Need loan or project or job or buyer

My husband and I have been looking for work for over 6 months now. I prepared taxes during the tax season and was given a bonus at the end of the season that kept us alive for another month or two. But we have tapped out all our credit cards and borrowed as much from family and friends as we can. We have also sold a bunch of our stuff on ebay.

Please understand, we have not just looked for work; we've also looked for ways to make money via side businesses. We are determined to make a sustainable living, but we have encountered some roadblocks on the way. Within a two year period, we were robbed of most of our belongings and we had a business deal go sour that left us homeless for a short period of time and cost us a lot of time and money in legal struggles.

I've made a small amount of money in the past year editing books, articles and papers. I find that I especially like book editing and have a small website up right now that has attracted some clients and potential clients.  I've not done any marketing to date, other than establishing a relationship with one self-publishing company and putting up a website on another editing service. Today, I just discovered a place where I can advertise my services for free to over a million people a month worldwide. I only need to win a few clients in order to make ends meet. I wish I had discovered this website six months ago because I could have been promoting my side business and making money by now. But I believe things happen in their own time.

Here is my dilemma. I think that a couple of months of setting up a better website, setting up a storefront on the above mentioned website and promoting my services both locally and in cyberspace will lead to enough work to make ends meet and dig us out of the hole. If I can make a living at this, I believe my husband's business will be able to grow and we will have a good long-term outlook.

But the short-term is grim. We have about $100 left and we are now behind on bills. In nine days we will need to have about $900 to cover bills, including rent, but not including food or gasoline. Fifteen days after that we will need another $700 plus food & gasoline. We really need about $1900 a month in order to meet our obligations, which for two people isn't a lot. We will need more than that eventually to dig ourselves out of the hole, but right now I'm just concerned to survive until something gives.

I'm looking for help in the short-short term -- help to make it through August's rent. Appoximately $2000-$3000.

There are several ways that could happen:

  1. We've been trying to sell our 1993 van, but with little success. We've advertised in local paper and auto trader and free classifieds.  With a couple of repairs, we actually could auction it locally. That would mean an investment that we do not have plus, according to the auctions website, up to 8 weeks before the auction would yeild payment. The auction house sets a reserve. If someone could lend me the amount of the reserve less the auction fees, I would pay that back when the van sells. Of course, if some other windfall occurred, I would be happy to pay back sooner.
  2. If you like to buy the van, we can talk about that as well. I live in Nevada and am willing to drive the van to California, Arizona or Utah to deliver it to someone. Otherwise, we could discuss shipping.
  3. Maybe someone out there has a book, a manual, a dissertation, or some other editing project(s) that I could complete over the summer. I'd be willing to discount my prices considerably in order to have short-term money.
  4. I have considerable experience as a bookkeeper, especially setting up books on computer or setting up new business books. If you have such a project, I'd be happy to talk with you about rates.
  5. Maybe someone would like to talk to me about investing in my business. I plan to specialize in helping businesses or entrepreneurs self-publish a book or books to enhance their reputations and market shares. I'd be happy to share my business plan with anyone who'd consider microinvesting in my business.

I am open to any ideas on what to do. My husband and I have survived some bad blows in the last couple of  years as a result of setting some boundaries with family and business relationships. We are going to make it. I believe in us, but I also believe in the power of community and I was happy to find this site.

In addition to paying back a loan or providing the best service I know how to someone who might help, I also pledge to "pay it forward." I am strong believer in the power of human interaction and human networking. I won't drop the ball.

Thank you for your time and your consideration.

Hi!

I lost my job 6 months ago and I havent been able to find another one since then. Now I am stuck with car loan, students loan so I cant study enymore until I pay all of my monthley unpayed cheks, I used up all of my saveings and then some so I own the bank about 2000euros. I even had to move back to my parents, sell my car and now I feel like a teenager(no money, no job, depresed..) and I am 28years old. My paresnts are supporting me now, spending a fortune on my job interwievs but in my coutry you cant get a job if you dont know the right person, there is allways someone who is a cousin of some cousin who gets your job even if you are more sutable for that job position.

I am really desprered, I dont know what to do, I would work any job just to pay my debts and go back to study, I have only 2 exams left and diploma.

I think that when I finish school it would be easyer to get a job, but to finish my diploma I need a job first. Its a really upside down world in my mind, I think I am going crazy thinking of solutions.

I just hope I am never in that point of life when I would  think that there is no point of living enymore, as my few friends were or still are....

I would apriciete if someone could help me with my debts or just have som job opportunites for me, that would really help me a lot!!!

Thak you for reading my story and sorry about my english, its not so prefect i know.

Hello, I am a 43 year old married mother of two wonderful teenage daughters.  My husband and we live in the Calera/Jemison, AL area.  We have never been considered rich by any means, and when my husband lost his job in Dec. of '07, this only made the situation worse.  I am disabledand only draw a very small check every month, and my daughters' dad is also disabled, so the only other money we have coming in are their S.S. dependant benefits from their father, less than 200 per month.  We have only stayed afloat this long thanks to our income tax refund, but now things are getting desperate.  We are in danger of our utilities being shut off in the next few weeks and we about to miss our second trailer payment.  We are usually pretty stable people, but this hit harder than we expected due to the shortage of jobs at this time.  My husband, Woody Glenn, has skills in welding (uncertified), forklift operation, warehouse helper, etc.  He is a hard worker and dependable, he just needs help in locating a job.  We deperately need financial assistance, but what we need even more is for him to get a job.  Anyone out there who might be able to help, please e-mail me.  I check it daily, but won't post my telephone number for security reasons.  E-mail:  angiebaby456@yahoo.com.  Thank you in advance.  Angie Glenn

I'm a self-employed single parent.  I lost my major client last December when they  were taken over by another company.  This client provided me a building from which to run my business.  So, not only did I lose the income, but now, without a building, I am losing several other clients as well.  Some of them have been with me for a decade or more.  I know that their decision to use another company/facility is not personal nor is it a reflection of the work that I've done for them.  If I had a facility, they'd still be working with me.  My dilemma is that I am out of money.  Since December, I'm sure that I've applied for a hundred jobs.  I've searched the internet and applied for all kinds of work in all parts of the country.  I have also started a new web-based business (finally have the time to followup on the idea).  It hasn't generated any business yet.  I've posted ads on Craigslist to sell some of the stuff I own.

I have a college education, some grad school ($100,000+ in student loan debt).  I am creative, resourceful, professional and articulate though none of this seems to be serving me well right now. I am into positive thinking and the law of attraction and, as such, I am very grateful for the success I've had the past 16 years.  I know that this to shall pass and I know that this chapter has closed to make room for something even better.

All of that said, I've used all of my savings - had to pay the IRS several thousand last November just before losing my client contract - so my savings were limited to start.  I have paid my mortgage this month but that's all.  I haven't been able to pay any other bills -not heat (oil), electricity, childcare, health insurance or consumer credit.

I need financial help right now.   I am willing to work, if you have a job that I can do.  Since I'm in NC, I'd also be willing to work as a Virtual Assistant or anything else that I can do from here.  I am skilled with marketing, PR, hospitality and party planning.  I enjoy writing, reading, managing logistics and facilitating groups.  If you are an investor, I'd love to explore the option of leasing or buying a building.  If you can spare any money, I'd appreciate help paying the bills this month.  I am willing to accept a loan.  If you prefer to give "free money", then I promise to pay it forward.

I am 24 years old, laid off from work 5 months ago and looking at my last month of unemployment insurance to live off of at this current time. I have searched for jobs in all corners of my area from retail, sales, entry-level, to jobs that most people are capable of doing. Unfortunately I am either overqualified, they don't like being contacted after your first attempt to follow up, or underqualified for Entry Positions that aren't Entry Level. I'm looking for ways to soften the financial blow in this trying time and economic decline. I'm looking for state aid that may help me keep a roof over my head and food on the table while I take care of my elderly mother so that I can search for a job having peace of mind that there is a tomorrow. I am currently working with 6 staffing agencies and requent 11 job search engines on the web, I don't have much family left after a messy divorce ( not me ) so there is no one for me to go to for advice... I also attend workshops for unemployed but they only offer as far as how to search for jobs on the website at edd.gov. If anyone has any information on grants or aid lines that can be accessed by the public in times of need, I would greatly appreciate any advice. Thank you.
