We are a disaster response/preparedness organzation dedicated to saving lives and helping others. Through education, training and operations, we are able to assist communities in preparing for a disaster or emergency event before it happens, plus we can proivde trained volunteers to help during and after such an event.

Whether its search and rescue operatins, Community Emergency Response Team training, emergency communications or just about anything in between, we are dedicated to making it happen. We have created a new site called Donate 5 For Disasters, that we are using to help us raise the much needed funds that we use to continue our efforts and help others.

As the site name implies, we are just asking for donations of $5. More would be great, less is accepted, but the more the better we can help. We are a registered 501(c)3 non-profit corporation and 100% of all donations received are tax deductible.

Hi! I am 46 years old . I have FSH Muscular Dystrophy.  I had to quit teaching ten years ago, and my life came to an abrupt stop! I was the mom who went everyhere with her kids, and usually several of their friends. I LOVED it!  My husband usually didn't participate, and besides, we didn't ever really get along that well.  It's not really that fun to DRAG someone along when they don't want to go! He always made sure if he was miserable, everybody was miserable!  Anyway, I got sick and could no longer drive, so I have been dependent on him for the last ten years.  He takes good physical care of me, but his looks and attitude let me know daily that he doesn't like having to do it!  I'm a very independent person, and I won't ask  for help unless I've tried every way possible to do it myself.  Sometimes I just go without!!  I basically haven't been out of the house in the last three yrs.  I got an electric wheelchair in Dec.,but I can't get out because I don't have a ramp. My husband promised to have one built, but its been 7 months. I need some help finding a way to pay for a ramp!  A grant, or loan; anything I could figure out to get one built!  Please help me! I need some fresh and sunshine. I am so bored, I'm going crazy.  If I could get outside, I could worrk in my flower beds!!  Any ideas wiil help!  Thanks for listening!

Dear Soulight,

I am in desperate need of some financial assistance to help me through this difficult time. The one thing that really bothers me is how my university of 4 years, has put me off from completing my Masters Program because I cannot afford to pay them $1,800.00 and because I am not working they have taken me off the program until I can pay this amount.  Although I feel it was not my fault I have no money to pay for a lawyer that can help me to fight this.  As it stands, my school loans from this univeristy is at 75,000.00, and I completed my bachelors with them in 2006.  My gpa stands with this university at 3.89, and they have no intentions of working with me to try and solve this situation.  They told me they cannot schedule me for classes because I am not working.  I feel discriminated from this university and hope that you can provide for me any organization that will help me to find financial assistance to gain some satisfaction towards this matter I face.  Presently, I am unemployed and am struggling to survive on a $422 a month income.  What type of individual grants are available to low income people like myself?  Please anything would help me.  

Hello Mom Lost job,

I lost my job on June 12, 2008. Have been looking for work ever since. I have a child that was in college. The child was accepted into a a program at a university where you did your last year of high school and first year of college. Last year when the child went to this university we  did not get aid so it was left up to me paying out of pocket for my child education. I had a hnadle on it then it became to much. I worked three jobs trying to keep up but bills started to fall behind. I was trying my best to keep my child in the college. My child did two semester and had to come home. I realized that I can not offered the program anymore. My child  came back home and tried to go back to high school but came to find out she finished and no need to attend. My child graduated this June. I owe the college a balance of $2989.49 my child can not go back until the pervious balance is paid off. I almost lost my home trying to give my child the American dream of attending college. My child  got a job and help me save our home we are on a forbarance plan with our mortgage company and this is the last month for the payment. Now all my child friends are going away to college in August and my child does not know where her future lies because she can't go back because of a previous bill. I feel like I have detroyed my childs life. If my child goes back goes back she will receive aid and she can take out loans because she is of age to sign contracts. The plan was to pay off the blance this summer so she can go back. But now I am unemployed. I gave up two part time jobs two months ago when things started to fall back in order. I got this great job at the begining of the year which was a great increase in salary and to only be laid off in six months. Now my child feels like she is lost and have no future. If there is someone out there that can make a denotation to her university so she can get her life back it will be really apperciated. I just want to see my child live a dream. I am not asking for funds to come to me but go directly to the university. I am putting this story out there. I am a single mother trying to give my child a better life. She is smart and has a chance to have a bright future. I am down on my luck and family can't help because my parents are retired and live on a fixed income. I hope someone can help. My lossing my job is the least of my worries. I just need my child to get her college life back. I will find another job I faith in the lord that that is coming any day now. I just need my child to get here life back so she won't feel like such a failure because she is not. Her mother failed her. I need to help her. I hope someone can help.

I want to get better so I can get back to my church, I am minister of music at wonderful

Church in Morrow Ga. Also please pray for our church we have a large dept that is a hardship

on our members to come up with every month, we only have about 100 members, and we have

a million dollar loan we are trying to pay for that was left from the former pastor, so please

if you can help in any of these area's it would be a blessing, O and if you need a tax write off

for a donation to the church, if you just send it, with a letter stating & ear marking what you want done with your donation, ie - a certain amount goes to the dept of the chruch and a certain amount goes to the Minister of Music(Bro.Jeff) and so on this is the best way for you

I am diabled and my girlfreind makes good money and she has 3 beautiful kids from previous marrage,

we recently had to pay heavy fees for the attorny to help get her full custody and it wrecked our abuility to pay our rent and lights . It's hard to give her courage but I try the local services say we make too much money to help us, then they give us their sympathies and send us elsewhere where we told the same or simular things. $1200.00 is all we ask but they give us directions elsewhere .we can't handle any loans because we won't be able to repay them. Is there any help out there? We have been putting off getting married because we had to spend it as well.

hi my name is vickie i am disable it is hard talking about my problem when u dont have anyone to talk to but god he is my only friend i was in a very bad relationship and lost evrything behind it i only have me  cant make it on what i have when the money gone from paying  some of the bills thier nothing left for food i walk with a cane i dont have a car i dont know how long i can go like this it is so easy to give up and i understand why people do what they do the pressure of living and having is so hard when your need cant be met i am living in faith and prayer if i can just get a little help  just a little that will be fine their just so much  but i have only a little thank you and god bless us all.......................vickie
