I am a single dad raising my 14 year old daughter.  I am working only part-time because the company I worked for for the last 10 years downsized and left me unemployed.  In addition, I am a full-time student majoring in Computer Science, Information Technology and Web Development.  I am asking if someone could help me with my school funds so I can continue my education and raise my child in a good school.

It is very hard and I am doing my best that I can possibly do.  However, my daughter goes to private school because I don't like the way the educational system is in Philadelphia.  I am trying to raise money for my next year, so that I can receive my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.  Currently, I have maintained a 3.7 gpa and have made Dean's List 4 semesters straight.  I will pay back the money with interest after graduation.

I am being very honest and wish everyone the best in their future endeavors and for helping me out with anything they can donate to my cause.

I am desparately seeking help to save my home that I've worked so hard to keep and improved. I am disabled  and have fallen behind in mortgage and utility bills. My home is my safe haven and I'm in jeopardy of losing it.  I've been sick since a child but God has sustained me. I'm strong and my struggle has been great, but I'm financially broken and destitute. I can't work outside my home, and desparately seeking work at home.  My fixed income gets me by but I still owe debts and can't seem to pay some off yet. It's not extreme debt, but I can't get a hold on them.  I will pay a reasonable interest rate if I can get a loan or if someone just wants to help a good citizen out to clear some debts and live on my restructured budget.God surely will bless us both.   Believe me, I am a good person that has gotten into a bad situation with debt since becoming disabled.  Does anyone know who can help me?  I can't even find a grant without it costing too much or someone scamming you. Just like when I try and help myself and  find work at home typing assignments, some are scams.  If there's any angels out here, please find your way to me.   God bless you.

Hi,

I'm a single mom of one young adult daughter with mental retardation, two sons 16 and 11.  My 11 year old also is a child with mentatl retardation, both due to a hereditary condition called FragileX Syndrome.

Presently I have been searching the web for agencies that could help consolidate my debts, but I've read some not so good things about Consolidation debt/settlement, so that means I have to rely on myself.  I am looking for a loan to pay off my debts in order to increase my credit score and to one day purchase a home for my family. I am also looking forward to taking a course in Business Management so I can own a business.

I only have a certain amount years to complete paying off my debts and purchasing a home.  You see I recieve housing assistance from Philadelphia Housing Authority, Section-8. I was given 7 years to change my living situation so far 2 have gone by and I now have 5 years left.  I have manage to attend Homebuyers workshop and get my credit report and become employed seasonally.  At first I was doing fine for awhile, I was making certain sacrifices like spending a paying my household expense, wrote letters to my creditors making arrangements to pay them a certain amount each month and it was enclosed with the letters. My student loans were consolidated.  And me and my family were surviving on $100.00 on food.  I guess if I'm unable to get a loan I have to go back to doing that again to.

I need help in fulfilling those goals. Can you please help me?

Need some advice about whether to fix my truck

I have a 94 Ford Ranger four-cylinder manual transmission with 150,000 miles on it.  Until the transmission went, it was a great little truck for the ten years I've owned it.  It still runs, but I'm afraid to drive it.  It makes a lot of noise in first and second gear.  I had it diagnosed at a garage, and they said it needs a new transmission, but they wanted more to install a new one than the blue book value on the truck.  So...I bought a used transmission for it on ebay for $185.  The seller guaranteed it to be good.  The used transmission has 60,000 miles on it.  So now I have a transmission to put in it, but I can't find a garage that is willing to do the work for me, because they don't want to be held responsible - if it doesn't work, they're afraid I'll blame them instead of the used transmission.

I really need to get my truck fixed, but I have no idea what would be a fair price for the labor even if I could find someone to do it.  I'm a student on a tight budget.  Are there any private mechanics or small-time garages in the greater Philadelphia area on here?  Would I be better off to just sell the truck and transmission for what I can get and try to find myself another used truck?  Advice from someone knowledgable would be much appreciated!

No longer need

I am no longer searching for help. I found that the best source of help came from me believing in myself.  I reached out and no one reached back so I had to woman up and do what I needed to do to get back to me.

Spooky's Extreme Makeover

In December, I saved a wonderful dog from being put down after an attack by wild boar (yes, you read that right!).  I was fortunate enough to be able to borrow the money to pay for his treatment rather than let him be euthanized, but I still owe the lender $1250.

I've already paid the debt down quite a bit since December by selling a lot of my belongings, cutting out extras, and creatively budgeting my monthly expenses.  At the end of some months, I'm staring into the fridge and wondering if I can make a meal out of ketchup packets, maple syrup, and saltines.  :-)  Any donation, no matter how small, would help to pay that balance down and help me save up for his neutering coming up in August.  Check out Spooky's Extreme Makeover to read his story, and see lots of photos showing how fat, happy, and grateful he looks now!  And make a donation!

In terms of what I can offer the group, I am a good writer, so maybe I could help someone with their resume and cover letter to apply for a job, or edit the text for their webpage.

Hello:

My name is lynn. My friend Michael has become paralyzed recently from transient myelitis. A wheelchair, the size he needs, will not enter the doorway with him in it.

We are being told, no chair, no going home unless he can do this which is ridiculous.

I have contacted every agency I can find in Philadelphia for help.  Does anybody have any suggestions?

He is on low income and cannot afford to pay the cost of this modification to his home.

PLEASE HELP TIME RUNNING OUT ON OUR HOME!!

IT IS NOT IN OUR NATURE TO ASK FOR FINANCIAL HELP, WE HAVE ALWAYS BEEN HARD WORKING PEOPLE WHO PAY WHAT WE OWE TO WHOM EVER WE OWE, BUT DUE TO MY HUSBANDS RECENT HEART SURGERY AND DIAGNOSIS OF DIABETES, MOST OF OUR CASH GOES TO HIS MEDICATIONS AND TESTING SUPPLIES. WE HAVE NO PRESCRIPTION COVERAGE WITH OUR INSURANCE (STATE FUNDED INS). DRUG COMPANIES OFFER A SMALL DISCOUNT ON MEDICATIONS BUT ONLY AT ABOUT 10%, SO EVERYTHING MUST BE PAID FOR WITH CASH. THIS LEAVES LITTLE TO NOTHING FOR ELECTRIC AND GAS. WE ARE NOW IN THE HOLE FOR $1200.00 FOR OUR UTILITIES AND IN JEAPORDY OF THEM BEING SHUT-OFF. WE HAVE CONTACTED SEVERAL AGENCIES BUT THEY WILL ONLY HELP IF YOUR BILL IS $500 OR BELOW, SUCH AS CATHOLIC SOCIAL SERVICES & UESF.IF ANYONE CAN HELP US IT WOULD BE SO GREATLY APPREICATED! YOU DONT EVEN HAVE TO SEND US THE MONEY. I'LL GIVE YOU OUR ACCOUNT NUMBER AND UTILITY SUPPLIERS AND YOU COULD MAKE A DONATION PAYMENT RIGHT TO OUR ACCOUNTS. NOTHING CROOKED ABOUT THAT!!!  WE JUST NEED A LITTLE HELP TO GET OUT FROM BEHIND. THANK YOU AND BLESS YOU AND YOURS.

UPDATE: MY HUSBAND SUFFERED A STROKE IN MAY 2007, NOW WE HAVE NO INCOME AT ALL!!! WAITING TO HEAR FROM SOCIAL SECURITY BUT THAT COULD TAKE FOREVER!!! PLEASE HELP.
