and myself are just a few. We have taken the time to compile a TON of resources to help others.
We have all been in the same shoes at one time or another - some of us still are. By working together and helping eachother, we can make it through.
We will try to address your posts individually, if we can. However, due to the enormity of the site, the numerous requests, and the vast number of resources available - not to mention the scammers who post - it can be difficult at times. Please be patient. Please check previous posts and pre-existing pages for information.
We are not perfect, we make mistakes. We have bad days - just like you. We have bills to pay, familes to care for, illnesses to deal with, and other burdens just like you. BUT just like you, we have a desire to make our lives, and the lives of those we meet, better in some small way. We may send a prayer, a cyber hug, information, links, advice, or even maybe some construcive criticism, if necessary. We do what we do, because we need to, in our own way. If we are lucky, we get to see people move on because they have found the help they needed and do not need to be here anymore. The creators of AIDPAGE have given us, all of us, a great opportunity to reach out and help one another. Please, make the most of your time here: to share, to hope, to dream of a better life; then go out and make it happen!
Please tell me about broken links and ANY other errors on my pages! Thank you!

HOUSING
HUD/SECTION 8/Govt subsidized housing Section 8 housing usually has a long list because the subsidy is attached to the person, not the property. This means that regardless of where the person lives, they still get the subsidy. In NY the waiting list is 8-10 years. ****If at anytime, you are denied accessibility to applying for any program, you should contact your local city, county, or state leaders and have them intervene on your behalf. - THIS APPLIES TO ANYONE WHO IS DENIED ASSISTANCE.
HOWEVER, there is another alternative. Subsidized housing where the subsidy stays with the property rather than with the renter. You would still pay the same amount of rent - it is based on your income - but you would have to move into a government subsidized property.
In most cases, these are handicapped accessible, family oriented, all the maintenance is included - among other things.
I am including the link for HUD below - just click on the proper state and take it from there. You will need a minimal security deposit - which you can possibly get paid by social services or another charitable organization.
Regardless of how long the list is you should still be able to be put on the list. Contributed links:

* Some of the listings we have do charge very little fee.
* Some places they ask you for small donation. We still list them Free Medical clinicss/Clinics as they are almost free.
There is one listing which ask for $20.00 per visit. We considered listing them, we made a note in the listing that they charge. As long as we see a motive towards helping people who are in need of medical help we consider them Free Clinics (We agree that we are going away from "Free") but we know their effort is worth lot more to lots of people.
* Some are for low income people, some are for homeless
* Some only serve the local community residents.
* Some Clinics are specific to HIV treatment etc. (We list them as well)
We provide personal financial guidance to members of the public who cannot afford a financial advisor, or who are facing an immediate or unusual financial need.

The EFSP National Board does not provide direct client assistance. Direct assistance is provided through a variety of resources, which may include EFSP funding in your community. If you are in search of assistance for yourself or someone you know, you should look in the community services section of your local telephone directory. You should find these pages in the front of your directory and should look for listings for American Red Cross, Catholic Charities or Catholic Social Services, The Salvation Army, United Way Information and Referral, or other non-profit service providers. You may also click on Funded Organizations, here or on the EFSP homepage, to find organizations funded through EFSP in your community who may be able to assist or refer you to the appropriate assistance.

I like to do volunteer work and help with children that lack basic needs. I love children, but have none of my own. I have helped out several single parent familes around the holidays for the past few years. I've found that some families need ongoing help all year and not just at the holiday season. I have been a public school employee for 22 years, and serve on a local church board. I prefer to help someone directly without going through an organization. I've done volunteer work before for organizations and was surprised at how much of the donated funding was spent on administrative expenses, and how little went to the recipients. I really like the concept of Aidpage.
I'm 28, and a single mom with a wonderful 3 yr old. I just found out I'm now pregnant, and to top it off was laid off in 2007, and have been working here and there. I'm desperately trying to get my son and I in our own place, as I currently live with his father. His father is an alcoholic, has drug problems and is just an overall verbally abusive and horrible guy.
I've gone to all the resources and just patiently waiting for a call back on some housing, but I'm really starting to get nervous. I will basically be homeless by the end of the month, and I literally have a buck to my name. I signed up to go back to school to better my situation for my kids, (get a degree so I can make better money), but its tough. I just don't know what to do. Basically all I need right now is a place to live, as I cannot afford much. I also live in the worst town as its terribly expensive but there is no way i can move. The little support that my family gives me (they are in town too) is better than the zero I would have if I lived somewhere cheaper.
Basically if anyone knows where I can find a place to live, cheap or where I could get assistance in paying rent would appreciate it!
UPDATE::
Thanks to all who have offered support.. I finally found myself a place to stay, its not a permnant situation, but at least my children will have a safe place to stay, and I can focus on the future, and not be so stressed out. I am still trying to figure out the whole plan, working, school and how I am going to raise my children without shoving them into daycare all day long.
If anyone is a single mom of 2 kids and has any advise on how to raise your kids (and not dump them off at a daycare all the time) and still be able to support them let me know!! I really believe the best care is that of mom, but I have to be realistic that I have to support myself and be able to care for my kids financially too.

I am a disabled vietnam era veteran. About two years ago I suffered two strokes and saw first hand the obstacles that people and families in need go thru when they are struck with an unforeseen incident. The world can turn into a cruel and cold and lonely place. It seems that the only visitors that approach you are people that want to take their pound of flesh. All the collectors come to collect their debts and there is no way of holding them off. Sometimes families are forced to make harsh and rash decisions just in order to survive the tradegy.
I do not want anyone to feel the way that I did when I had my strokes. Dealing with the feeling of complete loss and disarry of your life only compounds itself on your situation. It harms both you and the family around you in so many ways. The emotional, physical and financial strain can become unbearable. Along with the illness and long sleepless nights you are also plagued with the ever approaching feeling of doom. THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO SURVIVE!!!
I was able to first hand experience this and to speak with others that have gone through these incidents also. There are a few basic needs that must be met in order to get through this crisis safely and remain in a stable environment.
Basic needs include but are certainly NOT limited to:
Food / Shelter / Medical Care
Knowing that someone cares and that there are people who can or want to help, makes a big difference in bridging the gap to becoming healthy and viable again.
What I have decided to do and wish to attempt to pass on to people are both the basic needs and the knowledge that there are others that care and sympathize with people in need.
I hope to help bridge the gap between the needs and the needy!
I am starting a non-profit organization to help veterans and their families cope with the difficult and rocky time between receiving either their benfits or their pension. I wish to exted this service also to the homeless in need.
I need help to get this venture started. Any help from you would help out the cause greatly!!! One of the things that we need too do is purchase wholesale/discount/surplus items to raise funds for the cause. We can't do this without you and there are people waiting to be helped. Please help us bridge the gap between the needed and needy.
I want to be an organization that ACTUALLY helps, not just a name that people are turned away from when they are in need.

i'm not gonna lie... i need some help. but i don't intend to be like this forever. i very responsible, and very giving, i just had a set-back (robbery). there were times where i felt like giving up, but i survived it, and although i'm not out of the dark yet, i feel i've passed the hardest part.
i'm still living paycheck to paycheck (which is bad, cause there is no paycheck coming this month... it's off season for me), but at least i have an apartment. no bed yet... but i don't care. sleeping on a pile of blankets is the most comfy thing in the world after going 7 months of being afraid to sleep at all out of fear because you were in an unsafe place.
i want to let people know: if you have a place to live, nothing can be that bad. so you can't afford to buy your spouse a gift... make them one. so your car breaks down... ride a bike, take the bus, carpool. so you're stuck eating raumen noodles... get creative inventing soups! all i'm saying is nothing NOTHING can compair to the feeling of safty. it took me a long time to realize this... and losing everything i had. now... i don't have anything exciting (no tv, no stereo, no fancy clothes, no jewelry, no bed, no car) but i am so happy to have a place where i can lock the door. where i know i'm safe. don't worry so much about what you put in it... just keep your family and yourself safe.

Dear God
Please help me reach someone, anyone with the ability and desire to help me ... I swear I'm a hard worker ... I am diligently searching daily for work ... I'm just not hitting the right spots, I guess ... I know, through my Faith, that it will work out and I may not understand the hows or whys ... I want desparately to avoid being on the street ... My children and I are trying for a simple life ... I know You will not leave me ... I'm just getting afraid ... I've been served with a ten day notice to cure (eviction) ... have the skills for managing an office, bookkeeping and all the ins and outs ... If I can land a job, ANY job maybe that will allow my landlord to give me some time to catch up ... Dear God ... I know it's out there ... Please, Please ... Show me where ... In the Name of Jesus Christ, I Pray ... Amen
in december i heard about aidpage.com. i was living with my brother at the time ( 19 and 18 years old), but because of winter both our hours at our jobs were cut in half. we were making it but barely. so i decided to nievely post my situation on aidpage. a few days later i was contacted by a pastor who never got back to me, and a man named Sean Yanti. he explained his backround and hard life growing up, and he said he had been through what i was going through now, but now God has blessed him and he would like to bless others. he sent me a check for $4000, but i was to take $500 for myself, and wire the rest through western union to another "very needy" person. seeing as he was not asking me to send my money but his, i thought nothing was wrong, so i did. i cashed the check through my bank and sent the $3500 off. he then told me he was sending another check to help me, but he wanted me to take out a small amount and send the rest. i asked why he didnt send the money himself to her, but he said it was not on his level and he would if he could and he was very sorry. once again i thought ok its his money. before i got the 2nd check, my bank called me telling me it was a fake check and i would have to pay the bank the $4000 back. i told sean this still thinking he was a good man and it was a mistake; he said to cash the second check and use it for my bank. b4 i did though i called the bank the 2nd check was from, for $4000 also, and it was fake. i didnt hear from him again. i know your thinkng how niave and stupid i must be, but i am only 19 years old and didnt know. i thought if he asked me to send my money that was fraud, but it was his. because of this, i have been unable to pay any bills including rent, so i have been evicted out of my home and no place wll rent to me, my car was taken away because i could not make payments,my phone was turned off, and i have been fired from my job because i have been unable to get there. i am pregnant and have no resources, i am unable to get a loan because this really screwed up my credit. this man really messed me up. anyway his name is Sean Yanti, and he has broken english.
so now i have no home, no car, no job, nothing. i am in major debt and i just keep falling. i am asking for some help - i am 5 months pregnant and now no one will hire me becuase of training and then i will have to leave after the baby is born. i can slowly repay what is given, but i just need to get back on my feet, find a place to live for me and the baby and a car.

I am a hard working person but never make loads of money. I am honest and do my best at everything. I have been at my job for 5 years. I spend more money taking care of others and always seem not to have anything left for me. I gave my mother and step-father a roof over theyre heads at least three diffirent times. They lost home's due to forclosures, and things and had no where to go. I left them stay with me and my ex-husband even though we did not have enough room or was not financialy able to provide for them. Now that I am down on my luck and don't have a home, my mother said I could live with her and my step-father. Now that my mother passed away just a couple of months ago, my step-father wants us out of his home. My husband works but is no help to me. I pay all the bill's myself and fend for myself. Just when I think I am going to get things in order, something comes up and drops me on my knees. I have been approved for a mortgage on a home, I asked for %100 financing and was told that I got it. I found a home that I want, now they say I need $4500 up-front before they can get my mortgage through. My credit is not good and I have been trying for months to get financing for a home with nothing but turn downs. Now I have a loan approval but don't have the money needed to get it through. I work 40-55 hours a week at a furniture manufacturing company which is hard work. My hands are full of calluses and I never get enough rest. I am living in my step-fathers basement but he wants us out of here. We don't have children but we have three dog's that are our children. We need a home that we can have them with us. Help needed. I am at the end of my rope. Every day I get home after a hard day, the first thing I hear is my step-father asking me if we got a place to go yet. He forgets or dont care that I gave him a home several times.

I'm trying to sell some art to raise food funds! I'm homeless. I've lived in my RV/Studio for 10 years. I have a Pop Art Formula of cat faced celebrities, done in marker on magazine and finished in found frames. I think a good level of support would be a $10 donation per Artwork.
I've been shown in some very prestigious places despite my living situation (read, famous and valuable). I THANK YOU for your support.

Hello. My name is Beverly Johnson and i need help. I recently lost my mother who was very ill since i was 12. I had many oppertunities to go to school and start a career but my mothers health was so bad i postponded it to take care of her. When she got sicker and had to be hospitalized the In Home Care i was doing for her stopped. She was in the Hospital a whole month before she passed which also means i was recieving no income because i was not taking care of her. When she died i also found that she had no Insurance which left me in a bind. I scraped up every little penny i had and put little bits at a time until i finally got her cremation paid off. I couldn't even get her an urn. So now its christmas time and im behind in my rent 1,600 dollars, my 2 children are asking me for gifts that i want to get them but cant, and im so depressed. I've been going to Churches to get free food just so that i can feed them. I'm really struggling. Im asking, no begging for any type of help so me and my children wont be homeless next month and to possibly have a nice Christmas.
