I graduated high school in 1999, then took a year off to study abroad in Mexico. I returned to community college in 2001 while also working full time, so just received my Associates Degree last Spring in 2005. I have been involved in whatever community I've lived in, from volunteering extensively in high school to participating in community events such as the annual Kids Carnival I helped organize at the church I attended for the past two years. I greatly desire to obtain my Bachelor's Degree, and to go on to help people in whatever way I can,  which is why I am seeking financial aid.
Help our Family so we may Help Others

 Hello,

Some time ago we committed to deciding to help out families who are in need of financial assistance due to mortgage troubles by using Prosper as a tool.  Unfortunately, before we can begin to help others by lending to them through Prosper.com, we need a little help ourselves -- temporary help, for the months of May and June.  Our situation is as follows: We have a 2 & 1/2 year old son and want him to be happy.  We want to keep our home.  I became unemployed about a year ago and my wife remained working, but during this time we always paid our mortgage on time.  We wanted to hold on to our home.

We can accept money through Paypal to the address of:  pcvcolin@yahoo.com

The situation became dire when my retirement account and credit cards were depleted; fortunately, at that point, I was offered a job.  Now both me and my wife are working again, both of us with good-paying government jobs (steady income).  With the new income, the mortgage lending company, Citicorp, did allow us to go for a modification to our loan, and while they did review our pay stubs, they gave us a new monthly payment that was so high that there will be no way for us to pay it.  Additionally, Citicorp demanded payment on the 11th of this month instead of waiting to the end of the month and threatened foreclosure (an senseless and mean threat, particularly since they agreed to defer payments for the last couple months and since they agreed to approve my modification; their threat is especially mean-spirited considering I paid them on time for the year when I was unemployed, using my retirement account money).

So, we have realized we will have to leave Citicorp and refinance.  Unfortunately the threat of foreclosure means that we have to pay them on the 11th.  While we have the money to do this we do not have the money for other things, like food, gasoline, and bills.  We ask for your help in whatever you can contribute to get us through the months of May and June; by the end of May we expect to be completely out of Citicorp and refinanced into a better loan, and by the end of June we will have recovered from this debacle.

After June we will begin to set aside money to lend to people through Prosper.com who have had mortgage troubles and who cannot get loans through ordinary lending institutions.  Help us position ourselves to help other people ~ please consider making a small contribution today.

You can see my credit details, photos, and a lender discussion of the Prosper.com that I myself received that helped me a few months ago to save my home when Citicorp first began to threaten our family.   See these details by linking to:  https://www.prosper.com/lend/listing.aspx?listingID=102009

I am a 26-year-old female that has been accepted to Boston College School of Social Work for the Fall of 2006.  I need financial help!!!  I know that loans are an option, but I am afraid to take out more loans, as I already have loans from when I was an undergrad.  Loans dispersed after completing the FAFSA also will not cover the total cost of living in Boston and attneding BC.   I desperately want to attend BC next year because it is a wonderful program and it would be the opportunity of a lifetime.   I want to be a social worker so that I can help people in need, mainly children.  I am committed to a life of serving those who struggle to improve themselves, but simply need a hand in getting there.  I was adopted as a child, and I am particularly interested in working with children in foster care, and/or who are dealing with difficult life circumstances.  I have many ideas of how to use my MSW to help people.  I just need a little financial help in getting through school.

I am a volunteer and board member for the food shelf since June of this year.
I have been a volunteer fundraiser for many events/organizations within my state.
I am disabled but that does not stop me from living, caring or assisting someone in need. Especially when their needs out weigh mine.  I learned the hard way though...one time a teenager who was kicked out of his home...I let him stay with me. He stole all my rent money and medications. I did not do anything but make a report of it and it cost me to loose my home, because I believed he had a greater need for the money and I felt God would take care of me. I lost my home....but that's something else.

Fundraiser for children's mission

Hello, I am a young women who has been called by God to offer my services to people who are less fortunate than myself. I am a student in the process of trying to raise enough funds to fulfill my mission as a volunteer at an orphanage in Ghana, Africa this summer. My duties will include teaching the children basic english, math, and reading. I will also take care of the children, play games with them, help prepare meals, keep the facility clean and most importantly give my helping hands and heart. My  goal is to continue to volunteer after receiving my nursing degree so that I may also volunteer in their hospitals. Ultimately , I will love to help fund an orphanage there in hopes that the children will have a brighter future. The cost of the program and flight is quite pricey totaling approximatly $3,500. I will like to start a fundraiser in order to help with the payment. All checks and money orders can be made out directly to the volunteer organization. Please contact me for further details in regards to this project and it's good cause.

Thank you in advance for caring and your help.

CHRISTMAS HELP IS NEEDED
Your help in needed for a family in Minnesota for Christmas.
Please gather your friends,family,co-workers and church members and adopt this family for the holiday.
Kathy the mother survived a horrible motorcycle accident in October. She took her 16yr old out to meet her side of the family for the 1st time in California. The man responsible for the accident had been drinking, had no license, no insurance and was not legal to be in our country. Her insurance coverage will not help her and her vacation and sick pay ran out. Kathy is finally back to Mn, She is still in the hospital...but finally off life support. She is learning to walk and talk again and has a long way to go. We take food over to the kids regularly but I cannot find anyone willing to financially assist her....even this time of year for XMAS.
I need people to send gifts, gift cards, money....whatever your heart feels, just leave me a message on here and I will get the information to you. For those of you who don't have time and just want the information...here it is.Thank you, God Bless and Happy Holidays to you and yours.

Hello!  I am a very outgoing person who is interested in helping others.

I began exploring the world when in 1988 I was invited with a select group of young singers to go to the Dublin Millennium -- the thousandth anniversary of Dublin.  Going abroad to perform really sparked my interest in global affairs, and along with what I had been taught since childhood -- to go forth and help others -- this led to my eventual recruitment, from when I was a student at a University, to join the U.S. Peace Corps.

After graduation from the University and my entry into the Peace Corps, I initially was given an assignment to the Congo for acquaculture work, but due to civil war I was reassigned to El Salvador, where I lived in the "campo" (rural areas), living and working very closely with the people of that wonderful country.  Together with others I worked extensively on water and sanitation projects and local government formation in a post-war context.  I loved El Salvador, where I met my wonderful wife, who works as a Chronic Disease Prevention Coordinator for the County of Monterey.  We now have a child, Gabriel, who is two years old, and he is incredible, surprising and amazing us as only a child can, every single day.

We now live on the beautiful Central Coast of California.  On March 5, 2007 I began work for a local City as a Neighborhood Services Coordinator, facilitating community meetings, helping to implement goals of the City Council as part of an older Neighborhood Services program quote, "to strengthen the social fabric of neighborhoods."  I absolutely love my job and am really happy to be able to be given a new opportunity to help people in the context of public service.

I have to say, I have worked my entire life and still plan on doing so, but unfortunately I live in a "right to fire" state and because I was low man ...or woman, on the totem pole, I was released. I'm not sure how this whole thing works, but I know that I have done quite a few good deeds over the years and am just hoping that at this time a few of them come back to me. I have to say, as soon as I get back up on my feet, I am...off of here!! Thanks to all of you who have even taken the time to read this and I wish everyone all the best!!

SKIPPER / DIVER
Languages: ENGLISH

After Divorce, Bereavement  and a multitude of circumstantial problems, My partner and I of three years wish to get away from it all, with the children, she is a teacher and a PADI diver and I am a Commercial Diver and commercial Skipper. we do not have funds so need to offer a service, we need accomadation and work and school for the kids, Hold on...I have to go and pick the kids up from school...will add to this later.

Okay back again...the fact is we are not desperate or hard up, I believe all a person needs is food shelter and love, we have that, what we don't have is the lifestyle we want, this country is grinding us down, we want to be poor and free, I want a lifestyle for my family which is enriching, It doesn't matter how rich you are you will never be free of the burdens of TAX and BILLS, we pay tax on money we earn, on money we spend, on money we invest, and even when we die they take a slice...and then there are penalties and charges when you fall behind with your bills which cruelly adds to your financial hardship.

We have come to the conclusion that we can go and live somewhere really nice for a while, add to our qualifications, and give the kids a really good way of life, and experience a new culture, and everthing here can be left on tick over. It will actually cost us less to live in another country for a bit, we are slowly drowning here  and I can only imagine it getting worse if we stay, we need to get out while we can!!!  LOL. anyone want to come along?

We are hardworking, independantly minded and very skilled in many areas.

we have experience in land (Forestry, rivers and wetlands) and livestock management

(horses, pigs and chickens)

We have experience in construction and property development/maintainence and are

professional  landlords.

We are experienced Divers and boat skippers.

If you have a property and or/boat you want looking after and maintaining then we are your ideal candidates.

If you have business plans or an operating business involving Diving and boats, then we are your ideal candidates.

If you have a small holding or wildlife park/ nature reserve you need looking after, then we are your ideal candidates.

We have several properties which are not selling due to the current market climate, we have decided to let these out but this only covers the mortgage payments, we know we are in a very good situation compared to many people who are really suffering financially, this post is not a plea for financial assistance, Our only problem is that our life is stagnating, in limbo, we can't live the way we want for us and our children, at least not until a property sells, which could be another two years away.

We are offering an exchange of favours, we work for you and you give us somewhere to live and/or wages or a business partnership possibly with property changing hands, ie: we sign a property over to you in exchange for business. part or full.

we are interested in doing a Divemaster/IDC internship

and would also like to gain Yachtmaster qualifications with a commercial endorsement.

I am 34 yrs old and have 2 girls who are 12 and 9 and a son who is 7.  I go to school fulltime at The University of Toledo and also work about 30 hrs/wk as an intern.  I was married for 7 yrs to an abusive man and I finally got the nerve to leave.  Unfortunately he was very dangerous and I had to take my children and go to a battered women's shelter for 2 months.  Soon after that I decided to go to school and get my degree and here I am about to graduate in 1 week!  I am also a teacher at my church, which I enjoy immensly!  I have worked very hard to get where I am today and my children have been so supportive and strong and have encouraged me the whole way.  They do not complain (too much!) about not having everything that their friends have and seem appreciate what they do have.  My son has kidney problems which has caused me to have to miss some work and be away from home during his surgeries and hospital stays.  He has been so strong through all of this and I am convinced that if he had not been, I would have never had the strength to handle it.  He has also been recently diagnosed with dyslexia and again, has been a pillar of strength.  My girls have been so good to their brother and to me.  Unfortunately, all of the events in the last 4 years have caused them to grow up too quickly.  I really regret them "losing" their childhood and I just wish I could give it back to them.  I just hope they remember all of this and not get themselves in this position.  They have not seen their father in 3 years because he went to Mexico and that has been hard for them.  I would just love to give them a Christmas this year, something for them because we spend every Christmas volunteering at soup kitchens.  Don't get me wrong, we all love doing it but I just want them to have something more for themselves because they give so much to so many other people!

Need help! I feel desperate. Our family always did okay. We lived paycheck to paycheck and went without the extras, but that was alright. We always found an honest way to get by. Now, I am unsure how that is going to happen. Power company wants payment and we are scheduled for disconnect and we are 2 months behind on rent. Things were fine until are daughter got in legal trouble and was given 90 days in jail. She is a single mother. We are raising her child, my grandchild,  while she is gone. This has ghretaly affected the number of hours I have been putting in at work. My husband has always worked but got fired when a new manager came in and he has been trying to make it on side jobs while looking for full-time empoyment. I know if we can get through till my daughter is released we will be okay. I am unsure how to do that. The father of the baby is not an option for babysitting and has a warrant out for unpaid child support. There is no money left in the states emergency funds, I asked. There is no one to ask for help. My father is a widower and my mother-in-law is a widow, both living on fixed income and not close in distance. We recieved no tax refund this year, and have no other money coming in. We both try so hard. Even being broke we volunteer with the area resuce service and fire department. We just need temporary help. Any ideas? Any known resources? I am not used to asking for help and my pride has taken a blow. The welfare of my family is a much bigger concern though.
