Feel free to participate in this public group space.

Two easy ways to do this:

  1. Add a comment or a question here - on this page... or on any other page in this space.
  2. Or, if you want to start a separate thread - make a new page (see the menu on the top-left).

Either way is good - the important thing is your participation. On Aidpage, people support each other by speaking out and by paying attention to each other - as simple as that.

Scholarships are FREE

Scholarships are FREE

Most people going to college get one scholarship and then apply for a student loan to cover the rest of their educational expensis.   This is OK, but student loans have to be paid back.  They cannot be forgiven even with Bankruptcy.  The only way out of a student loan is by dying or becoming so disabled that you can not work.

But there is no need to get a student loan.  You can get as many scholarships as you want to pay for your schooling.  There is no limit on how many you can have.  And you can get grants to pay for all the rest.  All it takes is a little effort on your part to hunt down and apply for these scholarships and grants.

Go to www.yourgrant.com/scholarship.htm and check it out.  With a little effort and study on your part, you could go to college FREE.

I am currently struggling my way through life, working full time to pay current bills and trying to put myself through college. When i was about four years old my mother died and since my father was not involved in my life i was orphaned then adopted by a guardian. Throughout my life i have had to overcome this obstacle. I still can remember my birth mother and how she used to sing me to sleep every night before her passing and carry this through my life everyday and think about her and what she would want me to do with my life if she where alive today. I want to go to college with every fiber of my being and I strongly believe that with her memory in hand i can achieve my goals and become a successful and vital person in the world. I struggled through High School when i was finding myself and discovering my past because of my mothers death but with my dreams falling further away with every failure i came across, my drive became so intense to make my passions become a reality in going to college and i managed to succeed at school and in my life. I really need help making my dreams become a reality so i can become a teacher and have a succesful life but without the proper fundings, i fear i will not be able to accomplish such goals and will be stuck working a minimum wage job the rest of my life.

Financial help wherever possible

I am a graduate from Jefferson High School in Indiana. I am willing to send out as many applications it takes to reach success! I define success as making short goals for your self to reach that one long term goal you so dearly strive for. Doing whatever it takes, and as you can see this is one short term goal that I am willing to make to become well educated, and understand the real world for what it is. If anyone out there can help me please do. My email address is geo42385@hotmail.com thanks

Seeking financial aid, grants, scholarships, etc.

To whom it may concern:

My name is Amber Bernhardt and I am a senior in high school. I live in Canton, Ohio and go to Choices High School. I have had a rough time getting through school due to many family and personal problems and am almost ready to graduate. Yet, I have no way to pay for college. My mother is a single parent raising my and my younger sister. For 13 years, for financial reasons, we lived with my grandmother, scrimping and saving so that we could move into a place of our own. Finally in May of this year we were able to move into a duplex of our own. We currently have one vehicle between two houses and that's a difficult move to pull off, especially since I am the only one in my entire immediate family with a driver's licsense. My day usually starts at about 6:30am, when I wake up to take my little sister to school. I come home do laundry, dishes, or some other odd job that needs done around the house. At about 10:45am, I take my uncle and my mom to work. They work at the same restaurant and for the same people that they've worked for since before I was even thought of, yet, they get paid very little. After I take them to work I come home, try to catch up on homework or relax for a little while before 1 o'clock rolls around, which is when I have to go back to the restaurant and pick my mom and my uncle up for their break inbetween shifts, which they work everyday. I take my uncle to my grandma's, which is where he currently lives, and my mom and me go home. At 2:40pm I go to pick my sister up from school, come home and get my stuff for school and my mom. I take my little sister to my grandma's, where she stays after school while I go to school and my mom and uncle are at work. When I drop my sister off at my grandma's, I also pick my uncle up, in order to take my mom and my uncle back to work for the night shift. Then when all that is done and over with, I take myself to school. I am currently going to night school because of my family needing my availibility during the day in order to get to work, school, etc. I have had a very long hard road to try to walk on and get through school in order to graduate with an actual high school diploma. I had to drop out of school for about a year in order to get a job and help my family with bills. I finally went back to school in September and will be graduating with an actual high school diploma in June. I keep emphasizing "actual high school diploma" because I was so worried that after dropping out, I would only be able to go back to school and obtain my G.E.D. Thank god that is not the case. My mom has her G.E.D. and I've seen that it doesn't really do alot for you in the world of work. So, I've pushed myself in order to be able to get back in school and now I'm finally going to meet my goal of graduating. I have dreams of going to college and obtaining a Master's degree in Occupational Therapy with the hope of opening my own Pediatric Occupational Therapy Center in the future. Occupational Therapy has been the career that I've wanted to pursue for about the past 5 years. I fell in love with Occupational Therapy when after years of rigorous physical therapy sessions my little sister had endured due to complications at birth, she was sent to an Occupational Therapist. I would go with my mom and my sister to her therapy sessions and I would watch the drive and the passion that the therapists had and I imagined how wonderful it would be to help make the lives of children who are less fortunate, easier and more normal. I knew then that it was a very rewarding and wonderful career. That would be awesome if I could have all of my dreams come true, but in order to do that I need money. The one thing that has stopped most of everything in my life from becoming a possibility. I really honestly believe that there are people out there who want to help and will help, you just need to ask for it. Although I am very hardworking and pretty satisfied with my life, this is one thing that I really NEED to ask for help with and this is my way of reaching out and asking for someone to please help me. I am a very selfless person and am always willing to help others, which is the why it is so hard for me to ask for help. I would really, really apprieciate the help if anyone out there can afford to. I will not let you down or waste your money. I am willing to work as hard as I possibly can to obtain my goals and dreams. I just need a little help to get me started on a successful path.

Sincerely,

Amber Bernhardt

Small business start-up...

I am a self-employed contractor, since 1990. I have many years experience operating bulldozers and backhoes, for excavating and demolition work. I now am at the age where I realized that I can purchase the equipment instead of renting it. I found a used equipment dealer in Dallas, that will sell me $130,000.00 worth of equipment for $70,000.00 if I buy a Dump Truck, Backhoe,Trailer and Bobcat Loader all at once.
I have potential deals with local builders and Contractors to do work for them at the rate of $125.00/HR..
This would enable me to repay a loan in a timely manner. My problem is that when I was a Teenager, I destroyed my credit rating, thus have been doing cash transactions my entire life. I now have a 7 Mo. old son, and am trying to build a scholarship fund for him so he won't have to struggle like I did.

government grants and funding for single parents

My name is Adrianna. I'm 17 years old and live in Sumter, South Carolina.

I have a 5 month old little boy named Aiden and we are staying with my  mom until I graduate from high school.

I moved to south carolina from Salt Lake City to live with my mom when I got pregnant because my dad couldnt take care of me and an infant. The school I went to in Utah was amazing. I learned so much there and absolutely loved going and learning and interacting with others. I was in clubs and on the swim team and just was ecstatic to be there. Unfortunately, the education system and its establishments here are not so great. Being a student at a public school in sumter feels more like a third world country. I hate going; Nevertheless i go and I get good grades but I dont want to stay here. and my mother is driving me insane; God knows I love her but I cannot live with her.

I would really love to go to college more than anything. I have so many dreams and ambitions but I feel like its impossible so I'm searching for ways to get scholarships; grants; funding; etc..for housing and babysitters and school. I need it all. I have to move out soon and i dont know what im going to do if I cant go to school. I'm  looking for information on housing and school in utah

I just have no clue where to start.

please help

I am 24 years old and a happy mother of two little boys, ages 4 and 2. I am dovorced and my ex has moved out of state. I do recieve aid from the state for child care, some school fees, gas money for driving to school, and food, and monthly bills. I am not asking help to pay bills, but a one time assistance in getting a new used vehicle for me and my boys to help finish my externship to graduate. I am not one to ask for help, I try to make it on my own until i have no other choice to ask for help. I am in desperate need to get a vehicle to drive to my externship site, I have just alittle under a month left until i graduate and can start my career as a vet assistant.

My hobbies are taking my kids to the duck pond, zoo, and i also write poetry and short stories. I am a family person and just trying to make it and give my kids what they deserve. I appreciate anyone who takes the time to read this, and sincerley thank anyone who can spare just a single dollar in this complication i have risen upon. God bless you all.

Minority Engineering Student

I am a sophmore, mechanical engineering major (3.0 GPA) student, currently attending Savannah State University in Savannah, GA. I am in need of some type of aid to help cover the overwhelming costs of tuition and textbooks. After earning a Bachelor's degree, I plan to continue my education at Georgia Institute of Technology and earn my master's degree in Mechanical engineering. I believe my creativity and strong work ethic will make me a valuable asset in the industry.

I am also interested in internship opportunities availiable in any field of engineering. I am most specifically looking to gain experience in mechanical engineering but I value the opportunity to learn from and work along side engineers of all professions.

Desperate for Help to go to College

My name is Truly Scott. I am 18 years old and about to graduate high-school. I have a twin sister who is also persuing a college education. We go to Mount Vernon Christain School in Stockbridge, Georgia. We are dedicated cheerleaders and students at this school. We are currently working very hard to take a college course in high-school because our grades allow us to get ahead. We decided to take this class because we are afraid we may not be able to pay for it when we get to college and it is currently free at our high-school. We have 7 brothers and sister and two sets of parents. Unfortunately the set of parents we live with will not pay for any means of college education and my father is going to jail because he owes my mother $28,000 in child support. My family is struggling to make ends meet with 3 girls and and my 2-yr. old neice. My sister and I  fell it is our duty to step in and help my family at this crutial time and that means that i do not have to funds to go to college. We would be beyond grateful for any type of help in this area. Thank you for your time and God Bless You.

Aid For Single Mother Looking to go Back to College

I am a single mother who wishes to go back to college full-time to pursue a degree.  I am concerned however because if I go to school full-time I would only be able to work part-time and then only get to spend a few hours a week with my child.  I would like to find out about aid that I might be able to receive so that I might be able to support both my daughter and I and still be able to work on the pursuit of my degree.  I am not very informed when it comes to these programs or on the way to go about appying for them and would like a listing or information on any program that might be available to someone like myself.

I am here because I am a young, smart, dedicated mother of 2 very smart loving kids. I have come to a point in my life where the man that I trusted with our lives just decided to leave us with nothing. It is sad because he controlled everything and could care less about me and our kids well being. I have been a stay at home mother and I do not have any unnecessary bills. All I have is rent, utilities, food, car insurance and very little money for anything else. I want to go back to school to make something of myself but there are other things that stand in my way. I need a job but no one here will take a chance on me because I havent worked and I have no experience. I need money for everyday living and it makes it harder when I want to work and go to school and then I need money for a babysitter that I can trust with my kids. I am just so stressed that I cannot provide the things that I need for my kids. I here all the time about people going into debt and well I dont want to do that to myself or my kids. I want to have some stability for themand myself but it seems like I am getting nowhere and well the money that I still have will not last long. I am not sure what I am asking for I just know that I need help. I want to find a job at home but I cant invest the little money that I have. I have sold alot of my things to make more money and well that in itself makes me sad. I just really need something to help me get by. I would really love it if this site is real and well I am not afraid to talk to someone that is real and not looking to add to the stresses that I have. I am just so afraid that my kids will have to see the harsh realities of. I want to give them a roof over there head but I can only afford a few more months and I really dont know what to do. I just dont want them to feel in secure. I want the simple things in life but no one is willing to give me a chance to prove myself to them. Life is hard but it seems to want to keep me down rather than letting me and my family prosper.

I have a list of things that I "WISH" I could have but then again I am not to lazy to make my wishes come true. I just need some help to be stabel enough to give my kids a home.I live in a small apartment and well to better understand my situation I am pretty much living off of 1500 a month and my rent is more than half that amount. I cant get a deposit for another place and well where I live it is a really reasonable price. My landlord is really nice and understanding but he is also struggling and well with 2 kids and we dont go shopping alot. Me and my kids have all second hand things, we eat canned goods most of the time, and we just spend time together so the good thing is that my kids dont need the fancy things to make them happy. They do want the new things but they know that I cant give it to them because I dont have the money. I would love to give them the nicer things for their birthdays and holidays but I cant sacrifice the money in that way. I am just feel so inadequate at times. I want to give them extra things because they are smart and deserve them but everything is so pricey. We rarely go to mcdonalds and when we go we only get the dollar menu thing and we go where we can get free refills. I mean that is a good thing but to have to explain to my little ones that I cant do more because mommy dont have the resources really makes me depressed. They dont know the things that I have to struggle with and I hope they never know but they see it and ask questions and I have to try and tell them something else that is positive. It becomes torture at times when they see the things that others recieve and how others indulge in the luxuries of life.

ADDED this on May 10,2008

I am really looking forward to making a life with my kids but now I am trying to find some grants that I can apply for so that I can go back to school. I am having a hard time getting a job and finding needed help. I would really love it if people could help me financially but that is a dream in it self. I understand that people dont know if I am real or not but all I can say is that I am and if someone is generous enough to help me out they would be doing a great thing. I would be happy with 5 dollars I mean every little bit helps. I have really changed so much in my life to make a honest life with my kids and it hurts me that I cant give them the things that once had. They understand the situation a little but it still sucks for them because they are so young. I want to give them some security but here in hawaii it is quite difficult. I dont know what can help me but I just really dont want to go in to debt so that is why I am asking for help before we have to suffer more with those things. I am a open person and real as can be. I am not lying and well I hope that a decent person is willing to get to know me and my family enough to see that I am not scamming anyone. I really want grants for schools and I just dont know which ones are legit. But if anyone just wants to help me in monetary things that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading this and I hope that there are generous people out there that would like to help me and my kids in our time of need. I know there are alot out there and i probaly dont have a really hard story but I just dont want my kids to have to suffer a moment of hardships. Please feel free to respond. Thank you again

My mother and I share a house and are full time college students.  Trust me, if it were not for financial aid, we wouldn't be in college at all.  In the last two months, there has not been any work to do at our part time jobs, so we have no income.  We have bills that are coming due and nothing with which to pay them.  Our house needs a new roof as well as minor plumbing and electrical work.  The receptacle for our stove is not usable because it overheats and melts the plug, so right now, we are cooking on a two burner hot plate and using a toaster oven.  Our bathtub faucet leaks water like crazy (from the hot water side), and with nothing to repair it with, we turned off the hot water and now heat water on our two burner hot plate.

We've looked at job listings in the newspaper and online and are trying to find some way to make ends meet.  So far, we haven't found anything that will allow the flexibility our college schedule needs.  If we don't keep our grades up, we lose financing for college.

We know GOD is able and works in mysterious ways ~ often through the hands of Good Samaritans.  If you would like to help a Christian family pay their bills and make repairs to their home, please contact me.  Thank you in advance and may GOD bless you richly.

****** Update 11/26/06 ******

Everything is basically the same.  Still no work, no income, and needing help.  Our employer does not forsee any work for us in the month of December.  I've applied for a job as a night stocker at Lowe's and I've also picked up an application from a local retail store.  I'm going to apply at Wal-Mart as well.  We've checked with our local Community Action Agency about help with our heating, but they don't have any funds available at this time.  I will continue to check with them about assistance.  I'm believing something will come through...I have faith.  I would like to be able to buy a few Christmas gifts, but finances do not allow that at this time.

Someday, I'd love to have enough money to be here offering help to others instead of asking for it.  If I had the money, I'd help everyone I could.  I know there are many who are in worse circumstances...at least I do have a roof over my head, food to eat (through food stamps), and clothes to wear.  Many don't have that...I'd love to be able to help them and many others.  Mark my words...one day I will.

** Update 12/20/06 **

We spoke with our employer a few weeks ago -- still no work and there will not be any more work for us to do with this company.  My mother and I both have applied at Lowes and she has tried to get on a list to take the civil service exam for the post office in our area.  I spoke with a DHR representative to find out who I needed to contact about employment there -- I have to take an exam and be placed in a pool of applicants.  I will be doing this ASAP.  There are a few restaurants in our area that may be hiring.  A new one will have their grand opening in January -- so we will both apply there.

Thank GOD that we are eligible for food stamps and are receiving those...if not, we'd be pretty hungry.  We are so grateful for what we have.

I do ask that even if you cannot afford to help us in a monetary way, please, please remember us in your prayers.

Thanks so much for reading and may GOD bless you.
