AidPage is a great idea! I have always wanted to donate some of my spare time to help people in need, right here from my office. And here I found AidPage where I can hopefully use my research skills to help some of the people seeking financial and other help with valuable information resources. Besides, I am curious to find out what really is available out there from the governments and private sources that may match some of the needs posted here on AidPage.

I would greatly appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

I am a 100% disabled veteran. I am not able to work and my student loans have gone into default.  They have just dropped from my credit report, and I have been told not to make a payment, because that will put it back on my credit report.

I was going to buy a place to live and stop paying rent using my VA Home Loan, but they say I cant use that untill I pay off my student loans. If I bought, insted of rent, I would save $200 a month and could start paying on the stundent loans.

Any advice will help.

Hi,

I'm a 26 year old student. Who have reached at the final stages of my educational career. But I can't afford it. If I don't pay, I won't get my degree. If I don't get a degree, I won't get a job. My current situation disallow me from working, due to the fact I'm an international student in the U.S. I can't take student loans, they all need cosigners. I can't ask strange people to co-sign a $40,000 loan. But I can ask a lot of people to help me financially with some of the money, with each person contributing a small part of the total.

I am willing to draft a contract that will give you back upto 40% on top of what you loan me once I graduate and get a job. If the sum will be too much to give out at once, I'll give it out in installments. I'm capable of mailing Bank checks or money orders. You'll have my direct mailing address, and direct contact information. I'll even give you a copy of my driver's license (without the license#) as an address verification, or a voided check. So this way you can be sure there is a way to find me, incase I don't satisfy my side of the contract.

The percentage is a good return, not even your savings account can give you this much in return for your investments. This amount might be much more than what I might end up paying for a loan, but beggars can't be choosers and with every person contributing a small amount, a small percentage is but mere change to the contributor, which is in itself not much of an incentive to contribute.

Thank you for your time to read this.

-Griffin

P.S.Please let me know if there is anything I can do to make you feel safe about this transaction.

Student Loan Debt

Hello.  My name is Heidi.  I am trying to find some help in paying off student loan debt.  My mother had been paying for over $50K worth of student loans from when I graduated in 2002 with an engineering degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York.  My mother told me this summer that she no longer was going to pay for these loans (which were only in my name) as she no longer feels that she needs to.  My family is not very close and she has, in other words, "disowned" me as I have decided to follow my heart and not follow exactly as she says I should.  Since, well, she was my mom, i did not think she would ever come back and break that promise of paying for these loans.  This debt is over $900/month and I am unable to make these payments.  This is a lot of debt that just all of a sudden landed in my lap and I really do need help.  Is there anyone out there that knows of where I may find grants to help me with this?  I know this is a huge amount, but i alread have arbitration people against me and any little bit will help.  Although i have an engineering degree, i have hopes to become a veterinarian some day and as long as I have this debt, this is a dream that will never come true.  Please help!  I want to be able to have a profound impact on this world, to the best of my ability which i truly feel would be as a veterinarian.  I want to help out as many animals and animal loving families that I can.  Thank you SO much in advance and happy holidays to you all!

STUDENT LOAN PAY OFF

I am a 31 year old social worker.  I graduated from college in 1999 and still owe an overwhelming amount of $56000.  I only make a small income working with disabled individuals.  I love what I do but it doesn't allow me to put extra money towards my student loans.  Please help in any way that you are able.  I would greatly appreciate it!

Single mom & nurse w/ Student Loan Debt

I am a hard working single mother of 3. In May of 2007 I will be receiving my Master of Science in Nursing degree (MSN), and will take the National Certification exam to practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) in the field of psychiatric mental health as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS). I choose this major instead of the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) because of my strong desire to serve those who are most in need. However, unfortunately, the business of helping those who need you most seems to be the business in which you make the least amount of money. I have survived for the past 2 years of full-time grad school on student loans. I have worked part-time as an RN in order to make ends meet, but I have always needed to compensate with loans. I am very proud of what I have accomplished considering that statistics gathered ny Planned Parenthood shows that only about 1.5% of women who have a child between the ages of 15 and 17 receive a college education by the age of 30. I received my associate’s degree in Registered Nursing in 2002 (at age 28) and my BSN in 2004 (at age 30). I am now 32 and have been attending school full-time for a total of 7 years now. Both myself and my children, (now ages 14, 13 &7) have sacrificed a great deal along the way, but I believe that we have learned many valuable lessons about the importance of determination and perseverance. I have funded every penny of my education with student loans, and now I will need to begin to repay my debts. I have, and will continue to use my education to help many people who might otherwise go without help. I extend my compassion, knowledge and caring to those who are severely and persistently mentally ill and or suffer from drug and alcohol addiction. My federal loan debt totals approximately $77,000.00, (and is thankfully low interest), and my private loan debt is now in excess of $80,000.00 and unfortunately is around 8-10% interest. It is very hard for me to look at that total in writing! I feel a heavy burden, and now the reality of how I am going to manage to pay these payments in addition to the mortgage, car, insurance, utilities, etc.; not to mention the ever-increasing cost of raising children.
Is anyone out there able to help me find a way to get through this????
PLEASE HELP!!

Scholar seeks donations for student loan relief!

Hi,

My name is Lee Ann and I am a single mom of about 8 years now to two teens, a 17 yr old and a 16 yr old.  I am proud to say that I am self sufficient, independent, hard working and a goal oriented individual.  I hold a Masters in Education and I am currently a 2nd grade teacher and college instructor part-time to supplement my income.  I am looking to go back to school to obtain my Ed.d in Education so that my income may hopefully grow as well.

My problem is that my teens are now talking of college and I have $76,000 in student loan debt.  I am scared that I will not be able to help them when they want to go too! When I finish my Ed.d I will be then, 130,000, in debt!  HELP!!! I am seeking donations that can be paid in any amount to my institutional lender directly so that you can be sure that your money is going to help a single mom make an even further impact on society and her two children achieve their possible dreams as well.  I know this is a lot to ask....but I have seen a lot of sites like this and I know that there are people out there that really love to "pay it forward" and help each other.   LIke I said, pay it directly to them....then you know that it went to a great cause!!!!  Thanks to this site for this fabulous opportunity to ask .....

 Sincerely,

 Lee Ann

STUDENT LOAN HELP!  I teach in a low-income community and have $60,000 of loan debt.   I can't find any programs/grants to help.  There is a loan forgiveness act through the dept. of ed. but doesn't apply to me because I had loans before the act began.  Is there anything I can do?  A teacher salary isn't enough to cover the loan...unless I pay it for it for 20 years after I am dead!

HELP!

Facing student loans as a teacher

I am graduating from college in May with an elementary education degree.  I fell in love with the university as a freshman, expecting to get more scholarships than I did.  Now I owe over $90,000 in student loans.  I am starting to really get worried about life after college, as I am looking for housing now.  After finding out the size of my student loan payments, even after consolidation, I cannot afford housing that is in good condition or in a safe area.  Even making a rent payment of only $300 will allow for little else as far as bill payment when I am making the salary of a teacher.  Any advice or assistance you could give me would be more than appreciated.
