It's been a while since I have visited here.  The site has changed a lot and its hard finding out how to view the most recently posted comments.  But as soon as I figure it out I will try to provide some answers.

If you think that there are no grant programs out there for individuals then you are sadly mistaken.  I have found grant programs for the individual for some time now.  It does involve some work though.  You have to do your research well and weed through a lot of information.

Doctors and other medical professionals (including nurses and dentists) can now apply for grant incentives if they agree to practice in New Orleans to help deal with the medical needs of the people there.  Not only is this good news for medical professionals but it is also good news to the people who are still trying to stay in New Orleans but are having a hard time getting medical care because of their inability to pay and long waiting lists.  You can read more about this program by going to my Grants Blog.

There are also organizations out there that provide emergency financial aid for things such as a high car repair bill, car note/payment and helping those that are disabled.  For example one woman was able to get badly needed dental work that cost $700 which was paid for by the organization.

Many people are unaware of their  Rehabilitation services in their own home town. The ones that do know about it think it’s only for helping handicapped citizens. Wrong. They are in a position to help with free surgery, dental work and much, much more.

If you are employed, but a health problem may prevent you from continuing to work, your local  center can help. Especially convenient for those who need a major operation, but have no insurance,  This center will pay for the doctors’ visits, medication, actual surgery, recuperative equipment and physical therapy, as well as major dental work, too.

Had dental problems for years? Discolored, broken or missing teeth keeping you from a promotion you deserve? Are your dental problems causing you pain? Speak to someone at your local center. They’ll help you find a dentist in your area that can fix your dental problems and get you back to work in no time.

The goal is to help those with handicaps find and keep work. Even if your handicap is temporary, such as a bum hip, they’ll help you get fixed up and back to work. They also offer vocational counseling, job matching, custom training, assistive technology and independent living help. You must be able to prove that you cannot afford the surgery yourself, and that your income is too low to pay for the treatments.

You don’t have to already be unemployed to receive assistance like surgery or dental work. You just need to have been told by a doctor that you require the particular surgery or dental work. Although they cannot just fill and cap teeth for individuals who need this type of work, they can help you get major dental work done if it is preventing you from going to work because of pain. They can also assist you with dental work if it’s keeping you from being able to work in a field in which you’re qualified, but overlooked, because of your dental appearance

You may be eligible for temporary assistance which is available for needy families from a federal program that will provide a monthly cash grant and medical care to families with children who have experienced a sudden drop in income due to the loss of a spouse or job. The amount of the monthly grant depends on the number of people in your family and any income or savings you have. Contact your local social agency.

There is so much mis-information about grants!  Yes there are grants out there BUT there is no one place that you can apply for them.  Each organization whether it be the government, foundations or even big businesses and corporations each have their own individual criteria as far as to what you will need to apply.  Some financial funding programs start their application process with a simple letter of intent and yet others require specialized and quite a bit of information in order for your application to be considered.  The rest of the programs fall somewhere in-between.  There have been grant programs where farmers (or even those that weren't farmers but had the ability to) have received monthly checks to grow weed!  In another case a man got so much grant money that he gave some of it back!  He said it was too much.  In another country a witch got a grant (yes, a Witch!) to start her own business selling potions and other related services!  So yes there are grants out there!

I need assistance paying bills off like utilities and old apartment so that I can get my own place of living again. I am married and my husband has 3 payday loans that we have to keep paying off and imediately taking back out because we cant afford anything any other way. We can't afford daycare and have noone around to help us so I am unemployed. That is also because I didnt realize it while i was doing it but I do not have a strong work history. I want to go to cosmatology school so I can get a decent job and hope to advance to open my own business. I just know I can't even afford to keep food in the cabinets or milk in the refrigerator for our 2 yr old daughter and it hurts me very much to know that.

I have a bad back which has so far required two surgeries. I have a wife, two children and a third on the way. I have not been able to work since Jan of 2000 and am on a very limited budget. Scholarships are FREE

Most people going to college get one scholarship and then apply for a student loan to cover the rest of their educational expensis.   This is OK, but student loans have to be paid back.  They cannot be forgiven even with Bankruptcy.  The only way out of a student loan is by dying or becoming so disabled that you can not work.

But there is no need to get a student loan.  You can get as many scholarships as you want to pay for your schooling.  There is no limit on how many you can have.  And you can get grants to pay for all the rest.  All it takes is a little effort on your part to hunt down and apply for these scholarships and grants.

I would please like some assistance paying my bills and debt.  Currently I am a stay at home mom.  I watch other peoples children to make ends meet.  My husband is an automotive technichian, and we are trying to get him a custom auto body shop open.  So we would also like information and financial assistance in opening a small bussiness.  I would also like help making some home improvements to the home that my husband and I are renting to own.  We will need a new roof soon, and we would like to add on to our house as our family grows and our needs change.   I was also interested in writing a book, so I am asking for financial assistance to be able to stay home and write it, and to be able to buy the supplies needed.  We live paycheck to paycheck right now and often times we cannot make ends meet.  So any assistance or information would be greatly appreciated.

I work 2 full time jobs currently. I got started doing grantwriting work when I was looking for resources to help my mother and other family members. I was quite surprised at the number of programs that were available - some of them requiring no more than filling out a few forms. As I started to work from home other people starting asking me about how they could work from home and that began my consulting business. There were lots of "stories" about grants so I decided to find out for myself what the truth was and the truth was (and still is) that there are grant programs out there for just about any endeavor whether it be for-profit or non-profit! I have gotten many individual grants for others so I know that the programs are out there. So then one day someone called me a scam and that let me know right there that I had chosen the right career! People want the information but they don't want to take the time and effort to find it and that is just what they are going to have to do if they want to apply for these grant programs. I really couldn't be objective on the courses because I took my own route as far as the grantwriting is concerned. Nothing is more better than actual experience and actual results. Every individual has a different story/circumstance and truly you will have to decide for yourself.

I'm not seeking aid for myself.

I take care of a wonderful person who is in need of a better quality of life.

For three years she has been at home with no reliable way to get out and about like other people do.

She does have an older power wheelchair. However, she can't go very far in it.

We have a system here called Para Transit which is a great company and I commend their efforts to help differently abled people get to and from appointments.

The thing is it doesn't work for my client. It's the wait time between travels that gives chance to serious complications to her health.

Her medical insurance only covers doctor visits through them. If she wanted to stop to look at flowers or sit on a park bench for a moment she couldn't. As I have to travel with her, a cooler full of supplies and other necessities are out of the question.

What we need is a wheelchair accessible van.

If you have one that you are willing to donate or know of anyone else that can give her one it would be a ten fold blessing. If you have any idea of whom to write or know how to write a grant for one, your help will be greatly appreciated. If you can donate money for one or know of any philanthropist who can and is willing please contact me as soon as possible.

I don't have a 501 c 3 or an umbrella and the places that I have written (which has been several) have told me that they don't donate to individuals or they have recommended places that don't. I have called and written to foundations and others that have cause in her diagnosis' to no avail.

If you have it to give please give to a very deserving lady who's greatest desire is to enjoy each and every moment.

  I am a Single Mother of four children, ages 23,18,8,& 4 yrs old; I am pleading for a little help so we may relocate into at least a three bedroom house. We live on a very busy street in a duplex without a backyard. To have a house where the lil'tikes could have neighbors to play with would be a dream for them. Not to mention the fact that the children have considerably grown us out of our home here. I currently rent where I have lived in our present location for over 11 years; so to relocate now will not be too difficult but definitely necessary. I have checked with all the local agencies around here for financial assistance to help me in this relocation. But, had no luck do to the fact we are indeed blessed not to be homeless. I have checked into the cost, and it will cost us a substantial amount of about $3,200.00 to relocate my family at the bare minimum. We would be extremely grateful for any help we could get to gather the funds it will take for such a move. I have managed to set aside so far $250. Trying to pay for graduation and save while also seeing to the needs of the children is in it’s self a very difficult task. If some one would consider even helping us out with a loan, I would be willing to work that out if posible as well.

I am a 28yr single mother of a 3yr old son. I am a volunteer and paid EMT-B and wish to advance in becoming a Paramedic. But because of school costs, I am unable to afford to go. I need help please.

I am writing this in regards to financial assistance that I need to pay off old debts, medical bills, and bad checks, with a grand total of approximately $14,000 and growing.  I understand that I have not been "responsible" with my previous finances.  I am working towards relieving these debts.  I am so far behind that no matter what I seem to do I can not get ahead.  I make $6.25/hour and work 35-40 hours per week.  With current interest and fees being added to these debts everyday, I am not able to get ahead.  I am trying to get my finances in order to become a student, and work towards a degree in business management.  I have the will and passion to work for the better, I have no where else to turn for help.  I tried other options to try and help relieve these debts, but with my current credit score I am do not qualify for anything other than "secured" loans.  I have no possessions of real value to secure what most lenders and banks need.  Please help with any assistance possible, for it is in great need.

Hello!  I am a single mother of  three children.  I have to go back to school and get a degree to be able to make a good life for me and my children.  I am trying to get as much financial assistance as I can so that I am able to go to school full-time but not have to work full-time.  That way I still have lots of time to spend with my children.

I am in need of some financial assistance for my family. We have 3 children, we moved to Centreville from Dale City in order for our kids to go to better schools and live in a safer neighborhood. Even thought it was $225 more than we were paying before for rent. Within 2 weeks of moving in my husband's job cut out all overtime, knocking out about $1000 a month. I worked at night waitressing, but I lost my drivers licence because I didnt pay a speeding ticket, so I had to stop working there, the drive was too far to risk. I was getting childsupport for my oldest daughter, however her father was in a major car accident and is now unable to work. So I got another job during the day at $15000 less than usual since I have been out of the work force to raise the kids for the last 2 years. Now, I am paid less and I have to pay child care. We have used all of our family resources. Our electric and water were just cut off and our familys paid for them to be turned back on. Now we have a $650 gas bill we cant pay. My car is getting ready to be repoed. I can't just turn it in, we need reliable transportation. My husbands car only has 1 working seatbelt.

Christmas is pretty much shot.We really need some help until we get back on our feet.

If there is any way you can provide financial assistance or womans business attire (size 20) so I can get a real office job (I have also gained almost 100 pounds with all the stress). We have three daughters ages 4, 7, and 12. They were sizes: 5t-6t, 7-8, and 12-14. They do have school coats but not many pants.

Since my son got killed in an automobile accident last august, I guess that I kinda just shut down.  I guess that what I am trying to do now is to find myself again and to live independantly.  I've always been told that I should check into minority loans/grants based on the indian that I have in me.   So here I am.  This is a start.

I am currently a 23yr old woman completing the last portion of a medical assistant degree program, I will begin my externship any day. I have a 3 1/2 yr old son and am 5mon pregnant. My husband is also a full time student and the current provider for our household. He works fulltime and makes approx. $1100.00 a month. A month ago, my husband was laid off from his job so we fell behind on everything, we were just served a 72hhour eviction notice and have no means of paying the amount due. My husband has obtained another job but getting caught up is nearly impossible. We are just looking for any kind of help, we are trying so hard to make it. 

I am wanting to go to nursing school but I cant unless I can find a program that will help me with living expenses while going to school.  Nursing school is a fulltime commitment and I would not be able to work . I am a divorced single mother of 3 children.

I want to open a carehome for persons with severe and profound disabilities.  I live in a very small community that has no such resource and desperatley needs this service.  The nearest care home in the state is over 90 miles away, which means most individuals that need this service must relocate away from their families.  I have over 10 years experience working with the disabled population and have a passion and determination to help people in this capacity. 

I need funding in the form of donations or grants to help purchase a house with 4+ bedrooms, 2+ baths.  This is assuming each bedroom will be shared between 2 clients, with 1 room for a live in staff.  I don't know where to start on this mission.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

 HELLO,My name is RICHARD SMITH,I live in Norman,Oklahoma with my daughter at this time i have became disable due to circulation problems in both my legs.Social Security has been applied for in limbo at this time have basically no health insurance,cannot work,only assistance available to me is food stamps.looking for a grant to help me with my medical needs,financial responsibilties(child support for my son,normal living expenses). any savings i had is exhausted.Have doctor appointments next two weeks in Oklahoma city with a specialist who is running test on my legs and looking at possible surgery.They have been notified that i have no means to pay for this at this time but they are working with me.I have talked to my DHS worker PAUL BOGGS.He has tried to help ,as much as possible but with my son not living with me and my disability not approved yet by social security.There is nothing more he can do.I have also applied for housing assistance but again waiting on my disability approval from ssa.There is supposely no assistance thru the state of oklahoma for single men without kids in the home who have became disabled i have tried thru DHS.Hoping for some type of help from SSA between now and October 2005
