This website and online community is geared for women who find themselves alone during pregnancy and after the birth of their child. Whether it's by choice or by circumstances beyond our control, ( a loss of a partner due to breakups, death or separated by distance) we all have one thing in common- we are single and pregnant or single mothers, and looking for information and support on bringing up healthy, well-adjusted children.

We have single moms, single dads and older children of single parents. We are about making it work together, though alone in our homes, with little social lives we have found each other. We are a family amoungst ourselves.

ON RAISING YOUNG MEN
DO YOU HAVE A YOUNG MAN IN YOUR HOME ?
THIS IS AN IMPORTANT SITE FOR YOU TO KNOW ABOUT.
"CSR is an outgrowth of D.C. Men Against Rape,
founded in 1987 by a handful of men seeking to raise their own and the community's consciousness about men's violence against women. In 1997, MCSR incorporated as a nonprofit organization with the goal of carrying forward and expanding on its original mission to increase men's involvement in efforts to end men's violence.
Now, we are a concerned community of men and women of all ages, from many walks of life, working locally, nationally, and internationally for peace, equity and gender justice. We are men and women who find strength in compassion and nonviolence and who strive to support young men who are courageous enough to challenge the "rape culture" in which we live.
We do not believe men's violence is inevitable.
We believe that rape, battering, and other forms of men's violence are learned behaviors, choices that men make to exert power and control over others that are reinforced by a society that defines manhood through domination.
We believe that men can unlearn these damaging lessons and live peacefully with women and other men. To do so, however, we must redefine what it means to be a man. "-SITE QUOTE

4 MOMS AT HOME DOT COM
This link kind of fits under the stay at home mom category.
When I first was separated, and then divorced from my ex , I homeschooled my daughter ,and worked. I was blessed to find three different jobs that I could work at and bring my daughter. She was safe , and supervised , but she is a very self motivated and smart kid ,(not my doing , God gave it to her ,and I just worked with it ) and it just worked for us.
My daughter is now in her second year of college on full academic scholarship.
I am not saying homeschooling is right for, or even feasable for everyone , but it worked for us. So , here is a page for single moms who want to home school their kids. :
SINGLE MOMS WHO HOMESCHOOL
Here's an international moms club specifically for stay at home moms :
Goals:
"To provide a support group for mothers who choose to stay at home to raise their children
To provide a forum for topics of interest to mothers
To help children in the community
To perform at least one service project yearly helping needy children
Principles:
That women must be free to choose their personal path to fulfillment
That, for women who choose it, raising children is an important and fulfilling full-time job
That a family's decision for a mother to stay at home to raise the children often involves considerable financial sacrifice
That there is no one right way to raise children, but our members have a common concern in raising their children in a healthful way "

Talking with Kids About Tough Issues
Raising a child is probably the most gratifying job any of us will ever have -- and one of the toughest. We live in an increasingly complex world that challenges us every day with a wide range of disturbing issues that are difficult for children to understand and for adults to explain. We believe this Web site can help by offering practical, concrete tips and techniques for talking easily and openly with young children ages 8 to 12 about some very tough issues: sex, HIV/AIDS, violence, drugs and alcohol.
TALKING WITH KIDS ABOUT TOUGH ISSUES.
NEW! Talking With Kids About Tough Issues has teamed up for a third year with NBC's award-winning The More You Know campaign in a national initiative to support parent-child communication. This season, The More You Know features top stars from "Scrubs", "Law and Order: SVU" and "The Apprentice" offering tips on effective communication. The PSAs are tagged with the Talking With Kids hotline 1-800-CHILD-44, where parents can request free informational materials by mail.

PARENTS TAKE ACTION FOR CHILDREN
A Movement for Families
"Groups as disparate as gun owners, truck drivers and the elderly all have major national organizations that speak for them in Congress and in state legislatures. But what about parents? Who fights for them and their children?
Parents have primary responsibility for raising their children. But they can't do it alone. Most parents now hold down at least one job and cope with long working hours, inadequate or expensive child care options, and no paid parental leave. Many have health insurance that doesn't meet their family's needs. Some have no insurance at all. Too often, however, parents feel their problems are personal and unique. As a result, America's 65 million parents have yet to realize their collective might.
Parents' Action for Children provides America's moms and dads with a platform for making their voices heard. We fight to ensure that all children have access to excellent health care and that our schools and communities promote good nutrition and physically active lifestyles. We believe that quality, affordable early childhood education and after-school programs should be available across the country. We insist that parents have a voice in combating negative messages that pervade our kids' media-saturated world. And we feel that workplace and economic policies should support strong families and healthy children
We know parents don't have a lot of extra time on their hands, so we make advocacy easy. With a few quick clicks you can join our movement and register for a free e-mail newsletter of parenting tips and advocacy information, write letters to legislators and sign petitions on issues ranging from junk food in schools to health insurance for all children.

Has information about ALL aspects of parenting , including safety.
"No one's born knowing how to parent. It's okay to ask for help -- and it's smart.
But there's an overload of information out there, and sometimes you have to kiss a lot of toads before you find the prince. Our goal is to help you skip the toads.
We want you to have the most professional and accurate links (with the most up-to-date and comprehensive information) so that you don't have to slog through the Internet yourself. In the process, hopefully we're helping your child -- and the other children of the world -- be healthier and safer. "
