What started out as a way to earn a little money to survive when my husband was laid off from his job has grown into a mission to unite women from all walks of life in acceptance of ourselves and others.

SugarPlumps are designed and handcrafted to inspire women to live up to our full potential.  Each healing figure displays a word charm representing a thought or reminder of our individual needs.  Whether we need to learn to love ourselves, so we can truly love others; or laugh at ourselves and embrace our uniqueness, we need to imagine a world where beauty is not dictated by the media, and believe we are all beautiful, powerful beings.  We should nurture and honor ourselves, each other and the world around us to ultimately create and accept the life we deserve.

Start a Business

I am a single mother of 2 young children and I am trying to start a home-based business. I am unable to work outside the home because I would not be able to afford the childcare costs. I am trying to build a business making, marketing, and selling handmade soaps and candles. I need this money to help with living costs while I am building the business as well as providing for inventory, equipment, and marketing costs.

need assistance for home and living expenses
I am a thirty-four year old women. I have had many years of unfortunate events. These events have led me in to the place that I am in today. I live with a friend, in her house. She has been kind enough to offer me assistance, with my living arrangements. However, because I only went to school up to the eighth grade, followed by a G.E.D. when I was old enough. I have not had the social or educational skills needed to become a productive independent person. Most of my life I have been dependent upon men for financial support. Recently it came to me. I had always been a type of endenchured slave. I earned my stay,I made very little decisions and I only received the esentials needed for living;soap, food, clothes (minimal). When I would make my decision to stand up myself I became a bad person. I would then be thrown out or leave when they were gone. Never taking anything except the clothes I had on. No where to go, no family,no job,no car.For many years of my life I have somehow survived this way. I am tired of it. I want to have my own house,my own job,my own life. I only need enough to start. Is there any help for me out there?

Aid

I would like to go to graduate school so that I have a better chance of having the best career possible. I am a single mother and I need to do everthing I can to better life for my son and I.

Graduate school funding

My name is Felicia Rock, a social worker and prospective grad student who resides in Snohomish County.  I have lived and worked here for over two years now, and have enjoyed much of what the county has to offer.

So why do I write?  After working at my job with f homeless families in transitional housing for close to a year, I felt it was time to get some more education to balance out my experience in the social work field.  I applied, and was accepted, for advanced standing at Eastern Washington University’s School of Social Work, one of the better programs in Washington state.  I will even be able to continue working and living in Snohomish County while attending school.  Financial aid is in place for the year and a half long program.  There is just one complication:  Federal aid does not cover the seminar I need to begin my post-undergraduate education.  I was informed of this two weeks ago, after several days of communication with the university.  It is a six credit 2 week class that begins at the end of this coming August.  I cannot start spring quarter without attending this seminar.  I am respectfully requesting sponsorship for this class in any amount up to the $1700 needed for tuition and books for this summer seminar.  I have tried all the conventional means, and those options are unavailable to me as well.

By beginning graduate school now, I feel that I will gain even more skills and knowledge to continue to aid the disenfranchised of this community, and later on a more global scale.  Thank you for your time and consideration.

Help I want to go back to school

Hi
I am a 35 year old woman that has been trying to get my life straight, and go back to school.  I attended college for the first time in 1988 (after having a very turbulent academic career in high school) I found myself and started to grow as an artist as well as a scholar.  I had to leave school because of financial reasons, I just could not afford it.  My parents were having there own financial woes and were unable to help me.  Unfortunately, for the past 17 years have been filled with long hard work and lousy wages.  I could barely pay bills let alone pay off a student loan and school too.  Well here I am taking a step out on faith, hoping that there is someone who is blessed to be a blessing and will loan or preferable grant me the money to pay back the loan and go back to school.

I want to open a small business

I want to open a small dress shop in Oceanside, CA and have no idea where to start...I had heard about small grants to assist women in opening small businesses, so I was just trying to get information on how to get started...

Looking for help and trying to help

I am currently unemployed and I don't want to take out a loan because I don't want to be stuck the rest of my life trying to pay it back. I have looked for government grants online but I keep getting linked to guides that you have to pay for which is ridiculous since why should I pay to find government grants if they themselves are free. Luckily, I found this site and hoping to find something that I can use. I want to become a health advocate/natural medispa owner.

new home

I am a single mother of two young girls. I receive support, somewhat consistently, for one of  my children only. I'm having difficulty in finding a decent home in which to raise my girls that I can afford on my own.I am also at this time, looking into starting my own daycare so that I can return to the workforce creating income to support ourselves on without having to pay for daycare for my own two children. ANY HELP WOULD BE SO GREATLY APPRECIATED. I have felt trapped for some time now and just need some help to get out from under my financial dependance upon my own parents and my daughters father-(combined, we manage to just get by while we all three share a room at my parents house.)

I need education so I can continue to support myself

I'm a 56 year old woman who entered the workplace late in life and divorced even later. I have only a high school education and no useful training. As I get older I am less and less able to meet the physical demands that manual labor impose on an aging body. I foresee myself as needing to continue working at least until I'm 70 in order to have enough money to live on after retirement. I need help in getting some sort of training or, preferably, education in a field that would make fewer or less strenuous demands on me. I support myself as a utility laborer in a factory and am not able to achieve any educational goals unaided.

Wanting to open a daycare facility

I have ran a very productive in home daycare for the last 6 years and currently have a growing waiting list to get into my home daycare.  I would like to purchase an existing home and make it into a small daycare facility that offers preschool, and care open to all shifts and open Monday thru Saturday.  If anyone could help me find what I can do to get help starting this up please email me or comment to this.  Thanks!!

I am a single mother of 2 children, 38 years old.  I am currently residing in southern California, soon to relocate to Florida and I am at the stage in my life where I need to continue learning, advancing my knowledge as well as my career and be able to give something back to society or the community.  I have followed a pagan path of spirituality and wish to earn a degree in Holistic healing.  If that is not yet feasible, then I wish to pursue my dream of earning a Recording Arts/Audio Engineering Degree so that I can satisfy my soul's need to create music as well as collaborating with other musicians in the industry.

This yearning soul needs to learn as well as find ways to help me make those dreams come true, as I do not have many available funds being a single parent in the high inflated world of today.  If anyone knows any links or resources that I can access or contact for grants or scholarships I would greatly appreciate anything offered.

Also, I wish to find information on women owned business help/resources:  start up grants/investors, and any other business assistance available to someone such as myself.  My goal in this area is to be able to pass on a successful business to my children as I make their lives easier and can provide all they need from me as a parent.  So, anyone who can assist me, I appreciate the assistance, advice or whatever it may be that is offered.

Woman-owned business

I have a small business located in Martinsville, IN.  I have a disability, and I have worked for several years through Vocational Rehabilitation to help other people with disabilities.  The state funds grew smaller, so I saw the need to hire two employees and expand in October, 2004.  We made a business plan, and tried to get grants, but anything we could find was for non-profits.  We built two websites, hoping to make money on those while waiting for the process for certifications to start home modification assessments, design, for aging and disabled for medicaid. So far, I have encumbered $100,000 already building small business.  It took so long to get the certifications we needed that, now that we have our certifications, and are starting to work the projects, I am running out of funds to pay my employees and keep my business going, not to mention all the loans I have incurred to pay my employees on startup.  We spent $6,000 on a grant consultant company that was a hoax, because all they could really offer was grants for non-profit.  We are not non-profit.  We are a for-profit, sole proprietor business which helps people with disabilities and aging. We now have our certifications, and have met with aging and disabled offices that will be using our services, but there will be more time involved in actually working those cases, billing, and receiving our money from the state.  I am out of resources at this point, and need help.
