I was approached by an aidmate with question about a fraudulent loan offer. This gave me the idea to create an Abuse / Warning page where all aidmates can post their similar experience in order to warn others.

Given the number of aidmates that are talking about financial problems, and the fact that Aidpage is free for everybody, unfortunately, it is unavoidable to have spammers, liars and dishonest people. We are doing as much as we can to keep the system open and at the same moment to identify such parties. The system is performing automatic post-processing for known fraudulent schemes and is deleting the identified accounts. Aidpage is removing some accounts – mostly international Nigerian-like “loan givers”. This is why, once in a while, some of you are receiving email notifications for messages. Then, when you login, there is no message - it was deleted in the meantime by the system. Unfortunately, we are far from 100% successful in this identification process.

So, what should we do? Here are several suggestions I can think of:

1. Use common sense!
   
2. Be careful and communicate through Aidpage only. Nobody needs your email or phone to talk to you. They can do it easily on Aidpage and yet they would not have access to your information (unless you let them).
3. Any legitimate lender or grant giving organization should identify itself publicly. Such institutions cannot be hidden or secret.
4. Whoever claims to represent an organization should be able to post all pertinent information about him/herself and the organization – address, phone, full name, type of business etc – right here on Aidpage. This is a simple advertising for the company and it cannot be a secret. On the other hand, you don’t have to give any information about yourself – their business info is public, your personal info is not!
5. Once you’ve got all the info, go ahead and check them out. Ask aidmates that you can trust for advice. Make sure you know with whom you are dealing.
6. Then, there are individuals willing to help. This is the best thing happening on Aidpage. However, their personal information is as private as yours. They may not want to expose themselves publicly and this is absolutely understandable. Anonymous charity is common.
7. In case someone wants to send you money, they can do it via Paypal. You just need your own Paypal account – it is easy and free. This way, you don’t have to give out any sensitive personal information – like home address, phone, bank accounts, social security number, birth date, etc. You may consider creating a special email for Paypal only.

I do believe good people vastly outnumber the bad guys, anyway.

I never knew about this wonderful site existing. Very soon I will post what I'm having a problem with and pray that I get some type of information that will be very helpful for me. For starters I will say it's in reference to my teeth. I received a root canal years ago and it actually destroyed 2 of my teeth which have enabled me to smile as much as I want. Basically I really don't have the money to get 2 permanent teeth at this time because that's cosmetic surgery. If someone knows any information that will be successful in me getting that perfect smile back again I  will greatly appreciate. God Bless.

Have you ever wondered what would be to find a really nice software product that you want, that is reasonably priced and working flawlessly on your personal computer from the first installation? Sounds good, huh? Imagine now, for a small problem you call the technical support,… suddenly a real, knowledgeable and friendly person answers the phone and within a few minutes everything is back to normal flawless performance… Yeah! You have got me now – I am dreaming.

Well, let us wakeup and take a little different approach, less demanding, perhaps more realistic. Let us say the first two requests are met – the software is nicely designed and built, and you want it. Let us not be way too demanding and let us not start complaining after the fifth unsuccessful installation attempt on two different off the shelf computers built by the two of the leading computer manufacturers. It is not a big deal after all. You can always call a few skilful friends to help, call uncle Harry who is computer wiz working for Dell or IBM and the best part – while they are wrestling with the installation of the software, you can listen to some nice music on the phone while hopelessly waiting somebody from the technical support to answer. Sound’s familiar? I told you that we will get down to earth, didn’t I.

Don’t loose hope. Wait! Somebody will pick up the phone. They always do… eventually. And here it begins – none of the observations on the problem that your small team made is worth anything. Please, let us be patient and listen to the technical support gurus. They know what they are doing when they ask you to restart the computer 2-3 times, unplug all the cables and plug them in again, check the weather outside or check the phase of the moon… and some other important manipulations. You better follow closely the instructions if you want to spear your own time – the tech guru obviously enjoys unlimited time. Who cares for the next sucker on the phone - he is listening to the nice music and should not complain.

Ultimately we are getting to the point where it becomes absolutely clear that you need to buy a piece of new hardware for your computer in order to run this software. Yeah, yeah… I remember that both of the machines that you are playing around with are brand new and the leading manufacturers make them… I know that they meet all the listed system requirements… anyway, I am telling you – you need this hardware. Let us not be shortsighted – why argue – your new computer will become even better after all. The software was reasonably priced. You saved a couple dollars. What is the problem with spending a couple hundred more to achieve two goals at once – working software and a better computer. There is a small obstacle though – your local electronic store does not care such an advanced piece of hardware, but that is for you own good – you can order it via the Internet and save even more money. Smart, huh? Usually, in less than 10-15 days we will be almost ready to try the software again. Call you small army of helpers again to install the hardware for you – they have nothing better to do anyway. Look at their faces when they try to install the software again and get the same nonsense error message – it is fun. If you stupidly forgot to start calling the technical support right at the beginning of these events, now all of you will listen to the boring music for a while.

Naturally, you can’t talk to the same person as before but it is not that bad. The new guy sounds even more knowledgeable and he is attacking the problem from a slightly different angle. He is not even mentioning the word hardware and he is kind of talking for different things. You are under the impression that he has no idea about you case. The truth is that he indeed has no idea about your case. There may or may not be a record of your case, but even if there was a record, why bother reading it, since you are on the phone anyway and you will tell him the story.

This guy begins guiding you to update every single driver in your newly purchased system. Then he is making you close anything and everything that is running on your computer, including the antivirus software and the firewall. The firewall may need only to be setup correctly and to let it be there, but you don’t know how to do it anyway, so don’t complain and shut the darn thing off, please. Once we bring up-to-date every possible thing in our new computer and all the test shows that our machine is really ready to do some computing, the tech guy is instructing you to uninstall the software and to start a new installation again… only to get exactly the same result as before. Then… then there is a pause. The problem is complicated and should be elevated to the next technical support level. Wow… next level! I bet you never thought of such a thing but now while you are listening to the annoying music again you are thinking… you are thinking what support level you might need if the installation actually passes.

In the mean time your helpers are bored to dead, run out of beer and finally decide that they have reached their limits. They are living you on your own.

After good 10 minutes or so the music is interrupted by the voice of the same person that you spent last 45 minutes with. What else did you expect?… only the level has changed. Now the tech-guy is giving you an Internet URL address where you can find and download the latest patch for the software that you purchased a few days ago. The patch is applied flawlessly and… YES!!!… No, no, don’t get me wrong the software is not running yet but the error message is different. It is somehow refreshing, isn’t it? Now the tech-guy makes a really long pause - so long that you are not sure whether he is still on the other end of the line. Since you have nothing else to do but wait, you have enough time to start your second machine with the off the shelf hardware and old drivers, and to apply the software patch. Then suddenly… the software starts running on this computer. Wow! Unbelievable! You proudly announce this fact to the tech-guy perhaps expecting to sense some confusion or maybe to get some explanation about the recommendation to purchase the expensive piece of hardware that you obviously don’t need. Don’t be so naive! All you get is – “Good job! Finally WE did it. What else can I do for you?” Now you got really scared – what if you accidentally ask him about that weak sound that you heard the other day while you were driving your car… better don’t. Just say thank you and be happy. After all you have enough reasons to be happy – The software is running and you made it yourself. You also have a really well updated and upgraded second computer. It is true that you may need to call again your helpers to remedy some of the updates made in order to make it usable but what is the big deal. Forget about this now, and let us concentrate on the running software – we have more fun on the way.

Now since we have running software it is completely new ball game. It doesn’t take long to realize that whoever wrote this software never had any idea that there is other software that you may want to use on your computer. The guys that wrote this piece of software had in mind all the resources that you computer can offer.

My name is Dana.  I am a single young man that has been going through a lot of trials and tribulations throughout my life.  No matter how hard I try seems like it starts off okay, but then gets worse.  In 1996 I was diagnosed with HIV, shortly after my cousin died at the age of 30 of Leukemia, my Choir Director died of kidney failure, and then found out an ex of mine died; all within 2 months.  I was working as a Nurse Assistant at an nearby hospital.  I was hanging out with someone that I had met a couple of weeks before, and ended up in prison for 2 and a half years.

I have had a pretty hard time of things lately.  I am in need of a grant that can help me get my life back on track.  I am wanting to have my own home.  I am 43 years old, and feel like my life is worthless. 

I currently go to church weekly, pray daily, treat others better than I have been treating myself.  I have worked for Charter Communications for the past 2 and a half years.  My credit is so bad from trying to help others.  I have $88,000 debt according to my credit report.  My mother was kind enough to finance my current vehicle for which I wish I could pay off sooner than expected. 

I am looking at a home nearby where I currently live.  It is going for around $370,000.  If someone knows of any help please let me know.

I am just wondering if anyone gets help from this sites. I have since I posted this, a lady sent me 5.65 which I very much apprecitate plus she turned me on to way to make a little cash. I have not worked since January the first of and my car tags are out along with inspection sticker and insurance. I have no money what so ever. My utilities have been turned off for over a month and a half now. I have been takeing showers in the kiddy pool out in the backyard, thanks to the Lord for the rain. I am walking every where I go. I know that I will make it out of this, but things just seem a little muddy right now. I have a lot of inner strength but right now I just can't seem to dig myself out of this. I have been looking for work something that I can do with two disabliities that I have. Somewhere it is close to walk to. I am a single mom struggling so hard just to make ends meet. I receive child support, and pay child support. My older 3 children have a truely dead beat of dad. He is over 35,000 dollars in the arrears of child support. I cannot even get him to pay the one half of the medical bills insurance does not pay for our children. This year has been so stressful and LOTS of medical issues. My 16 year old was diagnosed with ADD last year. My 15 year old had knee surgery in Feb. My son had an appendix scare. He broke his finger at school. And now he is on crutches for breaking his bum bone at soccer on Monday night. He cannot sit. He can only lay down or stand. Their medical bills, even after the crappy insurance I carry, is well over $5,000.00. Their dad cannot even hold a job long enough to have health insurance on our children. I have been employed with the same company for over 12 years. My immediate family has turned there back on us. They have gone so far as to testify in custody hearing. We have not heard anything from them in over 1 year.  This is how I have lost some of my rights to my baby son. He is 6 years old. My 13 year old called the police in 2005 and my2 nd ex husband was arrested and pleaded for domestic violence. I have some car repairs I can not afford to pay. The gas prices right now are outrageous. It almost seems like why work. I have not put the kids in drivers ed. I cannot afford to even pay for them to go. I cannot get on any renters assistance because the county I live in has a private agency that does that and well its a year waiting list. I could not afford an attorney for my last divorce. UPDATE: I took my daughter into the doctor today for a cyst removal on the back of the head. Well things did not turn out like we had expected. The doctor told us that this is actually sometype of growth on the skull. She now has a cat scan scheduled for Friday. So then we can determine what is next.

Negative bank balance. Received a counterfeit check for $4800.00. I used to get my car fixed and now I am in the whole even worse. I have received no other offers for help. can anyone out there help me i desperately need 5000 dollars to catch up some past do bills and pay off several cash advances.  My husband does not knoow about any of this and i cannot tell him for fear that he will leave me and take the boys.  I made a huge mistake in our checkbook and before i was able to catch it the damage was done,  now my only hope is to obtain the money to fix it and catch up.  I would have been able to do this however about three months ago I was let go from my job and it took me nearly two months to find a new job it is a better job with better pay but getting caught up is almost impossible.  please help

I had a stroke recently, the only problem is I lost my voice. Nothing else has happened, no muscle problems.  The big problem is I'm a Customer Serrvice Tech.  And lost all of that.  During what I am trying to say, is part of the Stroke, it tends to make me say something sort of wacky.

The problem I've had is my social Security is not paying much of anything.  I started working after my divorce and in the time I've worked, it wasn't enough time to have my ssd with out paying more then 450 per month. 

I have a car and a couple of credit cards and would like someone to help pay these payments for me...... when ever i will have to get another job I will pay you back. and of course i have a life insurance that I could add you to it.

I would love to help with this as I don't even have a place to live or anything else.

Even if someone could help with using the computer to help earn cash it would be helpfull.

I am desperately looking for either a grant or some sort of scholarship. I am almost 29 and want to go to school to become a Massage Therapist. I have the school picked out and classes start in August. I made some mistakes in my younger days by not finishing college (long story), now I can't get a "student loan."
