I'm a 25 year old white female from Louisville, Kentucky. Since last summer I've had financial difficulty. I lost my job due to downsizing and was unemployed from July '04 until January '05. During that time my credit card balances soared and I had to borrow money to get by. After I found another job in February I thought things  would start to get better, but I couldn't afford much more than the minimum balance due on my loans. I filed for bankruptcy in March. I lost my '03 Honda in the bankruptcy and had to fix up my '93 Honda to get back and forth to work. The engine blew and I had no choice but to borrow money from friends and family to get the car repaired. After the engine was put in, several other things went bad and had to be replaced as well. Now I owe $5,000 to friends and family who really need the money back. I've tried applying for loans, but having a recent bankruptcy I keep getting denied. I have an idea that might make getting money easier on you.  The way the average positing is worded makes it hard for a contributor to make a donation.  You also would have to give out your physical address which is not very safe for some of you. My suggestion is that you consider opening a PayPal Premier account. To my knowledge, all you need is an address and a bank account to set it up.  Once you have an account, people can send you money from either their own PayPal accounts or using a debit/credit card.  PayPal does take a small cut from the money you receive.  You can then transfer money into or out of your bank account for free - it takes 2-3 days for the transfer to complete.  There may be other services that do this, but I am not familiar with any others.  Certain PayPal is amongst the most known trusted. You can reach them at www.paypal.com

Once this is set up, you will just need to give out the email address linked to your PayPal account in order to accept a donation. Perhaps one day PayPal might consider making receiving donations free, so that you don't even lose a few cents of the money you need.

If anyone knows of any other service  that does not charge, please post it!

I just sent off a letter to PayPal asking that they waive transaction fees for people accepting donations from aidpage.com.  Now I don't think that they are going to do anything just because I asked them to, but perhaps if they receive emails from a bunch of us, it might get considered.  The email address of the PayPal president is  rdutta@paypal.com.  The email I wrote is:

"There is a site on the web called aidpage.com.  If you look at it, you will notice that it is mostly made up of people in horrible situations begging for money.  It would make is so much easier for them to accept donations if they were able to use a service like PayPal to do it.  The problem is that PayPal fees might be a hardship on some people who might get very small donations of just a dollar or two.  Could you find a way to allow them to accept unlimited donations for free? Hello all.  I knwo this is desperate, but it is a last resort.  I am in serious need of financial help.  I cannot get a loan, because my only income is child support for my oldest child.  I have three children and a fourth on the way, just became a single parent.  Am sleeping on a couch and just really need some help.  I just want to try and give my children a better life, but I cannot get a job at the moment because no one will hire a pregnant woman, plus i have no one to babysit my younger children while I work.  I have gotten myself out of a nasty marriage and just need to get on my feet again.  I am loosing everything fast and do not know what to do.  I have even tried those work at home things, but unfortunatley, I cannot even afford to pay the fees to get into one of them.  Anything would be helpful right now.  I do not even have a bank account, only a paypal account.  Anyone have any ideas???

After taking over my father's small business (he passed away in 2002), I found out you need money to make money. The business is vinyl graphics. I need help paying my electric bill. Necac says they will pay up to $300 but first I have to come up with the other $800. I have numerous medical problems and can't work, I have a 10 year old daughter with heart problems. I lost my 15 year old in October to a car accident. My boyfriend does odd jobs and such but that doesn't bring in much money. We had been on a payment plan with the electric company to pay the current bill and an old balance, but last month we didn't have the full amount. They said we could make a partial payment but did'nt tell us that if we made only the partial payment that we'd be kicked off of budget billing. Anyway, they sent me a disconnect for $1200, the full amount we were paying on. The electric and gas was shut off 2 days ago. We borrowed a generator so that we can at least run the refridgerator and an electric griddle to cook on. I have asked everyone I know to loan me the money but no one has it. I can pay it back at about $100 a month. Thank you for any help at all.
