In the year 2000 the Raymond-Hawkinson family was established. We bound our relationship with the purchase of land and a home. In 2003 we sacrificed what we had to try to save the lives of our beloved pets who were cruelly poisoned in their own yard by illegal area hunters. We lost our car which resulted in the loss of a job, then electricity/water and eventually our home and land.

We do not regret our decision to try to save the lives of our pets.

We discovered what our family truly wanted when we had to move out of our new house and live on the 2 acres of land we had. We learned how to build tipi's, we learned how to cook over open fire, how to use dehydrated foods, rely on the sun to warm our tipi and to heat water for bathing. We had to lug our own water so we also learned a lot about water conversation and recycling. We had no septic system to use, we had to learn safe methods of waste treatment. Had the house and land not been tied up in the same mortgage we could have let the house go without batting an eye. We had found something far more stable...but the land went with the house.

That experience while so many see it as heartbreaking really wasn't. We found that we had more when we had less. Now that we have modern housing that must be powered up and hooked up to water/sewer and we rely on grocery stores and the gas to get there...we are paying far more and have far less than what we had while relying on the earth.

Our family goal is to make our income count. If we could only get a piece of land and build unconventional shelters, grow our own much healthier food and use what nature offers to us we could be doing better in life.

We wish to build our shelter to compliment the abilities of our disabled family members and not be forced into paying expensive rents for adapted rentals or have to live with my mom the rest of my days which would include paying to have her house adapted.

If you can help us get started...we can do the rest. All we need is a piece of land in an unrestricted area.

We accept donations through Microgiving.  Microgiving requires proof of identity, income and need so you can feel confident that our family has met the requirements for a real and honest request for assistance.  You can visit our profile and donate if you are able by visiting this link: Homeward Bound

We are also a donor on Microgiving and we do try to help whenever we can that donor profile is

looking for employment

My husband died unexpectedly, he did not have life insurance or health insurance, he was never ill. Two months later, I lost my job. The next day, I filed for unemployment and registered with the TWC for help to find a job. I received unemployment until August. I applied for every job that I qualified for in the TWC listings, there were many, I only got a few interviews. I am not sure that the job postings were up to date, so many of them sent me responses that the jobs were closed. Some jobs were posted a day or two before they were to be closed. I have sent out so many cover letters with resumes and applications. I have checked with my references, no one has contacted them. I feel like I've been sending out paper airplanes into empty space.  Many of the applications have gone to State agencies which list job vacancies.

I am diabetic and am out of my medications, I was on the Aim Low program in my county, in August they sent a letter about changes, I called to be rescreened (first screened in May) and was told to call back later, this is what happens each time I call, I am clearly qualified. Initally, in May, I applied to several of the prescription assistance programs and was approved, they were sent to the Aim Low pharmacy. I found out by accident that they had arrived and had been there a month without my being contacted. I finally received them but have received none since and have not been able to see a nurse/dr for refill prescriptions. I don't know where to turn as my diabetes cannot be ignored. I am following what I've been taught in managing my diabetes, but that is not enough without the meds I was prescribed by my doctor while I was still working and had insurance. I have lost alot of weight (40#) and my blood pressure has dropped to a much lower rate than it has been in more than 20 years. I think those factors have helped me with the diabetes complications.

I receive a survivor's benefit from social security, but it is only enough to pay my rent with $34. left over, I am behind on my utilities and must seek help to get reconnected, often. My car engine light blinks constantly and it runs "rough" needs spark plugs changed and maintenance work, so my gas mileage is poor. On the weekends I set up with an art group to sell note cards that I paint, and some jewelry that make with left over supplies from better times while my husband was alive and we were both earning. I sell a little, usually enough to pay my booth fee and gas money and a little extra used for food during the week. My back, arms and hands are beginning to be stiff from the loading and unloading each week. My hands ache for days and swell. I don't have medication for that. Last week my allergy to smoke flared up and I have had nerve pain in my jaw, ear and head that is almost unbearable.

I have a daughter about 20 miles away who ignores me since I asked her to keep my dog, a Lab named Lizzi for 3 days so I could go to help my younger daughter who was having a myelogram to determine therapy for an injury she is still suffering from that was not initally treated properly. She has alot of pain from her injury and is in physical therapy, that is not covered by her insurance. She works, but the therapy is very costly and she does not have money to help me with. My older daughter works and has a partner, who also works, but requires alot of her attention and 3 adopted children.  They do not communicate with me since I asked them to keep Lizzi for those 3 days. They have 2 dogs and 4 cats and a big fenced yard. Several years ago, when they were living in a condo, they dumped Lizzi with us when they didn't have a yard. Lizzi is very well trained and is always on a leash with me. the vet told us she was traumatized and that she should not ever have to stay in a crate, for any length of time. She loves them and is always so happy to be with them and gets along with their dogs and cats. I am sad that my older daughter seems lost to me. I am so alone. I do have kind neighbors, but to have family that is so close, but distant, is sad. I try not to think about my older daughter, hoping that she will call are show up someday. My younger daughter cannot make trips to visit often as her injury makes a 3 hour drive each way, something very painful to do, and not miss work when she gets back.  I need help and suggestions of how to move ahead, I am not old enough to retire at 62. I have alot of energy to give, just not enough money to make ends meet. I guess I really need caring attention, most of all.

Hi, my husband & I live in OHIO. We have no children as of yet, but are preparing to become foster/adoptive parents. I am very into animal rights.Speaking up for those with no voice is my passion. We are both on permanent SS Disability. We live in a mobile home right now, but are trying to move closer to my family. Our mobile home has a ramp, but is not totally wheelchair accessible. So we are waiting to adopt until we move because I have a hard time getting out of it by myself, let alone a child. My husband helps my parents alot with things they have a hard time with. ( taking out garbage, mowing the lawn, running the sweeper, taking them to the doctor) So we need to be closer to their house. We found an accessible home  5 minutes from them. The landlord will hold the house until the first of the month & we need to sell the trailer to be able to pay the security deposit. So we have 12 days to either sell the trailer or come up with the security deposit, I am looking for an organization who will help us pay the deposit. ANY ADVICE WILL BE APPRECIATED & VALUED. Their are too many things that are way to difficult for me in our trailer, & an accessible house that allows animals that is not to expensive is hard to find, we cannot pass up this opportunity. It sounds like I feel sorry for myself, which I don't.Everyone goes thru hard times which make their strength & faith stronger. I thank God for what we have. I'm not looking for a hand-out, just a helping hand. ANY ADVICE?

Hi i'm Tina, I'm a full-time working mom that is struggling to make ends meet, my husband is laid off for the winter so it makes things really tough since his job is seasonal, we have three wonderful little girls that we think the world of and they don't know how hard we struggle to make sure there is milk in the fridge or shoes on there feet. On top of all of this, we feed alot of the neighborhood strays and have adopted a few animals into our house. We have alot of mouths to feed! But at the end of the day it is all worth it, and that's what keeps us going, that and faith in God knowing that this is just one moment in time and things eventually get better.

I have a wonderful job that I love, I work as many hours that I can, but lately we have had a few unexpected bills come up and that had to be taken care of. I had to use my rent money and insurance money to pay these bills. I have called everywhere to get assistance with my rent and insurance and most of the places tell me that in order to get help I have to have an eviction notice. I am trying to prevent this! If there is anyone out there that can help me with my situation I would GREATLY appreciate it!  I work so hard, It upsets me that I have to ask, but I will do what I can for my family, thank you for reading my post and even if you can't help financially please keep us in your prayers, God Bless!

Hi!  I'm Stephanie Green, founder of Critter Cove Animal Rescue.  I am looking for grants/donations to get my rescue up and running full-time!  We take in unwanted or abused animals (mostly cats and smaller), give them the love, attention, and medical treatment necessary then try to find loving homes to adopt them out to. I just don't know where to go for help without getting into scams!
