We are a family of five.  Over the past year, we have been plagued with numerous medical bills.   Two of our children have had to have surgery and now my husband has injured his back and has not been able to work full-time and therefore cannot get his disability income.  And in order to get SSI, you have to be disabled for at least six months, so we are in a real bind just trying to meet our everyday needs let alone pay all the medical bills we face.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Even if there is a good samaritan out there that is willing to make us a good loan just to get us back on our feet and give us some peace of mind would help tremendously.  Please help....may God bless.

I've never done anything like this before and I'm a little nervous but I need all the help I can get right now.

My baby got really sick a couple years and at the same time my husband got laid off from his job of 4 years due to the weather.  We were already living check to check so it was only a short period of time before we ran out of money and got evicted from our home.   We're a family of 5, our oldest was 5 years old at the time, and we ended up homeless for 8 months.

In that period of time of being homeless, we were in a car accident and my leg got broken.  I went to the ER and was treated there and almost two months later I got the first bill.  I wrote them back and explained the situation and asked if there was anything we could do to work together to pay the bill and they told me no, it had to be paid in 3 payments (which was $800 per payment) or paid in full.  So I said there was nothing I could do, I don't have ANY money (which was the honest truth).

Then a few months later I got a letter from an attorney who said they were going to sue me for the money.  So I called them and the lady I spoke with told me I was pathetic and if I couldn't pay the bill and new I couldn't pay it then I had no right to go to the doctor in the first place.  They said they wouldn't accept any form of payments that the account had to made in full.  I ended up hanging up on her and cried my eyes out.

I have sent them letters after letter stating that I have recently moved into a home and am looking for a job and as soon as I begin working I would pay them their money.  This was 3 months ago and I haven't heard anything from them until today when I got another threatening letter from them saying they felt they now had no choice but to sue me for the funds and if the account wasn't paid in full in 30 days they'd take legal action.

I have no money!!   It's not like I have a huge savings that I just don't want to touch, I really don't have any money.  I live in a bad neighborhood, in an absolutely disgusting house (with no central heat or a/c).  We burn a lot of candles cause they are cheaper than electricity.  I receive food stamps and WIC and my kids are on Medicaid but this state doesn't offer any assistance for medical or bills to adults.  My husband works 10 hours a day, 6 days a week and a lot of holidays and we make just enough to pay rent and what little utilities we have.  We don't have a vehicle anymore because of the accident.  I just don't have any money.

If they garnish my husband wages, we'll be homeless again.  Like I said, he brings home just enough to pay our rent and utilities.  If they take his wages we can't pay our rent or utilities anymore.

I know I owe this money, even if some of the charges are outrageously high, but I just don't have any money to pay them!!!  How am I supposed to pay them if I don't have any money to give them?  Can anyone help me?

         Hey everyone, well so far I have recieved some help with great resources, links to some foundations that help people pay for some past due medical bills, and also was directed to a great networking/support resource for cystic fibrosis.

         I just wanted to encourage you to keep trying. Whatever it is that you are going through, nothing has gone unseen by the Lord, and He will always make a way for you, even if it seems there is no way.

        God bless you and I just wanted to encourage you not to give up. This world is full of caring and generous people. Money helps fix many situations I know (we need it too) but just remember that this world is temporary, and so is the situation you are in...even if it feels like it's been going on for years, and you haven't had a brake. Just keep praying and know that He is hearing your prayers. His timing it perfect, He is not slow or uncaring...and everything good in your life, truely that is good in your life, it is from the Lord. Don't forget that.

I am a disabled vietnam era veteran. About two years ago I suffered two strokes and saw first hand the obstacles that people and families in need go thru when they are struck with an unforeseen incident. The world can turn into a cruel and cold and lonely place. It seems that the only visitors that approach you are people that want to take their pound of flesh. All the collectors come to collect their debts and there is no way of holding them off. Sometimes families are forced to make harsh and rash decisions just in order to survive the tradegy.

I do not want anyone to feel the way that I did when I had my strokes. Dealing with the feeling of complete loss and disarry of your life only compounds itself on your situation. It harms both you and the family around you in so many ways. The emotional, physical and financial strain can become unbearable. Along with the illness and long sleepless nights you are also plagued with the ever approaching feeling of doom. THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO SURVIVE!!!

I was able to first hand experience this and to speak with others that have gone through these incidents also. There are a few basic needs that must be met in order to get through this crisis safely and remain in a stable environment.

Basic needs include but are certainly NOT limited to:

Food / Shelter / Medical Care

Knowing that someone cares and that there are people who can or want to help, makes a big difference in bridging the gap to becoming healthy and viable again.

What I have decided to do and wish to attempt to pass on to people are both the basic needs and the knowledge that there are others that care and sympathize with people in need.

I hope to help bridge the gap between the needs and the needy!

I am starting a non-profit organization to help veterans and their families cope with the difficult and rocky time between receiving either their benfits or their pension. I wish to exted this service also to the homeless in need.

Hi, My name is Jessica. My husband Mike and I just moved to missouri from Arizona because we could not afford to live there anymore and we thought we might have more opportunities for jobs here. We were wrong. We have had nothing but troubles since we have moved here. Let me begin, we moved into a rental property that we cannot afford, the management company told us that it was the only house in the entire springfield metro area (including cities up to 25 miles out) that would allow our older rottweiler who has medical problems. We made the sacrifice to take care of him and chanced not being able to afford the rent, which is a blazing $800 a month. We also did't have air conditioning for 3 weeks out of our first month, the rental company didn't want to fix it, until we threatened them with the Health Department. We expected to find jobs pretty soon. It took me seven weeks to get hired on at Wal-Mart making $7.00 an hour, and I have to beg them to give me full time hours, which they did. So I generally get (if I am lucky) between 34-37 hours a week. I work very hard, any hours available and volunteer to be called in if they need me to replace someone elses shift. Mike on the other hand, has not been able to find a job. He has applied everywhere possible (at least 4 applications a day to different places, some online, some face-to-face) It has now been 3 months and nothing. Well, one week he was not able to turn in applications, or go to intweviews, because one saturday night, we was attacked. Two large, drunk men, who we didn't even know attacked him and brutally assaulted him. The police came and a report was made, but the men were never found. This happened in a parking lot not but 5 minutes from our house. We had to go to the emergency room because he was seriously injured. They had managed to beat his head into the concrete pretty bad. He had fractures in his face, and whip-lash, and a pretty bad neck injury. He had a black eye and nerve damage to his face and neck. We had to go back to the emergency room about 4 days later because he didn't feel quite right, and the doctors told us that he had post concussion syndrome. His eyes had been dilating in and out quickly, and his blood pressure wasn't right, and his heart was beating strange. The total bill for the hospital, came to about $4000. We contacted Victims of Violent Crime Compensation of Missouri to see if they could help pay for some of the bills. They denied him, because they didn't catch the men? Not sure why. On top of that bill, he has to see a family practice doctor once a month for medications that run us about $400 each fill. She recommends either continuing the medication for a long time, or getting a surgery that has about a 33% success rate and costs between $80,000 and $100,000 to do. We have been delinquent on our bills several times, and have resulted to food stamp benefits, which we think should go for people that need it worse than us, like families with children, but we wouldn't eat if it wasnt for that help. We get less than $100 a month. We basically have lived on tuna sandwhiches and eggs. Once a week I try to fit in some ground beef and rice. We are falling harder and harder, and I feel like my body is about to give out. More than that, I am scared. We have no support system. No money, If anyone thinks that they can help us out with money to pay our bills, or to buy some food, or to help with the prescrpitions that would be great. Or, If you have a job availible in the Springfield, Mo metro area that would be good for Mike, let us know. He had an assosciated degree in computer related field and some experience with computer repair, installation, and such. But he doesnt have to do that. Keep in mind that his injury limits him physicially (meaning he cant lift 50 lbs continuously) though he is pretty strong. Thank you.

I am a mother of a 2 year old son.  My husband and I try very hard to make a home for our family.  He lost his job the day after Christmas and has had trouble finding another one.  I have picked up some contract work, and am now working two contract jobs in addition to my full time job.  I was diagnosed 2 years go with multiple sclerosis, so the extra work is not an easy task.

Anyway, we got behind one month on our house payment and have been unable to catch up.  Our bank is demanding two months (the behind month plus this month) payment within 48 hours.  I don't have it and don't know what to do.

Hi, never thought it would get this bad or I'd try something like this, but I need help.   I have three children, the oldest, age 12 is autistic.  He was diagnosed at age 2.5 and fairly severe - non verbal, self injurious, food allergies, bowel problems, incontinent, tantrumming etc etc.  Through lots of research I found out about the various biomedical options available for treating autism and began to obtain them for my son.

These treatments are all done by "alternative/complementary" medicine doctors, none of whom take medical insurance.  I submit my bills to my medical insurance company and they're mostly either not accepted due to it not being an approved treatment method by the AMA - ie: Chelation to remove toxic metals, or after reducing cost to what the insurance considers "reasonable" they then apply the deductible and the 80/20 split.  Usually this comes up to just about nothing.  These bills have totalled $30,000 - $40,000 per year for the last 6 years. It only adds up to a few thousand in medical deductibles as a refund on taxes

These medical treatments - chelation, diet, supplements, GI/neurological treatments etc along with behavior therapy, have all helped my son immensely - he is now verbal to the point of beginning conversational, has ever evolving imaginative play and social skills and tantrums, although still there, are decreasing.

It's all very stressful on my family both emotionally and financially.  Thank God for credit cards and being able to refinance our home (we're on our third time).  Although my husband has a decent job, I have not been able to work (I did accounting in my former life) due to the demands of having a disabled child. Just this year he was home for two months while I searched for a better placement after he was booted from district school due to behaviors.  What job would let you take two months off, not to mention the times I need to attend meetings, or pick him up.  There is also noone that can watch him due to his behaviors, my husband and I haven't had a night/day alone in 8 years.

I would be more than willing to help out anyone with the medical knowledge I've gained as well as any bookkeeping help or whatever else I could do as a trade off.  Our credit cards are almost at their limit, we still have two to three years of treatments left and I'm running out of ideas on what to do for financing.  I want to give my son the best chance he can at having as normal a life as possible.

UPDATE:  Very desperate now, Please my husband is a hard worker but we are sinking fast. I need a home typist job and cant afford to pay the online fee to find one. A loan to pay off the high interest loan with cashcall would be good to. I am 43 married with two children ages 5 and 8.  My 8 yr old has learning disabilities and recently need to stop working to stay at home and home school my son.  Summer before last we made a big move from CA to WA and ended up without jobs and no home.  We were homeless and living in a tent we now are renting but have not been able to catch up on those blasted credit cards I used to buy food and pay for storage of our belongings.  Since I had to stop working we are now living on borrowed money again.  We have to large loans one for our car and the other was a Cash Call loan to pay off medical bills.  We spend almost half of my husbands paycheck just paying those loans, if we could pay those off and have one smaller monthly payment we would be ok.  If anyone can help. I really need cash or even a home typing job. I have been looking on line for work at home and everyone cost money and I dont have the cash to invest I just honestly want to work.  I am a very hard worker and seem to stay up late I sure could get a lot of work done for someone.  I have a fax/printer and am determined not to live in a tent again.

 I have past medical bills that have went to creditors and I do not have the money to pay for them.  I am in the military and I am a single mother of two.  I need to know if there is anything out there for someone like me.

I am a hard working, low-income single mother who is desperatly trying to better our lives.  As of now my bank account has been over drawn for almost a month and I cannot even begin to make ends meet.  I have been searching daily for a better or a second job with no luck.  My other concern about this is the additional cost of child care, will finding a second job actually be worth it when thinking of the extra money I will have to spend on this?  I feel so stuck right now.  I am also working on a business plan to start a business that I know will be profitable and improve our lives greatly and have enrolled in a debt consolidation program.  The problem is that I have horrible credit and cannot even afford the payments for the debt consolidation.  I do not have poor credit because I am irresponsible, I have poor credit because I have so many medical bills and cannot afford them, only a very small part of what I owe is anything but medical.  I guess what I'm looking for is a second chance, a chance to start over and improve our lives.  My goal is to get my bank account out of the hole, pay off my debt, repair my credit and start my business.  If there are any angels out there that could help, I could sure use one now!  If anyone believes in giving second chances, please consider me.  Any help at all would be a miracle at this point and you have no idea how appreciative I would be!  Thank you so much for taking your time to read this.

Things went bad when we started moving Grandpa & Grandma out of the home into oldfolks homes. The kids lost precious teachings that are vital to life. The olderfolk lost their reason to be. All in the name of Bigger, better,faster and longer! We have a vast number of children lost in fostercare, on the street,and in broken homes. And with the great number of functioning olderfolk lets take some of the failing family farms and put them together? This is my idea. The children have not only lost the joys and lessons that Mom and Dad have no time to teach. But what is more, They don't learn how to be Human.
