I live in Daleville, AL, home to Ft. Rucker Aviation  -- helicopter headquarters of the Army. Single, but in a fabulous relationship; 48 yrs. old, but I look pretty darn good for an old lady; mom to 2 boys who are adults (kinda); own a greyhound named Murphy who was adopted from Ebro Race Track, Florida; live in a very very hot state where the corn crop has literally burned before our eyes.  I have a 89 Chevy Cavalier Z24 that is sitting in my driveway and needs a starter (it's really a cool car).  I was born in Germany and I am a US citizen.  I sang in a collegiate choir for 7 years with little 18, 19 and 20 yr. old babies and even got asked out on a date by one of them (I didn't go -- married at the time, plus my oldest son would have had a stroke).  My eyebrows are tatooed on.  I got it done in 1999 after years of penciling them on like a 40's movie star or a hooker.  My kids were horrified if I took them to school without them on. I taught junior high drama for 7 years at a Catholic school (what a trip -- I'm still recovering).  I have been a Boy Scout leader for over 12 years (I did give it up last year after my son got his Eagle Scout badge).  I met Robert Beltran (First Officer Chakotay) from Star Trek Voyager and John deLancie who played Q in Star Trek Next Generation at separate Sci-Fi conventions in Cleveland. I am dying of kidney disease. I was waiting for a kidney, and now I have one. My sister will donate on September 19, 2006 at University of Alabama at Birmingham Transplant Center.

I will need some help paying for things that the insurance won't cover. Every little bit helps and I will also pledge to help my friend Shirley at the dialysis clinic with some of her bills, too. She has absolutely no support network.

Hello,

Greetings to you in the name of Jesus Christ. My name is Lysia Scotland. I am twenty five years old and live in a small island in the caribbean called Dominica. Presently I am a teacher at a small Primary school in my village. I am delighted to say that I am a christian and that I serve God fearfully  since I can do nothing without him and his son.

For years now I have lived with my parents and two siblines in a small delapidated wooden house which has two bedrooms, a small kitchen and a drawing room. Being the highly motivated and strong willed woman that God has made me to be, lately I have decieded to further my education though the finance is not yet in my hand.

However, before I leave home, it is my desire to bless my parents with a better place to live. They are both unemployed, leaving me to be the main income earner at home.

When it rains the house leaks from the roof and the windows shake in windy weather. To summarise, woodants have already began feasting on the house.

Though I am an untrained teacher, it is somewhat difficult for me to pay a loan on such a small salary, since there are other home committments which I have to meet for example, buying the groceries. At the end of the month my finances usually fall short, leaving me in need for the rest of the month I would like to provide my family with a better, more comfortable and more secure place to live.

Therefore, I am requesting financial assistance to renovate my parents house. I will gratefully appreaciate whatever amount will be given to me.

Remember, whatever you give to me shall be measured back to you a hundred fold.

Is there anyone who is willing to help me?

I am waiting and looking in faith for a favorable response.

Respectfully,

Lysia Scotland

I am a single mother of two who is a teacher. I work in an urban school. I split my time and money between my kids at home and my kids at school, mostly on incentive prizes and skill building activities. My school district provides some programs, but for the students who cannot stay after school because they work or babysit, I try to fill the gap. As a teacher, I am subject to the irregularities of contracts. I do not always get a raise at the end of the year. It is hard to fill that gap some years.

My sons and I live in a one bedroom apartment. The boys have the privacy of the room and I use a made over dinning room with a make shift door. It is becoming harder and harder to make ends meet, especially since their father abandoned us and does not pay child support. We have not been able to find his place of residence for three years and he refuses to maintain a regular paying job in order to continue not paying it. We are on the edge of loosing the car I need to get to work. We would like to get a small house or at least a two bed room apartment and would like to clear up my debt to start off in a better position. I am also currently in grad school trying to improve our situation through education and education based pay raises. It is a better guarantee than waiting for the contracts which sometimes take years to approve.

I am interested in grants or loans, preferable grants that can help me make things better for my boys. For instance, I need ~$1,000 to pay for my next grad class asap and I am behind in my bills. I just spent my entire tax refund on a bill incurred by my ex, but that I was listed as a back up payment source. Things are geting so tight here that I have had to take  two days off of work in the last month just to be able to pay for gas for the next week (4 days in, 1 day off to stretch out supplies and money). We need help if anyone would be willing to give us temporary help or point us in the direction of aid that is not going to take 60% of what is made to pay for evening babysitting.

I am 34 yrs. old. I am teacher, a mom to three kids.  My marriage is almost 11 yrs. old, not the greatest.  I love music and reading and I am my children's biggest fan.  I am too much of a people pleaser, especially when it comes to my husband.  Not quite afraid to say no, but close.  I am a worrier and very sensitive.  I cry easily, even at something sad on the radio or the news.  I love my family dearly and only want whats best for them. Lately I have turned into a rather sad and withdrawn person and it aches to feel this way.  I'm hoping for a better future.  I would love to be open and free with no secrets, just a future.

Man, where do I start.  I am a single mom with a wonderful three year old son.  I am trying to get out of debt, I work part time from home and every dime goes to debt, of course my ex- left me with piles of it.  I don't blame him for everything I spent money too.  I graduated with my Bachelors recently but live in a small town and its hard to find a good job.  I plan to teach.  I guess I am putting out my needing hand,  I have always believed in paying it forward, so if I recieve any help for supporters I will give back when I start teaching.  God Bless you all, only in American could you get regular citizens to help out their neighbors.

Hello out there. I am looking for somebody that may be able to help with a loan. I am in quite a need lately. I am currently single with three kids. My checking account was closed due to being overdrawn and now it has been filed with our local district attorney's office. I have to pay fees of around $1500 for that and my electric company is asking for a security deposit of $590 this next month in addition to the $515 that I already owe them. I do work and get paid monthly. I am asking for about $3000.00. I know this is alot and I can pay monthly if there is anyone that is willing to help. I would be happy to do the same for someone else, once I get on my feet. Thank you for reading.

Hi folks

Well it was a good idea at first, let's move from the UK to Utah and gain my Masters degree at BYU. However after graduation my wife of 27 years left me with two small girls, Rhianna now aged 8 and Morgan aged 6. In doing so all my friends and affiliations in the LDS Church also left me high and dry. It was devastating and it was a tough two years with the girls. However, due to my immigration visa I had to also work 12 hours a day laboring for the first time in my life, but I needed to obtain food and clothes for my girls. I also sold my Harley-Davidson to feed the girls. I miss my bike because it helped me relax and gave me some peace in my life. However, during the divorce she took all our money, car, phone, in fact everything. She also put us through bankruptcy and I lost our home thinking it would help with reuniting with my girls mom. Sadly she didn't want that once all the money was gone. As my new teaching visa will not be valid for some time I have dedicated myself to work for a charity call Bikers against Child Abuse. I really need help with either obtaining a bike or finances to help me buy one so I can continue to work for the abused kids. I have always helped everyone in my life in either the UK or here in Utah. Sadly I now need help. I would be grateful for any help whatsoever. Thank you for listening my kind friends.

yours

Steve

money for college

I'm a single mom teaching special education in a small town in wv.  My son graduates in May of 2006 and I am in no way able to afford college tuition.  I live paycheck to paycheck and find it hard to make ends meet.  I love what I do but resent the fact that I cannot afford to educate my son after high school.  Just need help.

Teacher in need of assistance

Wow...I never thought it would come to this. I am truly hoping that finding this site will be a blessing to me and my family. I'm an elementary school teacher in Arizona, single, with two children. Within that sentence you can tell a lot about me and my financial situation. Unfortunately, it seems that instead of life getting better, each year my challenges get...well...more challenging. I am currently seeking part time employment and/or financial assistance until I begin teaching again in late August. I don't want a handout or people to feel sorry for me...I am genuinely looking for a way to pay my bills until my teaching contract is underway again.

I'm sure most who know about the educational system and how teachers are paid would say, "what happened to your summer money?" Good question! I've had some unexpected expenses come my way and I was forced to take out way too many "pay day" loans (please don't EVER get yourself into that trap because that it JUST what it is....a TRAP). Summer came and I had to pay them off..plus had to cover some costs of a back tax bill...blah blah blah. You get the point. Now I am looking at it being almost the end of June, and almost no money and no prospects of employment. Funny how employers don't want you if they know you are going to quit in 2 months!

PLEASE help....advice is welcome as long as it's constructive. Assitance is also welcome as long as I can pay back the source.

Thank you!

Lawyer and future educator

I am a lawyer with a family. I have decided to transition into secondary education in an effort to support my family better. My solo law practice is not paying the bills and I think I would enjoy teaching in a high school more. I am nearing the requirements for a Master in Secondary Education through the University of Phoenix Online.

I found out last night my older and only sister has 3 months left to live.  Hospice is coming to her house starting Monday.  She is only 49.  A mother of 5 and grandmother of 3.

She has colon-rectal cancer.

She has been a creative dance teacher for over 25 years teaching blind and deaf children.  She had just earned her bachlor degree and was teaching 3rd grade.  She is truly a loving and giving person.

she has lead a selfless life and I want to give her one last vacation with her family to a warmer climate as she is in need of a warm place.

Any donations to her or to cancer research for colon-rectal cancer would truly be appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post.  I am a second grade school teacher and a single mother of a 12 year old boy and a 9 year old boy.  When my ex-husband and I divorced, I worked my tail off working full-time, going to school full-time, and being a full-time mother so that I could make a future for us.  All was going according to plan when I accepted a teaching position in North Carolina.  I had worked very had my credit rating was excellent.  I purchased an old, but affordable house for us to set up home in.  About 4 months after the move, my ex-husband decided to quit paying child support.  That was in October 2004.  I was getting $1200 a month for child support which is almost what I was making as a first year teacher in North Carolina.  Everyone says not to count on child support, but I had been getting it for 3 years prior so I did.  I spent the next several months supporting us with credit cards.  When it became obvious I wasn't going to see any money, I had to file bankruptcy.  Unfortunately, that wasn't even enough to get me back on my feet.  I have had major health problems this past year and I am struggling to live day to day.  I have given up all of the 'want' items and now only have 'need' items.  I kept the house that I had purchased.  It was built in 1901 and is in immediate need of a new roof.  I cannot finance this expenditure.  I dedicate my time to America's children.  Won't someone please help my children and I out?

This is our situation. My husband and I are in debt around $60,000. We got married when I was young and still in college. We were married one and a half years when I got pregnant, with our twins. I was extremely sick and in the hospital much of my pregnancy. I had to quit work and college. We accumulated lots of medical bills. Our boys came about 6 weeks early and were in the NICU for 10 days. But, they were healthy and it was wonderful to have them. I went back to school, but we couldn’t afford much. So we paid on our medical bills and bought groceries and other necessities with our credit cards. When the boys were 3 and I was done with school and working, I became pregnant again, but miscarried. Over the course of the next 6 years, I had 10 more pregnancies, 10 more miscarriages and 9 D&C’s. I also had many doctor’s appointments and many tests and medicines. This also cost a lot of money. My husband and I both teach and would work summer jobs and do what we could to earn more money. Then a friend told us her niece was pregnant and was looking for a family to adopt her baby. We got into contact with her and met with the social worker at the agency and did adopt her little girl. Our daughter Isabella was born in 2002 and we are all thrilled to have her. We are now financially stable and have taken out a loan to pay off the credit card debt without having the outrageous annual percentage rates. We pay over $900 a month and are on a strict monthly budget. Due to this we have not been able to save money for our children’s college education or buy a home, we rent, because that is what we can afford. Of course, there are many other things we would love to provide our children, but an education and a home are our top priorities. We should be done paying our debt in about 7 years, but the boys will be in college by then. Here is the twist though, that brings me to this point that I am asking for help. We just found out that our daughter’s birthmother is pregnant again. She is due in July and she wants us to adopt this baby, a boy. We said, “Of course!” We don’t have a lot of money and this will make things harder, but we have a lot of love and our situation is drastically better than hers. We love our children and feel that we can provide a stable and loving environment. But, I am worried about “staying afloat” financially. My husband and I both have our masters’ degrees, but we don’t have much opportunity to earn more money in our teaching jobs. It is enough, but due to our circumstances and the medical issues that we had to deal with earlier in our marriage, we are still paying for that and it is keeping us from being able to help our children and to secure a solid future for them.

I would be happy to  send more information, if you think that you or someone you know may be or would be willing to help us. I do not like to ask, but am not sure what else to do.

This is a simplistic view of our family and situation, but I hope it gives you enough insight to see a bit into our family.

Thank you so much for at least taking the time to read this letter and respond to me.

Struggling Family of 5 on one Teacher's Salary . . .

We are a family of five - mom, dad, 13-year-old daughter, 7-year-old daughter, and 5-month-old daughter - struggling to make ends meet on my teacher's salary.  My husband has been unemployed for almost two years now.  I just came back from maternity leave, and because of how the pay schedule works (it's a long and complicated story) I'm now making over $600 less per month. We just don't make enough to pay our bills each month.  We are months behind on our car loan, and are days away from getting our electric and gas shut off.  My husband has looked for work, but has only been able to find jobs that would pay less than what we'd need to put the kids in daycare.  I've tried taking on an additional part-time job at a near-by church, but now I'll be away from my family for over 60 hours a week.  We just need something to get us caught up!  If we were at "0" then we could stay on top of things, but being behind is just killing us.

About thechildcalledonly

I need help paying for my moms medical bills. She had a massive stroke and her medical bills are outrageous. A trust has been set up for anyone who would like to help. You can make any donations at any wells fargo. The acct# is 5179140321. Please I am the only child and I don't have the money to pay for the bills my self. Please help me. My mom suffers from apraxia, speech aphasia, and partial paralysis on her right side. She was a teacher prior to having a stroke and she enjoyed what she did.
