a little update for everyone.... I still havent gotten any funding to help with my schooling. I did have an offer from a member for assistance but then they sort of disapeared. I was kind of hurt by that but I am doing all right. I have a GPA of 3.5, which is excellent for me concidering the stress I am under. I have desided to continue my education in syracuse for a masters in architecture and I would like to design hospitals and hotels. My children will be in school by that point and I want it so bad I dont care if I run my debt into the ground. So I am taking out student loans to help with my education. I have already borrowed 10,000 dollars on top of my tuition each year. I need it for many things. But I appreciate the help that everyone has offered, especially the wizard. I have come to the conclusion that there are not any education grants for my situation. At least from what I undterstand in the eligability sections. I could have miss understood but if anyone knows anything else that might help then please write to me. Thanks again!

My name is Tracy. I am a 22 year old mother of 2 little girls and attending The Art institute Online for their Residential Planning Certificate. I am hoping to continue my education and obtain my bachelors degree in interior design. The only thing is I live in New York and the school I am attending is based out of Pittsburg. I qualified for about 500 dollars from the Pell grant and the rest I have to take student loans. I do not qualify for state aid because I am attending a Distance learning program. Once I have my certificate I will be qualified to get a job in a field that will enable me to provide for my family better than waiting tables (which is what I do now). I am wondering if anyone can give me information on federal grants that I would qualify for. Like I said I plan on continuing my education and I would like to continue through the Art Institute of Pittsburg but I cannot afford it. The only school in my area that offers interior design is Syracuse University and the tuition there is crazy. Plus it is still a 45 min drive and in the winter that wouldn’t be much fun. Also I am not so sure I would get accepted to that school. I would like to do as much research as possible in the next year till I am done with my certificate program so I am prepared to make the next step. Any information or suggestions will help, thank you so much!

Aidpage group discussing "financial need"...

Feel free to participate in this public group space.

Two easy ways to do this:

  1. Add a comment or a question here - on this page... or on any other page in this space.
  2. Or, if you want to start a separate thread - make a new page.

Either way is good - the important thing is your participation. On Aidpage, people support each other by speaking out and by paying attention to each other - as simple as that.
