I am a disabled vietnam era veteran. About two years ago I suffered two strokes and saw first hand the obstacles that people and families in need go thru when they are struck with an unforeseen incident. The world can turn into a cruel and cold and lonely place. It seems that the only visitors that approach you are people that want to take their pound of flesh. All the collectors come to collect their debts and there is no way of holding them off. Sometimes families are forced to make harsh and rash decisions just in order to survive the tradegy.

I do not want anyone to feel the way that I did when I had my strokes. Dealing with the feeling of complete loss and disarry of your life only compounds itself on your situation. It harms both you and the family around you in so many ways. The emotional, physical and financial strain can become unbearable. Along with the illness and long sleepless nights you are also plagued with the ever approaching feeling of doom. THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO SURVIVE!!!

I was able to first hand experience this and to speak with others that have gone through these incidents also. There are a few basic needs that must be met in order to get through this crisis safely and remain in a stable environment.

Basic needs include but are certainly NOT limited to:

Food / Shelter / Medical Care

Knowing that someone cares and that there are people who can or want to help, makes a big difference in bridging the gap to becoming healthy and viable again.

What I have decided to do and wish to attempt to pass on to people are both the basic needs and the knowledge that there are others that care and sympathize with people in need.

I hope to help bridge the gap between the needs and the needy!

I am starting a non-profit organization to help veterans and their families cope with the difficult and rocky time between receiving either their benfits or their pension. I wish to exted this service also to the homeless in need.  

I need help to get this venture started. Any help from you would help out the cause greatly!!!  One of the things that we need too do is purchase wholesale/discount/surplus items to raise  funds for the cause.  
  We can't do this without you and there are people waiting to be helped. Please help us bridge the gap between the needed and needy.

I want to be an organization that ACTUALLY helps, not just a name that people are turned away from when they are in need.

I have a real problem with some saying no to my daughter. I do not have any one to talk to or any Suport Group. Both of my Parents are deseased. I am a single Mom and I don't get Child Suport of any thing.  I don't make a lot of money, I just have enought to pay my bills and I don't have any thing left to get us some Food and I only get $ 10.00 in Goverment help, (Food Stamps). I don't go to the doctor. Because my Insurence has change and I don't know if I have a copay is $10.00 or more In not sure.  I just wish I had friends so some one to talk to.

Hello everyone, I will try my best to explain mine and my familys situation and maybe someone somehow will be able to help us in a true time of need. my husband was disabled with a rare disease in 1999 called syringomyelia (a cyst that grows inside his cervical spinal cord) My 13 year daughter was diagnosed with two different conditions when she was 13 and is now 16 years old. She is having to take florida virtual schooling because of her health conditions, I feel so sad for her because of all her High School memories that she will be missing out on, some good, some bad, but at least they would be her memories. Her (1 condition) is called the conversion disorder and her (2 condition) is nuero cardio sincapeid. We have become very far behind on all our bills, rent, utilities etc. while trying to pay for my husband and my daughters medicines. I will admit part of me is scared at this point in all of our lives but yet I pray every night that the Good Lord will open a door for us. this website i dont know maybe maybe not, but here i go any help out there or any donations that can be spared at this time, will be so deeply and truely appreciated and a blessing of mircales at this time in our lives. My name is Adrienne! I am 28 and I live in Queens NY. I would tell someone who wanted to know more about me that I am an unusual combination of personality traits - my life experiences have proven me strong and independent, but my inner nature is deeply sensitive, caring, and loyal. I love being surrounded by my close friends and my family, but I also have a desire to be alone for a time. I consider myself well educated ( two masters degrees), but I'm definately not well educated in areas of refined life experience. I have spent much of my academic and professional life working to rehabiltate criminals and help crime victims heal - so my work has been pretty intense but worthwhile - not to mention I can tell you fascinating stories until the sun comes up. I love learning and being exposed to new things/ideas and having new experiences.

I love life despite its ups and downs, I believe in the power of positive thinking, I am a deeply spiritual kinda of girl, I laugh ALOT, I am a great of communicator - sometimes I enjoying talking and but I more often love to listen. I love those who have passions of their own but still make room for others.

I'm the kind of person who believes in giving what she wants back 100%.

I am 31 years old and was diagnosed in the last 2and1/2 years with multiple disabilities.  The first of wich is arthritis, fibromyalgia, arthralgia, osteoperosis, 2 bulging discs in my back and finally I have to have major brain surgery.  I am asking  from the bottom of my heart, if anybody knows of any organization or donation fund, please let me know.  After my surgery I will be laid up for 6 weeks. We need help with bills PLEASE!!!!!!

DR's have been throwing pain meds at me since there is nothing else they can do to correct my back injury. I felt like they were interferring with my quality of life & have been looking for alternative treatments. I have found one that is working, which includes bi-weekly spinal injections (it is not cortisol or cortisone or whatever it is everyone asks when they first hear that I am getting injections). They are not without there own side effects.Anyway, I started getting those in Dec & had a short 6 day stint in the hospital in Jan with a 4 day at home recovery time. I used all of my vacation time at work, but felt it was all worth the trouble to get myself off of the meds. So I have a DR I love, who is weening me off of the pain meds & every other Tuesday I left work 2 hours early to get my injections. I thought everything was going great & wonderful progress being made. Wednesday the 6th of February I was at work & around lunch time I started vomiting. The treatment the day before had been more agressive than usual & I'm unsure if it was that or the flu or the reduction in my pain meds or possibly all three, but my office manager told me to go home & not come to work so sick. I called in the following day to notify them that I was still vomiting & the VP of the company told me we needed to part ways & that it was too hard to cover my shift. Part of my work has since been deligated to other employees & the computer end outsourced, so they are not hiring a replacement for me. On my pain meds I get a promotion & raises & now I'm fired.

It was my dream to buy a house for myself & my 3 children. I think it is exaserbated since I do not have a family & have never had a "home" to go too. I now wake up everyday thinking I am going to lose my house & I am trying everything in my power to keep it. I still haven't found a job even though there are prospects, my utilities are getting shut off this week but all I can think is keep the house & the phone & I can fix everything else later when I get a job. I have been making payments monthly to one DR who is now suing me because I cannot pay him right now. I applied for emergency enegry assistance but they said I made too much money in January $960.

I can hardly get out of bed everyday. I'm terrifingly depressed & have thoughts that I simply do not have. I'm a bawling exhausted mess. If I cannot pay for cobra insurance by next week, the DR that I think is so great, can no longer see me for my spinal injections or to continue to ween me off of my pain meds. We already know what withdrawal does  & this situation alone has me so anxious & upset that I'm already a shaky, emotional loon. I'm out of contact lenses & have to get an eye exam to get new ones & I cannot see two feet infront of my face which adds to my stress & insecurity.

I'm selling my paintings & am trying to get them posted online once I find someone with a digital camera. I also have a KEM Weber Springer chair that needs to be reapholstered. One that had been redone sold at Sotherbys for 5k. The chrome & everything important on that chair is in great shape & the cushions are fine, the fabric is just worn. I got it for next to nothing years ago & I hate to part with it but desprate times... 

I've lived on my own since I was 14 & I have always been proud of my ability to take care of myself & of others & asking for help is bordering on humiliating, I just don't want to lose everything before I have the chance to get back on my feet.

I have my resume up everywhere & have 2 interviews lined up & 17 applications out there but if I end up with no phone all of that will go out the window I am afraid. Also, I am willing to create new paintings & sell ones I have already completed. If I cannot get my spinal injections the pain will leave me unable to walk & if I have to stop weening off of my pain meds & end up coming off cold turkey I will be worthless and this could all put me behind to the point my family & I end up in a shelter. I have applied for emergency food stamps so we are ok in the food deptartment.

I know if I can make it until I get a job, it woun't be long until I can help others. My name is Sonja & thank you for taking to time to read this.

Hello, my name is Diane. I am in a desperate situation. I have intestinal cancer and unable to work. Recently, my neighbor (who I thought was a friend) stole 1000.00 from me. She knows how sick I am, yet stole from me anyway. I used to sell old coins and money on ebay. Now because of my loss, I had no way to restock my inventory. I used what money I had left to pay bills. I have had no luck with the state. They help with medical bills and food stamps but nothing else. I only make 650.00 from social security. I am so far behind on my rent now that the landlord had started the eviction process. I have no family, as I became a foster child early in my life. I have no friends that can help either. I don't know what to do as I have no where to go, or money to move if I did. I am on a waiting list for section 8, but they told me I could be waiting 3 years or more. I wouldn't mind so much living in my truck, but I have a small dog and two sweet kitties. I know they're not children, but they are the only family I have ever known. After all my surgeries (12) They have given me the inspiration to keep fighting. If I lose them now...
