together (besides marrying a rich guy! HAHA!) If anyone can help send me in the right direction on aid or anything I would really appreciate it. I live in Florida and I am on the waiting list for daycare assistance, through ChildCare Res. Network, but I asked the woman on the phone how long I would be waiting and what is the longest she has seen someone wait, and she told me up to 3 years. So I am very stressed about my life! I NEED HELP! Please, if you can help either write back on here, or feel free to email me @ AndreaDHeintz@aol.com. Thank you for reading all of my problems!!!! HAHA! -Andrea & Vincent :o)
