Hi everyone,

I left my full time job 4 years ago to take care of my mom who has Alzheimer's. I am her sole caregiver. We have been living on her social security and pension just fine but the amount my mom gets just takes care of the bills in the house plus allows me to buy enough gas to take her to the senior citizens building twice a week to get in some walking for exercise and occasionally mom gets her favorite meal from MacDonald's, a double hamburger, fries and a coke. The only thing I spend money on is cable (no premium channels) as this is the only recreation I have. I'm in the house with mom. There are no friends coming around because I moved away from my home to take care of her. I haven't had my hair done since I moved in with my mom (she hasn't either). Just painting a picture that extra money is not being spent on frivolous items.

I'm very good with mom's money and have always managed to save enough out of her pension and social security to pay taxes on the house. However, this year I was not able to save the money because my mom went into the hospital last year for a couple of months and when she came out she had 9 new prescriptions that she needed to take. She was only on three medications before. We were paying $58 a month on her medicine before she went into the hospital and now we are spending $310 a month. This has eaten into the money I would have saved for taxes. She owes $2500 in property tax for fiscal year 2007.

For fiscal year 2008 mom is eligible for a 50 percent reduction in her property tax because of a program the city has started to help seniors stay in their homes. So I will be able to save the money to pay next year's tax. I will get rid of cable and take mom to the senior citizens place once a week. I went to PharmAssist to see if she could get help with her medicines but they would not help her because she already gets help for out of pocket expenses through her health insurance. I have to admit she does have good health insurance and I'm not going to lie here and say her out of pocket for when she was in the hospital was outrageous. We paid her medical deductible for the year and with that and the new precriptions we just ended up short this year for the $2500 property tax.

I have been trying to raise the money for the tax. I have one sister and one brother and they have been trying to save money but in the end they could not help me. I don't work so I can't take out a loan and I have been trying to get a loan on my mother's behalf. One mortgage lender responded (I went through Lending Tree) and would only loan mom a minimum of $15,000 and my mom had to do a second mortgage with points, a higher interest rate than she has on her first mortgage and that kind of loan along with the first mortgage would wipe us out, so I was not crazy enough to do that.

If anyone has a creative idea or solution or can just plain help, please let me know. The city has sent my mother's case to an attorney for foreclosure to sell my mom's home for this $2500. My mom's house down the drain for $2500. And where do I go with a mother with Alzheimer's? I don't want to put her in a nursing home at this time because she is still aware of herself and others (she is always asking for my sister and brother who NEVER come to see her, and her grandchildren). It would kill me. And I have no idea where I would go because I have not worked in over 4 years and my last jobs was 600 miles away from where I moved with my mom. I know nothing about this city because all of my time has been spent with my mom, so I do not have any friends here and I don't know where to go for help.

Thanks for listening.

Desperately need help!!!

I am mother of seven, who has been diagnosed with fibromyalgia.  I am currently out of work; and able only to work certain jobs, that makes it that much harder to find one.  I had deposited two checks totally $5,000; not knowing they were part of a scam. The checks were counterfeit; I am now facing legal matters if I don't find the money to pay the bank back.  The bank says they will press charges if I don't get this paid back as soon as possible. (I don't understand, I became a victim in a heartless scam).  I have tried to find help, but none of my family are able to help me; they are having financial problems themself.  I don't know where else to turn to for help.  I hope there is someone who can help me and my family out of this. I am trying to get my life back on track, and I thought I had won the lottery, and so I deposited the checks, not realizing it has created a nightmare for me and my family.  My life in the last two years have been a long rough roads, with obstacle along the way.  With having fibromyalgia, I am finding that my decisions are clouded, and not real well thought out.  I am having to learn how to deal with this one day at a time, which is hard for my children.  If there is anyone that could help me to clear this matter up, I would appreciate it.  God bless.

CEREBRAL PALSEY CHILD

MY SON JAKE HAS CP, HE IS 20 NOW AND I HAVE BEEN THROUGH SO MUCH. HOWEVER I WOULD NOT CHANGE ONE THING. NO MATTER HOW HARD IT WAS. I ACCEPT THAT THIS IS ALL MEANT TO BE. JAKE HAS SUCH A HARD LIFE. HE CANNOT WALK AND HE HAS A VERY HARD TIME GETTING PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND HIM. WHATS MOST AMAZING IS THAT HE SMILES ALL THE TIME. HE IS THE BRIGHTEST, MOST AMAZING PERSON I HAVE EVER KNOWN. I JUST WANT TO HELP MOMS LIKE ME WHO ARE OUT THERE . I KNOW ALOT ABOUT ADAPTING AND OVERCOMING. ME AND JAKE ARE SO HAPPY MOST OF THE TIME BECAUSE WE FIGURED OUT HOW TO COMMUNICATE. THE FUNNY THING IS THINGS JUST KEEP GETTING HARDER FOR US BUT WE ARE HAPPY ANYWAY BECAUSE IF JAKE CAN SMILE IN SPITE OF ALL HE HAS TO DEAL WITH WHO AM I TO COMPLAIN?

Caring for Grandmother

I am a hard working man trying to make ends meet while caring for my grandmother. I maintain the house by mowing the yard and taking the garbage cans to the street, and basic upkeep that otherwise, grandma would have to pay someone to do. My Grandmother is on a fixed income and I help out whenever I can. I am trying to obtain a better paying job to try and ease the burdens. I am a man of great faith and I have ask tke Lord what I can do? I try to maintain hope and I know that my higher power will not put any burden on my shoulders that I can not handle, but sometimes it is so hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I am asking for financial help in any amount and also some words in inspiration from you that have been in my position before. May God bless you and your loved ones. The photo I posted is of Grandma and I at my Grandfathers funeral, may he rest in peace, I'm sure he is up in heaven guiding me through this process.

I am a 41 year old mother of 5. (now 4) I lost my seventeen year old son, Eddie October of 2006. My son had lived with me for 16years and then against my wishes and a judge's better judgement he went to live with my ex. He was their one year and a day and died in the home of my ex's girlfriend from a drug overdose.  My ex. was incarcerated at the time of my son's death; which I had only found out 1-2 weeks before my son died. So many people dropped the ball. My son at the time of my ex's incarceration should have been returned to me. His biological mother. He was not an adult. No one even called me to tellme my ex was in jail.  There are many rumors my ex was dealing cocaine.  The house was a hangout for many Butler teens.  But what child is going to rat out on people who allow them to party and hang out in there home.

I could not even see my son until a week after he passed. Because some idiot bailed my ex out of jail and he went to the court to hold up the funeral.  To make a long story short I was I was permitted to proceed with the funeral arrangements and cemetery that I had chosen; but this did not erase the aching and seperation from my son for a week.

My ex had the nerve to call that day after court; crying begging to be allowed to have his own wake.  I did not want to give him a single thing after the misery he put me through; but I allowed him to his own wake so not have to deal with him or any obnoxious teens who saw my son the day he passed and commented to a teacher how bad he looked and how his lips looked blue; yet they did nothing.

I was unable to pay the funeral expense and am in collection with 18% interest accruing. My son still has no headstone because the money I put down as a deposit was taken and put toward the funeral cost (same company) so they took that because I had not made a substantial pymt.

My husband is out of work and has been since 6/2007 when he fell off a ladder and broke his heel in two places. He recently had a second surgery in March.  I just can not get a break. I am in collection all over the place and my land lord took us to court last week for eviction. My rent is astronomical and I don't even live in some luxurious house. It was built in the 70's and is only three bedrooms.  I cant save up anything to move because my rent is 2400.00

My landlord is Aaron Osmond from Utah.  Guess what his aunt is Marie Osmond.  I wish I had a way to contact her and let her know how inconsiderate and money hungry her nephew is.  Would not go over to well for that perfect american family would it?

I don't know what anyone would or could help me with.  Payments to Ferguson's Funeral Home in Vernon, NJ on behalf of my son Edward M. Castellano would be appreciated more than I could ever say.  You can verify my story by googling his obituary I believe.  It was in the Bergen Record and another paper the Herald I think.

None of my family really can help me. My parents divorced years ago and my dad remarried with a whole new family; young kids even. My mom just about can pay her own bills. My eldest sister is mother of 5 and does not work and her husband leaves for Iraq in June. My second oldest sister lives in Canada and does not bother with any of her family really.  My middle sister is in NY state and her husband is out of work for a couple of years now and my sister closest to me has three of her own and her own financial issues. I thought about doing a web page and asking anyone to send any thing dollars even to the Funeral Home directly; but I don't know how to go about that.

I have always done what I can to help others. Donating clothes; working at a food pantry; and serving meals to the poor; teaching religous ed. I do work in a small community hospital in Sussex County I am also in college. The pay is not like it is for larger hospitals and I barely live paycheck to paycheck.  I just need a break; for once in my life a break.  I don't want to go on and on; but I could. I have had an abusive marrage (my first "the ex")  I have lost a home (my first) and I have lost a child.  Can anyone help me.

I am writing on behalf of my brother who suffered a massive heart attack and loss of oxygen to the brain resulting in a stroke 4 months ago.  He is only 45 years old.  My reason for this email is to request information for financial assistance for those who have suffered a catastrophic illness.  My brother now requires 24/7 care.  His wife cares for him at home.  My brother will receive social security benefits along with some disability insurance income for the household income.  The expenses exceed the income and my brother healthcare insurance does not cover out ot network providers.  So, any visit to the Doctor comes out of their pocket.  Medicare coverage will not be effective for 18-36 months.  Could you direct our paths to find out if there is some type of grant assistance for
spouses that choose to care for their loved one at home?  State funding such as, medicaid, is not an option since my brother has been in the workforce for the past 30+ years and does have some resources.  My sister-in-law has done an outstanding job.  She is completely devoted to her committment as a spousal caregiver.  She has even given up her healthcare coverage in order to elect COBRA for my brother.   Any and every bit of information would be helpful to our family.

Thank you for your time and cooperation.

From a little sister who loves her big brother!

I've been diagnosed with a heart condition just this past December. I have worked and provided for myself and my 2 children who are now adults and they are on their own. I can't come up with the security deposit for an apartment and buy a car to get around in. I live with my daughter and her husband. They are very sweet but, I feel awful because they have only been married almost 3 years and of that small time I have been living with them off and on for a year. I really need to move out but don't have enough money. I was just  let go from my position that I had been working with a so called friend. I still have a job but, have not be called to work with the employer on a steady basis. My employer has other homes for me to work in but, I have not been called yet. I need to finish school but, every time I try I must accept work in order to support myself. I'm trying to do what I need to do but it is so frustrating when I have to back up and get side tracked. I don't expect a hand out just a loan of a good size to get an apartment and a car. The car is so that I can find better work as the kind of work that I do requires that I have transportation. The apartment can be small as I don't want to pay high rent. I believe with the kind of work (I am a residential caregiver) I would be able to afford a small apartment. I will pay the loan back at a reasonable rate and time. Thanks for your time and attention. I do need this help. Send the loan with the terms of repayment to DP pob 25264 Raleigh, NC 27611 I prefer to keep this strickly business and on the up and up. Thanks
