I am a single mother of two teenage boys.  I want to be a nurse.  I already have a  bachelors degree in education (graduated 1991! thanks to my parents, bless their hearts!!) but I have not been able to land a teaching job since my divorce in 1998.  I was able to be a stay at home mom while I was married and I had full intention of beginning a career once my children were in school.  BUT....it has been very difficult to find a job.  I guess they prefer the ones straight out of school or someone with tons of experience.  Well, I have decided that I have a great need to help others and though teaching does a great service, SO DOES NURSING!!  Right??  I understand that there is great shortage of nurses in the US today.   I just need to figure out HOW to go to nursing school, which is full time, and support my kids at the same time.  I need to take two classes before I can enroll in the program and I could take those this summer.  I get $600 a month for child support and I try to substitute teach as much as I can.  Any help and/or advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks so much for just reading my story.  I have faith that there are people in this world who want to make a difference.  I want to be one of those people TOO!!!

Hi, I am a single, disabled mom with two teenage sons. They are really great kids. I need help and do not have family to ask. Both of my sons need dental work, desperately. If you know a dentist in the Central Texas area who would perform dental work for a reduced rate, that would be great.

I am constantly behind in my bills. Cut off notices are common. My sons are both asthmatic and require a great deal of medicine. They both have a stomach disorder, and my older son has high blood pressure. I am sure that worrying about bills is not helping his blood pressure. It must be awful to be a teenager and have high blood pressure. I have a number of health problems. I do not take all of the medication I am supposed to take so that I can try to make sure they have the medication they need. Right now they are sharing an inhaler. I know that is dangerous, but it is the best I can do.

Someone recently asked me what it would take to improve my situation. I think $500 would help me get the medicines they need and help us with pressing bills. It won't touch the dental situation. This last year was tough because I fell and broke two ankle bones. A month later, my older son broke his hand. In addition, he had a stomach virus in the fall which caused so much irritation to his stomach lining that he was out of school a month. He is supposed to see a specialist this month. I do not know what that will cost.

We are not on public assistance or food stamps. We purchase most of our food via Angle Food Ministries. I just thought you should know that .
