(updated May 12, 2008)

I have been away from Aidpage, but not completely out of the picture. What I have I been up to?

I had been making many attempts to still get the word out about what I am doing, but I had not been received well at a couple places:

  • Myspace kicked me off four times. The fourth time, I managed to keep the page running for a few months, and I logged in only to discover that I was removed once again. I am not sure what their reasoning was. It was a description of how I was helping others. I had helped many families through that page so it was very disappointing, and I lost track of people in line to receive help.
  • I posted a page on Squidoo.com. and that page, too was removed after receiving a lot of criticism from members there. I wasnt asking for money; only describing how I was helping others. Apparently I seemed a little too good to be true or people just didnt believe me.

I HAVE been accepted with open arms at WishUponAHero.com. I am very active there under the name 'The Empty Hanger' Here is how I have helped and currently help others. To date, I have granted over 20 wishes, and more that is not tallied on the site.

  • Sending cards for birthdays, encouragement, friendship, sympathy. That just costs a stamp!
  • Offering advice on situations
  • Sending books (via media mail)
  • Sending spiritual literature (I returned to church in January accepting Jesus into my life)
  • Sending small packages of clothes
  • Sending coupons
  • Sending school supplies
  • Sending my old eyeglass frames to woman who cannot afford new ones. (current)
  • Workiing on a HUGE giveaway starting May 1st for WUAH. (shipping covered by anonymous donor)

OTHER CHANGES

  • 'The Empty Hanger' has been scaled back to a local operation. It was a difficult decision. Aside from what I do above, I still manage to provide packages of good usable clothing to persons in need. I find them at the local food pantry mostly, and word of mouth. Someone will email me at projectemptyhanger@mail2me.com, and we arrange a mutual public meeting place for the person's safety and mine. Its worked out pretty well, and I bypass shipping costs altogether. I do ask a lot of questions beforhand, because my genorisity has been taken advantage of on several occasions, and it is how I screen people. I find that those that are evasive are not being honest with me.
  • I am considering turning over 'The Empty Hanger' as an outreach project at my church.

ADVOCACY

  • Alzheimer's Awareness My dad passed away from the disease January 21st, 2008. He was diagnosed in 2003, and we watched this independant and strong man fight for a long time until we had to place him in a nursing home in 2006. It wiped us out financially and emotionally. I've currently been put into a position to help my mom who lost his pension (because she was not married to him when he retired). I use his likeness in many ways to help educate others about Alzheimer's. I am beginning an initiative for leglislation so that no other families should be forced into poverty for making the decision to place a totall dependant loved one into long-term care. You can view a video I made by visiting the following link: Alzheimer's Video
  • NEW! I also have changed my dad's tribute page to one of an Alzheimer's Awareness subject matter. It is called: Alzheimer's: Know More. I have also created tshirts and other merchandice to raise funds to donate to my local Alzheimer's association.
  • Go to the tribute page.

If your family is affected by this disease and need some advice or just to talk, please email me at projectemptyhanger@mail2me.com, and put 'Alzheimers' in the subject line.

Thanks

Elaine, for all your help and support to 'The Empty Hanger'

Staff and Admin of Aidpage for your support

Everyone here who reads and takes interest in my little endeavor!

I'm having a rummage sale! (Updated May 12th)

Locally, my mobile home community is having a rummage sale at the beginning of June. I am hoping to raise enough money on my own so that I can use some of the proceeds to send out a few more packages. My family has been busily cleaning out the house and garage, and wow the treasures that we accumulate in a year.

If you live in the Northwest Indiana area, and are interested in learning more about my community's rummage sale, please don't hesistate to ask. I will be offering discounts to my local friends at Wish Upon A Hero, and I am offering the same here on Aidpages. For details, please ask.

Global Civic Preservation Inc. (GCP), a non-profit organization founded on civic, social and economic principles, concentrates with tenacity on the identification and resolution of twenty-first century youth development, social matters, economic imbalances and challenges as they affect our local and global society.

The organization operates in two sectors (Local Youth Development and Global Missions).  The Local Youth Development Program was developed from experience and interaction with local youth, statistical analysis, observation, research and surveys completed on Metro-Atlanta and local youth.  Global Civic Preservation is concentrated on empowering, educating, challenging and motivating Metro-Atlanta youth through various activities, programs and events while demonstrating and educating on civic responsibility both locally and globally. GCP is working in collaboration with the local school systems, local authorities, government, community, organizations and corporations fulfil the vision and mission. The derivative of this program was launched from the alarming rate of local high school drop-outs, drug trafficking and usage, domestic crime among youth, pessimistic influence, lack of structure and guidance and various problems within our homes and communities.   Several programs and services within each sector will be utilized as a resource and a method of development for the other. These two sectors of the organization create opportunity for the other and will provide insight on civic responsibility while promoting cohesiveness and unity for a common goal of individual wellness and a brighter global economic future.

The Global Missions sector of the organization is sanctioned to research and develop programs and services to facilitate global empowerment to those that are in economically oppressed areas of West Africa.  More specifically Global Missions will aid in the economic development of Ghana, West Africa where economic imbalance and challenges can be easily recognized as economic oppression, poverty, malnutrition, starvation, social and academic deprivation, lack of development and progression from a civil and economic perspective.

Global Civic Preservation (Global Missions) has developed an intervention initiative to address these major concerns.  Through intervention GCP will help eliminate the perpetuating cycle of economic oppression, helplessness and global poverty, while empowering individuals with knowledge, education and employable skills.  The agenda set forth is to preserve our global society by consistently and diligently collaborating with local and foreign governments, The United Nations, corporations, businesses, educational institutions, faith-based and other non-profit organizations and individuals to provide resources and services to establish and maintain structured programs and opportunities to empower those in our society that aren’t awarded these opportunities due to economic oppression and challenges.

Global Civic Preservation’s initiative is to invest in citizens, communities (both urban and rural), regions and nations by empowering with knowledge, employable skills and opportunities while alleviating the rate of oppression, poverty, famine, unsanitary conditions and epidemic diseases.   This initiative also incorporates both local and foreign community involvement, affiliations and alliances with educational institutions, faith-based and other non-profit organizations to facilitate the organization’s vision.
As a non-profit organization, obtaining a permanent place in the civil / social economic development sector is our primary goal.  We wish to acquire international renown within the next few years. We see it as our main mission to provide high quality service to the targeted markets. Our basic objectives are reflected in our programs, services and work ethic, which is to contribute to the enrichment of the quality of lives for people globally.

The local region of Ghana, West Africa has seen a significant amount of economic oppression to include, homelessness, malnutrition, starvation, disease, social and academic deprivation that requires the attention, dedication and tenacity of a non-profit organization such as Global Civic Preservation.  The ongoing and overwhelming concern expressed by residents, government, organizations and the United Nations has stimulated GCP to assist in the economic, social, civic and academic efforts in the Ghana vicinity.

The government in Ghana, West Africa has initiated an agenda to improve education, infrastructure, health services and community development and Global Civic Preservation’s commitment, dedication and expertise in these areas is aptly suited to provide assistance and guidance in these affairs.

GCP in it’s effort to reform, develop and revitalize communities, cities and villages in the Ghana region, has a requirement  to receive and administer funds for educational, social, developmental and research purposes; and to that end take and hold by bequest, devise, gift, purchase or lease, either absolutely or in trust, for such objects and purposes or any of them, any property, real, personal or mixed without limitation as to amount or value except such limitation, if any, as may be imposed by law.

GCP is organized and shall be operated exclusively for charitable, educational and civil / social purposes, including, for such purposes the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under Section 501c(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. In furtherance of these purposes, the purpose of GCP shall be to:

  •  Stimulate major voluntary financial support from friends, corporations, foundations, and others for the sole benefit of empowering other individuals and communities globally.
  • GCP shall be responsible for the identification of potential donors, nurturing relationships, solicitation of gifts of cash, securities, real and intellectual property, and other forms of direct support; and the acknowledgement of gifts and all ongoing responsibilities related to such gifts.
  • GCP shall receive, invest and administer funds, subject to such restrictions as have been imposed by the donor thereof on the use of the principal and income of such funds.
  • Conduct such other activities and/or business for all other purposes that may be lawfully carried on or performed by a corporation formed under the Non-Profit Corporation Law of Georgia.

Our organization is currently seeking funding and sponsorship to fulfill our mission, objectives and aims for youth development, empowerment and individual wellness both locally and internationally.

Hello,

I have just launched a new website called MarriageByGrace.  This site was created to help others save their marriage.  I am on a mission to "STOP DIVORCE" and help couples in doing that.  Owning and running a non-profit web can be costly to advertise and spread the word.

Please visit my site, if you can help fund, donate or sponsor this site in any way would be very helpful.  With the donations I am going to help people that are in marriage trouble and can not afford to get help.  I am very active in the church and I have God watching over me to ensure the money is used right.

I am using one of the best web hosting services on the market because of the 99.9% up time.  I could of used a free hosing somewhere and domain name but I feel that this site needs to be up at all times.  I will be adding more and more to the site as time goes on.

Thank You
God Bless

Lon

Comment: I am asking for donations to help build a kennel for disabled Dogs!

Note: This aidpage was started as a comment on "Non profit start-up"
I am trying to expand my facility in order to take in more dogs. I receive from 30 to 300 emails a day about dogs needing a place to go because their are disabled. I would like to build a kennel to house them, otherwise they are being put to sleep. I am not asking for myself, I am asking for the dogs. Disabled dogs should have the same opportunities as normal dogs. I could write all day long about the dogs that are in need and I still would not cover them all. I cannot help them all, but there are alot that I could help. Please if you can help in any way I would greatly appreciate it.

(original message)
I am looking for a grant or private funding to help me, help the dogs I have and take in. I have deaf, blind, dogs that have been abused, dogs with hip troubles and dogs that are unable to walk good. I would like to become full blown non-profit organization and I am in serious need of a kennel. I am having to turn dogs away because I am out of room and funds. If you know anyone that might interested in helping me help these precious creatures, please contact me at bulloxers@hotmail.com Thank you!!!!

I am a very sincere and caring person. I want to help our senior citizens feel like they are wanted in our country and are loved at the same time. This is why I am searching for grants to care for the elderly, in their own home. I know approximately 95% of the elderly are sent to nursing homes and the other 5% are living with family. I know that when I'm a senior citizen I will want to live in my home as long as possible. This is where I come in. They need help for daily tasks. I want to give them this help. My parents and in-laws are in their 60's and 70's. My father and my father-in-law are both very ill and their wives are taking care of them as much as they know how and as much as they can. They both have very limited incomes (SSI, VA, and Social Security), as you all know this money is not very much to live on. There are hundreds of thousands of eldery that do not have the money or the resources to get them through life. Why must they struggle? Were they not helping to run this country in their younger years? Did they not go to war for our country and save many many lives? The answer to those questions and many others is YES! But what they hear now is no, I'm sorry you make $2.45 more than our policy asks for so we must deny you for assistance. So what happens, they either don't eat as much as they should because they need to buy medication or they cut their medicine in half of what they should be taken. This is America!! This is a country where we help each other and we are to be one of the richest countries in the world...where is the money for our elderly if this is so?

I need help with what I am trying to do. I can not do this on my own but am willing to put as much time and effort into helping the elderly and to make America understand that our government is not doing all they can do to help. I want to help the elderly in simple daily tasks (laundry, grocery, cleaning, organizing, fixing, etc.) and charge them by what their income is (I have to charge something due to having a college student and we all know how much that costs) and find a grant that will supliment what the cost will be after the client already paid. OR, have a grant that will pay for the entire service!

Please inform me at suekey1@aol.com, if you know of any grants that will help with this very serious program.

Thank you!

Helping The Handicapped Through Horseback Riding

To All That Read This,

My name is Michael and I wish to start a non-profit organzation that would enrich the lives of those physically handicapped. However since I have never done this before, I truly don't know where to start. In fact I have never "posted" anything in my life.

The premise behind my non-profit organzation would be horse riding. The benefits of horse riding are both psychological and physiological. The program I wish to develop would build confidence and self esteem. It would help in developing coordination and balance; affords freedom of mobility not usually available to the handicapped. It would offer outdoor or indoor fun and a sense of accomplishment. It would further allow able-bodied and disabled people in the community to work together, as well it would allow riders to develop some sort of independence not readily available to them.

I realize this endeavor is a mighty one. My wife to be grew up around horses and has managed a horse ranch herself for a number of years in Maryland. We have contacted horse trainers in our area and realitors who have shown interest in this project. It's just getting the ball rolling. Who do we have to see, what exactly do we have to do, what forms are neccessary etc. This is where we are at a lost. I started here with this posting in hopes of being guided in the right direction. Any help in our endeavor/dream, is most welcomed and deeply appreciated.

We would be happy to answer any questions to those who are interested in helping us achieve this endeavor. Thank-you for reading this!

Sincerely,

Michael & Tracy

UPDATE as of 10/24/07:

I have discovered the world of 501c3 and 1023 forms...and that incorporation is the way to proceed. And that to receive any monies through fund raising I first have to be a non-profit. I have already composed a "statement of purpose"...so my next step is to contact an attorney, an attorney that would consider doing it pro bona? Obviously this would be of immense help! However, I'm beginning to think that pro bona means "fat chance" in Latin. We will continue to persevere.

                                   Again, thank-you for reading!

Hi,

This is the first I ever heard of a site like this. I came upon it searching payday loan sites. My husband, 6-year old son, and 5-year old daughter just returned to Charlotte from Tennessee about 5 months ago. My husband is from here and he had a friend who offered him a job so it was our opportunity to move to Charlotte near his family like we talked of doing so many times. When we arrived, after many promises, my husband was without work for the whole first month, and when he finally started with the guy, it was very sporadic. Needless to say, he left us high and dry. After expending our savings and what little we had i credit cards to live on, he has found a job and I also work full-time. I also attend school fulltime online, on loans and grants nodoubt, becaus I know that this is the only way we are going to make it eventually. We are trying really hard to keep up, but it seems like we just fall further behind. I was hoping someone might have some info on non-profits that will help with rent or utilities. We are in jeopardy of losing our house we rent and having the utilities shut-off soon. Thanks for information anyone may have.
