FOR THE MENTAL RETARDATION AND DISRUPTIVE BEHAVIOR

My husband and I are both disabled, but I have a six year old grandson diagnosis of Mild Mental Retardation and Disruptive Behavior Disorder, NOS. Also My grandson has a number of other medical issues one being Seizures. My grandson is a joy in my heart to be with. He also is so loving to others. I have had so many medical issues myself one being a AVM of the brain. There was no surgical procedure. I had to have the GAMMA KNIFE. This procedure took four years to correct it. I also had sixteen inches of my colon removed due to a mass. I asked myself a number of times why I have been spared. What lies ahead for me. Well maybe I know now. There are so many children and adults with some type of retardation. What do we do for them? Well I will tell you my dream I have. Only can be done by the Grace of God, and imput and support by others who can close there eyes and picture what I am about to tell you.

My family and I have come across property of 236 Beautiful Acres, with a 17 acre lake, a number of different out buildings, with a estate house.                                                          At one time a Christmas Tree Farm The property has pine trees through out it, also wooded. BEAUTIFUL! CAN YOU SEE THE BIG PICTURE YET?

There is a winding dirt road that goes around and through the property. The property has been listed 4-sale as upscale residential development. Why destroy such beauty. Why! Can't you see playgrounds, playhouses, small animal petting zoo, camping, fishing, and much more. Parents and there children enjoying nature as it should be.

Our idea is try to do something for the children that can't do for themself, and some may never be able to. It is hard for these type of children to go just anywhere and be safe, but yet have fun. I have a cousin in his fourties with mental retardation and still lives at home. My aunt said that what we would like to do would be ideal for the disabled. The problem in these hard times is purchasing. That is why I am posting this. Maybe all of you out there can give impute. I would like to find out about maybe goverment grants. I don't know. I do know there has got to be away. Everytime I look at my grandson and his face with all the little frecklies and that loving smile he has, I see hundreds like him being together having fun.

Aidpage group discussing "MENTAL RETARDATION"...

Feel free to participate in this public group space.

Two easy ways to do this:

  1. Add a comment or a question here - on this page... or on any other page in this space.
  2. Or, if you want to start a separate thread - make a new page.

Either way is good - the important thing is your participation. On Aidpage, people support each other by speaking out and by paying attention to each other - as simple as that.
