I need a loan, I've never had one though. I have great job security and make good money. But these bills are killing me. $5500 would fix every thing, $4600 would fix the dang bills. Does anybody read these anyways...
NEED HELP WITH BILLS

My wife to be doesn't work, and hasn't for a year now. We have a new baby (born 7-6-05). We only owe a total of $4600 between the both of us. I need to get my car running and registered/ insurance. All the bill collectors want all of thir money now. I'm falling behind, trying to juggle bills and get us out of debt. I pay 12 different bills a month. I am a insulin dependent diabetic 25yrs old with no heath insurance. I need a loan or grant to help me get back to normal. Stressed Out over BILLS. Nobody will give me a loan because I haven't had a loan before...well, I've never needed one this bad. I grew up feeling poor, growing up in a broken disfunctional home. I've never been on a vacation, but I won't miss a day of work. I am trying to make a good life for my wife and child, and I'm soooo close to getting it.

I am a disabled vietnam era veteran. About two years ago I suffered two strokes and saw first hand the obstacles that people and families in need go thru when they are struck with an unforeseen incident. The world can turn into a cruel and cold and lonely place. It seems that the only visitors that approach you are people that want to take their pound of flesh. All the collectors come to collect their debts and there is no way of holding them off. Sometimes families are forced to make harsh and rash decisions just in order to survive the tradegy.

I do not want anyone to feel the way that I did when I had my strokes. Dealing with the feeling of complete loss and disarry of your life only compounds itself on your situation. It harms both you and the family around you in so many ways. The emotional, physical and financial strain can become unbearable. Along with the illness and long sleepless nights you are also plagued with the ever approaching feeling of doom. THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO SURVIVE!!!

I was able to first hand experience this and to speak with others that have gone through these incidents also. There are a few basic needs that must be met in order to get through this crisis safely and remain in a stable environment.

Basic needs include but are certainly NOT limited to:

Food / Shelter / Medical Care

Knowing that someone cares and that there are people who can or want to help, makes a big difference in bridging the gap to becoming healthy and viable again.

What I have decided to do and wish to attempt to pass on to people are both the basic needs and the knowledge that there are others that care and sympathize with people in need.

I hope to help bridge the gap between the needs and the needy!

I am starting a non-profit organization to help veterans and their families cope with the difficult and rocky time between receiving either their benfits or their pension. I wish to exted this service also to the homeless in need.

I need help to get this venture started. Any help from you would help out the cause greatly!!!  One of the things that we need too do is purchase wholesale/discount/surplus items to raise  funds for the cause.
We can't do this without you and there are people waiting to be helped. Please help us bridge the gap between the needed and needy.

I want to be an organization that ACTUALLY helps, not just a name that people are turned away from when they are in need.

Keeping my family together

My husband has become severely disabled from diabetic neuropathy. He cannot feel his feet up past his knees, lost a toe and bones in his foot. He has extreme pain in his hands and knees. His balance is terrible and he keeps dropping things (i.e. silverware, glasses, etc.)

He has been told he must have had diabetes most of his life, but did not know it until the incident with his toe. He has high blood pressure and is depressed by the entire situation. He cannot even feel the keys on a telephone or tv remote.

I have had diabetes since I was nine and we have two sons with health issues. With the loss of his income, we are barely making it. I have to fight to keep the house and vehicle. We applied for disability over two years ago and still have not gotten anything. I am looking for resources for aid.

I am so tired. I have had such a horrible life, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I am 34 but I feel like I'm 94. I have been on Social Security Disability. I suffer from Major Depression, General Anxiety Disorder, Diabetes, Hypothyroidism, Anemia, Sleep Apnea, High Cholesterol, Diabetes Retinopathy, Infertility and Advance Periodontal disease. I had a stroke a year ago, the side effects are some stiffness in my thigh and short term memory loss. I've been told I will be completely blind in the next couple of years from the retinopathy. I know that things could be worse. I was told I will not receive additional benefits when it does happen. Social security isn't enough to even cover rent. I have recently gotten divorced and now I am being evicted by my ex husband. My parents are both deceased and I don't have any siblings. I did not know my Mother or her family, Both of my parents died when I was young. The only family members I do have are struggling themselves. I slept in my car three years ago, when I had no place to stay. I've applied for section 8 housing but I've been told since I don't have any children, the wait is three years. I can't afford to live anymore. I don't make enough money to qualify for low income housing. I am so sad and I keep getting the run around from agencies. I really need help. I hope there are some resources available to help me. Please email me if you know of anyone able to help.

Thank you!

My Grandfather whom is 61 has beed diagnosed with diabetes, High blood pressure, Charcots foot, and arthritis. They were finally accepted for medicare a few months ago. My grandfather was finally approved for disability but it wont begin until January. He is currently on unemployment and that will end next week. He gets a little over 300 a week for unemployment. They had to put a mortgage on their home to pay for all the medical bills and medication before they were accepted for medicaid. They pay 600 a month on that plus utilities run around 500 amonth. Including, gas, garbage, electric, phone, and water. The family has been helping them out as much as we can but now we are at the point to where it is not enough anymore. Stress is making us crazy we have to go and see a family counselor whenever we can afford it . churches were helping us but they stopped and my other family members dont have enough money to help us. i couldnt even afford to buy a prom dress my school counselor bought my dress jewelry and paid my 100 dollar prom fees.my dad cant afford his copays on his medicines and mom cant afford to go pick them up. it seems as if every one has turned there backs on us. we really need help, so if you could find it in your hearts to help us in any way possible it would be greatly appreciated.

I am a 49 year old Intersex man with female genital. I am insulin dependent I also have Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis (SPMS).  I can no longer walk I depend on a power chair, as well I am have lost the use of my bladder and 50% of my bowels. I have visual issues as well anything from blurred to eyes that jump. The fatigue that I live with is overwhelming. Sensory issues are as follow; I have a delay in pain, by the time I feel it I could have cut myself or burn myself. To have someone touch me will drive me crazy, my skin feels at time like it is crawling or I have the pins and needle in the hands arms and face.  There are many other things that I face on a daily bases with SPMS some of them I will admit has brought me down to the point I was thinking they would shoot a horse that felt better then this. This past year has been hard for me to deal with however I have never been a quitter. I know that my illness is a progressive one, however I am not ready to stop living and I am now working on creating a new aptitude about life. I am now looking at this life I live as a challenge. I am working on retaking my life back from SPMS. I am learning that it is okay to ask for help, that I do not have to do this alone. I am also learning that asking for help does not make me a weak person. I also know that I have a lot to give to the world on a whole. I can and will be a productive person again. I may not be able to give and do like I use to but I still have a lot to give… It may take me longer to get a task done, however I have all the time in the world. When those day I can not pick myself I can now push a button and get some help and that it does not make me any less of human being. I am learning to use the adaptive equipment with pride not shame.
We look for advices, money and any help. Thanks!

Life is a chain of events, road that leads us though bright peaks and dark valleys. Nobody knows what the next day will bring us.

May be some of you have met Gergana – young and smiling girl. She never complains and doesn’t want to disturb anyone’s happiness with her problems, so just a few people know that she fights Diabetes already for 19 years. Her diagnose is Diabetes Type I. Her childhood passed between screenings, tests and hospitals. How much strength she needed, despite these difficulties, to be able to be one normal child, a girl, that has friends, enjoys their company and loves singing.

For the last 4 years, Gergana lives with her family in Las Vegas, Nevada. Unfortunately, the disease is rare, progresses, leads to complications and is harmful for other organs. For the last 2 years Gergana has had 4 surgeries: 2 cataract surgeries on both eyes and 2 glaucoma surgeries on the left eye, which have not brought the expected results and let to loss of vision with that eye. Constant use of multiple antibiotics and drugs caused severe harm to her kidneys too.

Since August 2007 the situation is critical. Gergana needs dialysis three times per week! The doctors suggest an urgent kidney transplant.

The disease and her condition do not allow Gergana to work or study, and there is no way for her to obtain health insurance and she was refused any financial aid from the government. So far, Gergana’s family is struggling with its own efforts and money to make payments on the numerous bills; to go to work and to spend long hours in the hospitals and doctors offices with their daughter, and at the same time to keep faith and hope! There are clinics that can make the transplant, but the family cannot afford it.

Additional information: Gergana is 26 year old and she has a Green Card - she is legal permanent resident of Nevada, USA.

We - Bulgarian-American Association of Nevada and friends of this family, are trying to find additional information and to collect money to help Gergana. Her family needs information, legal and financial help. Is there any way to find health insurance plan for her.
(Her mother has health insurance, but due to Gergana's age, she cannot be added to the plan. Do you know any other way?)

looking for employment
Cedar Park, tx
Languages: English

My husband died unexpectedly, he did not have life insurance or health insurance, he was never ill. Two months later, I lost my job. The next day, I filed for unemployment and registered with the TWC for help to find a job. I received unemployment until August. I applied for every job that I qualified for in the TWC listings, there were many, I only got a few interviews. I am not sure that the job postings were up to date, so many of them sent me responses that the jobs were closed. Some jobs were posted a day or two before they were to be closed. I have sent out so many cover letters with resumes and applications. I have checked with my references, no one has contacted them. I feel like I've been sending out paper airplanes into empty space.  Many of the applications have gone to State agencies which list job vacancies.

I am diabetic and am out of my medications, I was on the Aim Low program in my county, in August they sent a letter about changes, I called to be rescreened (first screened in May) and was told to call back later, this is what happens each time I call, I am clearly qualified. Initally, in May, I applied to several of the prescription assistance programs and was approved, they were sent to the Aim Low pharmacy. I found out by accident that they had arrived and had been there a month without my being contacted. I finally received them but have received none since and have not been able to see a nurse/dr for refill prescriptions. I don't know where to turn as my diabetes cannot be ignored. I am following what I've been taught in managing my diabetes, but that is not enough without the meds I was prescribed by my doctor while I was still working and had insurance. I have lost alot of weight (40#) and my blood pressure has dropped to a much lower rate than it has been in more than 20 years. I think those factors have helped me with the diabetes complications.

I receive a survivor's benefit from social security, but it is only enough to pay my rent with $34. left over, I am behind on my utilities and must seek help to get reconnected, often. My car engine light blinks constantly and it runs "rough" needs spark plugs changed and maintenance work, so my gas mileage is poor. On the weekends I set up with an art group to sell note cards that I paint, and some jewelry that make with left over supplies from better times while my husband was alive and we were both earning. I sell a little, usually enough to pay my booth fee and gas money and a little extra used for food during the week. My back, arms and hands are beginning to be stiff from the loading and unloading each week. My hands ache for days and swell. I don't have medication for that. Last week my allergy to smoke flared up and I have had nerve pain in my jaw, ear and head that is almost unbearable.

I have a daughter about 20 miles away who ignores me since I asked her to keep my dog, a Lab named Lizzi for 3 days so I could go to help my younger daughter who was having a myelogram to determine therapy for an injury she is still suffering from that was not initally treated properly. She has alot of pain from her injury and is in physical therapy, that is not covered by her insurance. She works, but the therapy is very costly and she does not have money to help me with. My older daughter works and has a partner, who also works, but requires alot of her attention and 3 adopted children.  They do not communicate with me since I asked them to keep Lizzi for those 3 days. They have 2 dogs and 4 cats and a big fenced yard. Several years ago, when they were living in a condo, they dumped Lizzi with us when they didn't have a yard. Lizzi is very well trained and is always on a leash with me. the vet told us she was traumatized and that she should not ever have to stay in a crate, for any length of time. She loves them and is always so happy to be with them and gets along with their dogs and cats. I am sad that my older daughter seems lost to me. I am so alone. I do have kind neighbors, but to have family that is so close, but distant, is sad. I try not to think about my older daughter, hoping that she will call are show up someday. My younger daughter cannot make trips to visit often as her injury makes a 3 hour drive each way, something very painful to do, and not miss work when she gets back.  I need help and suggestions of how to move ahead, I am not old enough to retire at 62. I have alot of energy to give, just not enough money to make ends meet. I guess I really need caring attention, most of all.

I want to Smile again!

I want to smile again....

I am a 47 year old single mom with older children and one 11 yr. old son still at home. I was 14 when my dad kicked me out of my home and have been working ever since till now. It was not easy but I made my way, eventually got married had kids, then divorced. I raised my kids as a single mom working very hard eventually rising to a good management position. Through the years my teeth have been getting worse, even so I had dental coverage I really couldn't afford my part of the cost as other bills like rent, food, my kids where a higher priority. Still I could smile, my situation was a lot better than others and my teeth were ok looking.

Like many Christmas is my favorite time of the year and always brought a smile to my face but Christmas 2005 was the beginning of me loosing my smile for good. My youngest son was diagnosed with Diabetes Type 1 for Christmas and that was only the beginning. My teeth were beginning to get really bad, already missing a few, more were breaking or beginning to rot. With my child's new condition there was even less money, and just like the absence of child support there was no help coming form my ex in dealing with this either. Bad changed to worse 4 months latter as my older son, 20 was admitted to the ICU in critical condition eventually being diagnosed with Diabetes Type 1 also. My work was less than understanding about my children's illness and even so I had been held up as an exemplary employee my work enviroment became very hostile. On the verge of mental exhaustion and physical collapse my doctor held me out of work and listed it as a workmans comp situation. While out on sick lease I was diagnosed with a tumor on my ovary and was operated on. I was wrongfully terminated and won my unemployment case, but the workman's comp case was set aside for lack of evidence and I don't have the funds or resources to hire/pay the attorney I need. Now out of work with even less money no insurance or benefits, left with a few bottom teeth and 1 and 3/4 of my two front teeth so that I am afraid to smile and I feel so insecure all the time that it is very difficult to get a new job. On top of all that I have now been diagnosed with Diabetes myself. I want to work and support my family and self, but it's extremely difficult and depressing with the obstacles I face. I have managed to take care of all the medical situations but my teeth, which are also holding me back from getting a job and allowing me to provide for my son and self. I have been told by dentists I need to have my remaining teeth pulled and get dentures. The rotting teeth and gunk in my mouth may even be the cause or contributing to my medical problems. If I could afford a slightly higher level of dental work, they said they might be able to save two of my bottom eye teeth and give me implants. Unfortunately I know that implants are beyond my wildest dreams. Now I just want to get these rotten teeth out of my mouth and get dentures, but that too is beyond my financial ability. I want to be able to smile at an interview and have people judge me on my skills and abilites, not my bad teeth. I want to be able to work again and take care of my boy. I want to give my son all he deserves and be able to smile back at him. He thinks I'm mad or sad all the time since I never smile.

I need help finding a way to pay for the dental work I need, and to be able to SMILE again!

UPDATE: I found a place that will pull my remaining teeth for $20.00 a tooth, (I still have a lot of broken teeth and roots besides the few full teeth left), but still cannot afford the dentures. So I'm still looking for help, resources, guideance, or any contribution of any kind which will all be greatly appreciated!

I will not insult the intelligence of the thousands of other people out there in this daymarish world by accounting how desperate my plight may be;  my mortgage and home equity is on track and up-to-date and those aforementioned thousands are surely less fortunate than I am (in fact, I have been deemed in remission of my cancer).  I am posting this message in concern of my wife's needed staple of diabetic foods/supplies and am just asking if there is a person who would send 200 dollars for food (the month of AUG only), as meeting my other collateral home living expenses has yielded little to no money for food.  This message is not about me but about her. Trying to help someone who has helped me all of my life and continues to do so!

My mother is a diabetic and thus far has lost her eyesight, had a leg amputated below the knee, is on dialysis becasue of renal failure and has heart problems.  She has gone through so much but continues to fight and is still going.  She is a blessed person and is a inspiration and light to all those who know her.  The problem is my father is out of work becasue he is taking care of my mother.  She recently had her leg amputated so she is still not mobile which is compounded by her not being able to see.  That is why it is imperative for my dad to be at home and he has been a great source of comfort and assistance to her.  The health insurance they were using has declared that my mother is no longer eligible for anymore health benefits for this year (this was not even told to them until they received a bill with a huge amount!)  The insurance carrier did not have the decency to let them know so that they could make some kind of arrangements.  A person can continually pay these insurance companies and then when they are really needed this is what can happen.  I can go on and on about this becasue it breaks my heart that such good people are just having such a hard time and it seems they can't get over one hurdle without another being placed.  The bottom line is my parents have thus far received a bill for over $200,000 in medical expenses.  With the threat of losing their home my mother has suggested she stop going to dialysis to ease the cost.  She feels like a burden and anyone in her position would feel the same way but I keep telling her to hold on and think positive.  I am not in a great financial position so I am trying to find ways in which I can help them and bring a "ray of sunshine".  I ask if anyone can offer assitance it would be greatly, grealty appreciated.  I am running out of choices.  They have applied for medicaid but to date nothing has transpired except enormous medical bills. She can't even go to the doctor now becasue they don't have the money/insurance.  I have even thought about writing Oprah but I guess my odds are the same as if I were to play powerball.  Sorry for the long post but this is my mom I'm talking about.  Again any help you can give would be a prayer answered.

Hi, I am nervous about doing this but my need for self preservationis my driving force. I am a 43 year old single mother of 2 boys both of them we adopted as infants. I have been a registered nurse for the past 22 years. I was diagnosed with diabetes when I was 20. 4 years ago I got a divorce and have been struggling on my own as a single parent  just like thousands of others do. It was tough but we were managing. 2 years ago I began having severe back pain which proved to be bulging discs. On the first day of my treatment of cortisone shots I returned home from the hospital to find the home I was renting was on fire....I lost everything including my little dog.. Thank GOD none of us were at home.  Unfortunately I did not have rental insurance , so I was in a real mess. As I was recovering from all this I started blacking out ...my mother looked at me one day and saw death warmed over..my legs were blue from the knees down and my blood pressure was 50/40 ...too low. I landed in the ICU for a few days. This year I got myself healthier and together and bought my own little house...not much furniture but a home for my sons. Late summer I started seeing  black spots in my eyes......my retinas had begun to bleed. I needed a different car since mine was old and dying and I was a visiting nurse and needed reliable transportation so I financed a car. I was getting regular laser surgeries to my eyes and my vision got worse and worse. In Oct. my fulltime employer let me go...I couldn't keep up with the computer work...we used very small laptops and I just couldn't see. I still have my parttime position with a local Hospice but that isn't enough to live on. I am now legally blind in one eye and poor vision in the other. Laser treatments are not helping and I am getting injections into my eyeballs.  went to disability and they wont help me until I gross  {before taxes} less than 900.00 a month then it will take them 3-5 months to make a decision...we will be in the streets by then. I also have severe peripheral neuropathy in my legs and feet as well as fibromyalgia...so I am in alot of pain most of the day and night. Is there anyone out there that can help me? I am uninsured and can't even afford to refill my prescritions  right now...I am waiting for public aid to decide if they'll help me.  I am trying to find another nursing job that I can handle with these physical limitations...it's not easy , there is usually alot of running around, lifting and tons of paper work & computer work to do. I dont want to lose my home...my kids need  a home. Every day I pray to not lose my eyesight completely ....I wouldn't be able to bear not seeing my sons faces anymore and I pray for an answer...a way to find help financially. If there is anyone out there who can help me ....GOD bless you. PO box 482 Tiskilwa Il  61368

I am a 34 year old, single mother with a 20 month old son. Things have been very difficult of late. For 13 years I have been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis among multiple other medical problems, including a Protein C Deficiency which causes a clotting disorder. I have had 15 life threatening blood clots in my lungs in the last 8 years, the most recent being in my Pulmonary Artery. Now I find out that instead of MS I may actually have a primary muscle disorder like Muscular Dystrophy. Due to the clotting disorder, a liver disorder and a blood infection I have to spend 20 hours a week at my local hospital getting multiple types of IV therapy. I had an old laptop that I found at a Salvation Army 5 years ago and up until two nights ago that I used during that time to help the hours pass. However, it no longer works as my son accidentally put it in the toilet. He has this crazy infatuation with the toilet, yet is petrified of the bath tub, imagine that :) Anyways I hate to ask anyone for anything however with both my fiance'(he is a physics professor who is trying to get his bipolar disorder better controlled) and I (I used to work in the medical field and on an ambulance) being on disability it is almost impossible to go out to dinner once a month, let alone save for a wedding and now a laptop. I am not sure what this site can do for me, I hope at the very least I will make a few friends who understand what I am going through. I will leave it in the hands of the angels as to what type of help/support you feel you can best offer. I am hoping I can use this venue as a two way street, maybe I can provide support to someone else in need, even if its just kind words, encouragement, referrals, or information.

I am married to a disabled Marine.  He is 44 years old and has limb-girdle muscular dystophy.  Thankfully his disease has been progressing slowly and he was able to work as a self-employed carpet installer up until Sept 07.  We immediately applied to have his disability rating increased, but learned today that it will be another 3-6months.  We have 2 children at home, a daughter 17 (diabetic), and a son 18.  I lost my job making pretty good money in May 06 due to the company being sold.  I was unable to find another job so I am currently a full time student at the local community college which is paid for through Job Training.

We have been unable to pay a power bill all winter and are quickly sinking having lost the income of 2 jobs in 2 years.  We were going through a bankruptcy when my husband became disabled and our attorney filed for a moretorium on our behalf which has so far saved our home.  We qualify for $230/month food stamps, but that lasts about 2 and a half weeks.

Our families have helped as much as they can, but they can't afford to help for another 3-6 months.

I have been searching for organizations, but most of them are focused on the Iraq veterans, or active duty personnel.   If anyone knows of any groups that can offer assistance, we would appreciate it!

Hi, my name is Shelly.  I have tried to get my insurance co. to approve gastric bypass surgery for me and they will not do it.  I have diabetes, high blood pressure, hyperlipidemia, asthma, sleep apnea, ocular hypertension and they will still not approve the surgery.  I weigh 390lbs and am 5'6".  I take medications for all my health problems and sleep with a c-pap machine.  I have been morbily obese for 17 years now and have tried every diet on this earth.  I may loose a little weight and then I end up gaining all of it back.  I have been a single mother for 16 years and because of my weight, I have lost out on a lot of special times with my son.  I can't walk very far or do any activity that requires a lot of energy.  I'm so sick of my self.  I don't feel I'm going to live very many more years if I don't get this weight off.  I have worked all my life and put my self through college after my divorce, and received a 2 year medical assistant degree.  Medical Assistant's do not make as much money as you would think they would.  I have struggled year after year to make things meet.  My son has had three surgerys on his legs at the Shriner's Hospital in St.Louis, thank God for them.  He is still having pain in his legs and ankles and he will probably need surgery again on his feet.  It has all been so very stressfull on him and me.  I get depressed about my weight and over eat and it just goes on in a never ending cycle.  I feel almost like I've wasted all my years in obesity.  I don't want to waste the rest of my life.  I pray some times that I will win the lotery so I could get my surgery and help other people too, this is just dreaming and wishful thinking though, it's not reality.  I'm not some one who will beg for money, but does anyone have any suggestions out there.  I'm loosing hope.
