I am a disabled vietnam era veteran. About two years ago I suffered two strokes and saw first hand the obstacles that people and families in need go thru when they are struck with an unforeseen incident. The world can turn into a cruel and cold and lonely place. It seems that the only visitors that approach you are people that want to take their pound of flesh. All the collectors come to collect their debts and there is no way of holding them off. Sometimes families are forced to make harsh and rash decisions just in order to survive the tradegy.

I do not want anyone to feel the way that I did when I had my strokes. Dealing with the feeling of complete loss and disarry of your life only compounds itself on your situation. It harms both you and the family around you in so many ways. The emotional, physical and financial strain can become unbearable. Along with the illness and long sleepless nights you are also plagued with the ever approaching feeling of doom. THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO SURVIVE!!!

I was able to first hand experience this and to speak with others that have gone through these incidents also. There are a few basic needs that must be met in order to get through this crisis safely and remain in a stable environment.

Basic needs include but are certainly NOT limited to:

Food / Shelter / Medical Care

Knowing that someone cares and that there are people who can or want to help, makes a big difference in bridging the gap to becoming healthy and viable again.

What I have decided to do and wish to attempt to pass on to people are both the basic needs and the knowledge that there are others that care and sympathize with people in need.

I hope to help bridge the gap between the needs and the needy!

I am starting a non-profit organization to help veterans and their families cope with the difficult and rocky time between receiving either their benfits or their pension. I wish to exted this service also to the homeless in need.

I need help to get this venture started. Any help from you would help out the cause greatly!!!  One of the things that we need too do is purchase wholesale/discount/surplus items to raise  funds for the cause.
We can't do this without you and there are people waiting to be helped. Please help us bridge the gap between the needed and needy.

I want to be an organization that ACTUALLY helps, not just a name that people are turned away from when they are in need.

"Our only hope ls our children and olderfolk," Good God in heaven knows, the "powers that be" sure won't change their ways and help the backbone of america. Things went bad when we started moving Grandpa & Grandma out of the home into oldfolks homes. The kids lost precious teachings that are vital to life. The olderfolk lost their reason to be. All in the name of Bigger, better, faster and longer! We have a vast number of children lost in fostercare, on the street, and in broken homes. And with the great number of functioning olderfolk lets take some of the failing family farms and put them together? This is my idea. The children have not only lost the joys and lessons that Mom and Dad have no time to teach. But what is more, They don't learn how to be Human. Look around, We are in deep we must begin with our children so that when they are "The powers that be" they wil treat their familys with a bit more Humanness. One farm is all we need to start.   A. I'm in pain physically and emotionally while I'm typing this so I'm hoping what I have to say comes out right. I'm going through a tremendous amount of issues right now and I really need some help but have the most trouble finding somewhere to turn. I have a rare pain syndrome that is not commonly heard of. It's called vulvodynia. It causes me excruciating  & debilitating pain. At one time I experienced it almost every second of every day for the last several years. There's no cure or even any sure way of knowing the exact cause....it makes you miserable and unsure of ur life from day to day. I also suffer from depression.

The vulvodynia pain, I guess u could say is comparable to nerve damage pain (which is in fact what it seems to be in my case). I don't know if I'll ever be free of this situation again but for the time being the only thing most recently that has been helping me to function enough and not suffer this every single day as before is the Cymbalta medicine I've been taking. I also believe in holistic methods but nothing else so far helped relieve the extreme pain and I have a young child to care for. I have tried many many medications & have been & felt like somewhat of a guinea pig. This situation started for me around the age of 19 and I am now in my 30's (Off and on during that period of time). I cannot work because of these disabling situations and I receive SS disability once a month.

I tried to fill my prescription for my medication and for reasons beyond my control (some error of some sort), my insurance that covers it was off and will take at least a month to be corrected. My medicine costs $163 that I don't have. Making matters worse, I am in a period in which the pain is at it's worse (which happens sometimes) and this is the worse time for me to be without my medicine. I can't find anyplace to get it free or get samples. I NEED HELP.

I am behind in my rent $227. I have bills I am behind in that is $191. My glasses are old and broken (I'm very nearsighted and the type of glasses I get cost me $350-$400), My child's birthday is here, I have no money to give him anything right now and that in and of it self is so hard (he's a great kid and I love him dearly)and I have little money for the basics of food (which has just been getting more and more expensive). My medicaid was cut a long time ago because they sent the recert to the wrong address, I've tried to apply since then and all I get is the run around. Food stamps is the same thing. I'm just TIRED and I neeed HELP PLEASE SOMEBODY. If u hear me and u can, please help. I am humble and appreciative. Thank You

Feel free to participate in this public group space.

Two easy ways to do this:

  1. Add a comment or a question here - on this page... or on any other page in this space.
  2. Or, if you want to start a separate thread - make a new page.

Either way is good - the important thing is your participation. On Aidpage, people support each other by speaking out and by paying attention to each other - as simple as that.

I am single divorced woman in my mid 40's with cancer and need help paying my bills.  I am about $2,000. behind in home and utility payments and I do not have money to get to my dr appointments.  I see someone offered help by suggesting to purchase a CD.  If I had the money to throw away on a CD I would not be on this site.  I am someone who has always had money and was very generous when it came to chroty.  I do not have any money on hand.  I can wear a wig, but have you ever tried getting a job with a woman on a close up interview for office work with no eye brows or eye lashes, and dark circles under your eyes?
Think a new employer would let you constantly take off for raidation appointments?  Think all of this would be a huge red flag to an employer that would be taking on my medical insurance, raising the rates of the whole company?  How about clothes for interviews, I can't make a housepayment and do not have gas for my Dr.'s apptointments, do you really think I have the money with my weight change to purchase new or even used closes?  Free clothes and doctor appointments do not deliver to you.  You must go to them.  With the price of fule and being broke, that makes it very hard.  I don't expect you to cry me a river, but at least have some understanding or ask the quiestions before you feel you have the answers.  I realize this person did not mean to be crule, but these are the things that I and probably many people on this site live with.
